Still using it as my off-hand and it has served me well. Rogues should really look to invest the time into getting this dagger as it is definetly a great OH that will serve you well for a long time.

Known as the "must have" off hand dagger. Most rogues say, and i agree, that this is the best off hand dagger you can get your hands on until possibly, naxx.

This Weapon is AMAZING as a DPS warrior and also Offtank with the new Rage Normalization (BOOOOO) I found that Daggers has kept my rage generation faster causing me to out tank our MT but otherwise for a Rogue Shammy (maybe depending on guild) DPS Warrior great offhand with Crusader or whatever depending on gear id say go with +15 agility most of the "great" DPS warriors on our Server use Daggers or Eskhander's (Offhand) and Brutality BEFORE the patch due to Warlock and Mage buffing better off tanking instead but otherwise Rogues just be specd right and have fun watching yourself go up on the Damage Meter .OFFHAND this weapon your Weapons Speed matters whether or not it is Offhand or MH
Slower = MH (Main Hand)
Faster = OH (Off Hand)

Actually this is a great MT weapon as well. It's speed will allow you to get your sunders up much faster, creating more aggro and allowing the raid to engage faster and your MT to hold aggro easier. The rage generation isn't too bad either;)

This is a pretty good dagger. it goes as a good offhand supporting maces or fists to keep up damage. the 1% crit and +20 attack power always helps when fighting high armored people.

The speed on this dagger is great for a main tank or a rogue. For rogues, it helps you apply your poisons faster, as well as just getting those hemos or sinister strikes in. For a tank, its also great because of the attack speed, allowing you to apply your aggro gaining abilities faster.

Haha, back in the day, this and Perditions Blade were like an unofficial set.

I used them both for a what seemed like a very long time. :D

And I agree, CHTs skin is a real beauty. Lets cross our fingers that the Cata Xpac brings some sort of Corehounds out of the upheaval. And let us also pray that said Corehounds are prone to getting their teeth knocked out. ;)

Funnily, this items invoked the biggest celebration out of any piece of loot (incl. Perdition's/CTS/Maladath/Misplaced Servo Arm/Iblis, Blade of the Fallen Seraph) I ever received on my rogue in vanilla. It had taken months to drop and it felt so good.

with a fast offhand dagger a rogue can get addition damage from offhand weapon, addition poison applications, additional stats which benefit both hands. Also if using slice and dice it increases melee speed so is also boosted by offhand weapon.

It's my opinion that 95% of the people commenting on these MC epics have not nor will be going to MC any time soon. Especially with their total dismissal of the existance of clearly more deserving classes. The total readiness to screw their guildmates out of a weapon shows that they haven't any sense of loyalty or teamwork and thus don't belong in any guild capable of raiding MC, anyway. But this is an open forum, so telling all these worthless chumps to shut up is futile.

1. You don't roll on items in MC, you bid DKP's on them. So if ur talking about rolling on this dagger, you're wrong. Stop it.

2. Generally a raid has about 6 Rogues, partly becuase they are helpful cuz they do a lot of damage, partly because there always seems to be an abundance of rogues who want to do MC/BWL/Ony. And most guilds like to fill up the raid any way they can without compromising proper class spread. 40 people in the raid with 8 rogues, is prolly a lot better than 37 people in the raid with 5 rogues.

3. Hunters/Warriors would not be allowed to bid on a dagger unless none of the rogues in the raid want it, or cant bid because they're low on DKP's, even then rogues may still have priority over other classes even if they are below the allowable DKP bidding limit. If the rogues dont want it, usually it is up for grabs to whoever bids most points, prolly hunters, maybe warriors, hell ... i guess a shaman/druid ... or even a Paladin could bid on it if they wanted to. But there are lots of better weapons in MC/Ony/BWL for those classes, which is prolly why i've never even heard of anyone but hunters/rogues say they wanted the weapon.

4. If your stuggling to defeat Majordomo, you're not ready to fight Ragnaros, let alone kill him. I'm not being rude, it just takes a lot of practice playing with eachother before you get good enough to even fight Ragnaros. My guild could defeat Majordomo without losing a single person, and even then it took us almost a month before we killed Ragnaros.

Rogues may not be the most useful in some of the MC encounters (i.e. Baron Geddon and Shazzrah, since they are ranged fights), but during the Ragnaros fight DPS is imperitive. The raid has to have enough DPS to be able to get Rag below 50% or better before the Sons of Flame spawn and then defeat him before they spawn again to stand a chance to defeating him.

Went down with my guild and this baby dropped, bid all my DKP on it but defo worth it- looks ace with agi enchant on it, easily the best off hand dagger in the game IMO but atm im using it in main as I have faster dagger in off and this has a higher dmg output- until I get Gutgore, Peridtions or Fang of the Faceless. BTW 8-10 rogues is way too many rogues for MC unless ur doing melee bosses, 5 is usually the max sometimes 4 for ceratin bosses which reqire ranged DPS.

Anyway good luck on getting this

Well in my MC runs the top damage dealers are 31/8/12 rogues closely followed by combat rogues. Then frost mages then hunters. Those who say that more than 3 rogues aren't needed are just clueless people to say the least...

Here is the deal...

In terms of MC, options for 1h weapon for damage dealers are brut. blade and this hound. This hound should go to dagger spec rogues over all. If they don't have it, it should be FFA for hunters, rogues, or dps war.

This dagger is THE best off-hand Dagger in the entire Game... no doubt this dagger is a keeper no matter what, in my guild we he a lot of Full Bloodfang Rogue with perditions blade/dragonfang blade and so on, but same for all of our Rogue that use daggers is that we hve thi dagger in off-hand cause it simply pwns big time..... and it is not only my guild who does that it is everyone I have ever seen... check out pvp novies with some of the greatest (for an example Argeln from our server UD Rogue - Dragonmaw) they use this in their off-hand....
AND this is NOT a hunter weapon..... far from, and if u have managed to get to majordomo in mc it means u have a good guild, where people repect eachother and knows how to work together, which means that NO hunter would ever try to Need this over a Rogue.... not if u want what is the best for ur Rogue M8's and for ur guild... it doesnt get any better than this for a Rogue imo.... I have fang of the faceless in main hand and CHT in off-hand, I am going after Dragonfang Blade for my main hand, and when I get that I have the perfect wep combo...... imo... (know that some of u can defend why Perditions blade is just as good or even better than Dragonfang, but I think that depends on urself....) I got this last night and I cant stop smiling.... I ahve this with a Lifestealing enchant, my fang with Crusader and I have the heroism card... = pure pwnage....

To whomever said that rogues are useless in MC, you're dead wrong. One of the rogues in our guild is ALWAYS either first or second in damage.

Being a hunter, I'd pass on this. I personally feel that Warblade of the Hakkari and Fang of the Faceless are best combo - but I'd still pass either of those to a rogue that needs it. A hunter got it last night, though I'm pretty sure no rogues even bid.

Very pretty dagger, though. =)

ok just got mine and its amazing offhand for rogues! to the poster above wtf? ofcourse rogues offhand counts o.O the damage from this contributes to the rogues overall output damage, just cuz summits offhand doesnt mean its useless lol! ok anywho i was using the lobotomizer b4 - offhand with GGR mainhand and i can tell ya i defeinitely notice those BS crits getting higher :) GG blizz!

-pss yes it can be a hunter weapon - only when all rogues have theirs :)

-psss the petrified leaf also drops from domos chest, go for that b4 u go for CHT :) - save DKP! :P it not only looks imba youll use it alot more than CHT ;)

I'm a dual wielding fury warrior, and was allowed to roll on this dagger with all the other rogues. Won the roll and got many a grats. Rogues and the raid overall agreed that I can put it to good use, as the 3 fury warriors top the damage meters every run without stealing aggro.

Hunters and rogues benefit equally from the stats. That is all you talk about. You neglect the fact that rogues need a decent DPS offhand and that for combat rogues, your offhand dagger is a significant source of damage. Yeah, we actually hit stuff with this dagger.

This is still just a hunter a trinket no matter how you look at it. The actual DPS increase a combat dagger rogue would get from this item is greater than the DPS increase a hunter would get. What do you suppose rogues are replacing this offhand with? Not really anything until AQ40.

I should also mention that rogues get a +5% to crit with daggers from putting points into dagger specialization. This is good for hunters, but better for rogues...

I'll explain it in an easier way without allt hose charts and crap.

Ambush does weapon damage + some extra dmg.
Your attack power adds DPS not damage, so depending on the speed of your weapon, you'll be getting more or less damage. Example:

2.00 Barman shanker. 1.50 Demonic Blade of the *!@#$%^
Let's say you have enough attack power to add 46.00 DPS. You will get 46.00 x 2.00 = 92.00 dmg if you use the barman. You will get 46.00 x 1.50 = 69.00 dmg if you use the demonic blade.

So that's how you find your lower level, less max dmg weapons hitting harder in ambush/bs than newer even epic faster weapons.

With that said, Core hound tooth is an excellent offhand. If they fix the graphic it'll be allll good.

Amazing how ignorant some people on here can be. This weapon isn't for hunters? Uh, it's only THE BEST HUNTER WEAPON IN THE ENTIRE GAME. Hunters should never have a chance to get it? How in the world is that supposed to make any sense?

Yes, we know it's also very nice for rogues. I wouldn't be too upset if a guild leader gave preference to rogues over hunters in some situations. But it's pure greed for rogues to think items that are good for them are ONLY for rogues.

with +1% to crit, 9 stamina, and 20 attack power at 1.6 speed this is by far the best off hand for a backstab/ambush rogue using poisons. You just can't be 90 extra health and another 15 crit. The 20 extra attack power is just icing on the cake. Put a barman or a gutgore in the main hand and you are damn near unstoppable. I would say the felstriker still rivals this for its proc though.

All I have to say is that for a warrior setting up overpowers via dual wield and macroing in a reaper or better for the overpower and MS shots, this offhand with Eskhandar's Main Hand is probably the best combo available in the game for dps over time.

I'd argue with anyone who called rogue only on this one - its not fast for your poison offhand, its not slow for your ambush mainhand, its just mediocre speed for a rogue. For a warrior offhand, its godly.

Who ever said that hunters should check which weapons would be best for them, OK, here they are:

Main hand:
Brutality Blade
Binds when picked up
Unique
One-Hand Sword
90 - 168 Damage Speed 2.50
(51.6 damage per second)
+9 Strength

Requires Level 60
Passive: Improves your chance to get a critical strike by 1%.

Off hand:
Core Hound Tooth

Well the problem is that with 2.00 attack speed it see's a huge upgrade from attack power. I have about 720 attack power and 21.89% crit. I have it hit for more than my tooth easily.

I think it should go likes this:

Hunters get Range weapons first. If a range weapon drops, and it has "+1% chance to crit" or "+ AP", tough luck Rogues, it should go to the Hunter first, unless they don't wanna waste DKP or already have it.

Now, if a Dagger drops, Rogues should get it first. Why? Simple. Were the only class in the game(I'm talking about backstab and ambush, not passive abilites like dagger spec.) that has special abilities that REQUIRE a dagger.

Seriously, hunters, go get Dawn's Edge or BSH. Hell, I'd even pass Brutality Blade to you in MC since I use daggers.

Simple sine hunters dont have overpower...
why dw?... better accuracy for your raptor strike with cooldown if you use a 2-h and you do more dmg.
hunter tend to get away shoot then rogue/warrior anything catches back up with them thats my slow ass hard hitting weapons woyk well on hunters imo..
i haveaq erogue and whena hunter melle crits me for 400 i dont really care when thaey crit me for 700-1200 i tend to start to care.

Also the barman and this arent deffrent enough to give a ^&*! about. i would wield this main since i have a 1.4 attk spd dagger off-hand for my modified instant poisons. and lifestealing proc.

100-200 difrence in crit dmg is rediculous to even argue about.

When you are starting to get really nice equip then crit and attackpower does most of your damage! I'm blazing along with 1149 attackpower atm :) and i'd choose 20 dps 3.0 dagger if it was available. a 20 dps f.ex(40-80dps 3.00 speed). would give a 40-80 +3,00*82,14 286-326 damage pr hit..
CHT:
57-107 +1,6*82,14= 188- 238 pr hit.

Ofcourse if you have *!@#ty equipment and no buffs the weaps with most dps wins

Maybe i'm dumb. But i can't see the logic in that math. Ambush and backstab are abilities who has nothing to do with the speed of the weapon.
When u have the energy u plunge ur dagger in the victims back and do damage based upon the damage ur dagger hits when u do.
In other words. The higher max dmg + attack power\dps. The bigger the ambush\backstab.

Maybe im wrong, but i just cant see that shanker is better when its 12 less max dmg.

well im new to the whole WoW craze but i no i want a rogue.. so ive just been checkin out wpns and stuff and u all say this is the best off hand wpn and is very nice paired with Perdition Blade.. but i was just wondering if anyone has paired it with Claw of the Black Drake? instead of a perdition or brutal blade?

i think the claw and this CHT would be a nice combo but i still really dont no crap about wow.. anyone try this combo?

The Tooth is a great rogue or fury warrior off hand. Not so great for ambush, backstab or sinister strike because it's top end damage isn't as much as a Qiraji Sacrificial dagger or other equivalent daggers. The bonus to AP and crit rate are great and the speed makes it a perfect off hand.

Revision to the above statement, a friend of mine got this and a Gutgore Ripper, much to everyone's confusion she put the Gutgore in her offhand. Why? She's got crusader on the Tooth and a +15 agi on the Ripper. With the proc rate on crusader and the speed of tooth she out damages sword rogues with better gear, even though they all tell her to switch weapon slots. Can't argue with coming in third on damage in an MC with only 3 Night slayer pieces and 2 Zandalar though...

Why is it that hunters can roll on most any type of weapon but yet they chose to take away from a class that saves their tails all the time by rolling on weapons such as this. If someone gets close enough to melee a hunter, especially in a raid, the raid is wiped anyway and the hunter is just doing a last stand kinda thing. Hunters stick to 2-h whatever and leave these to the people that get better use out of it. This is the dumbest conversation of all as I have seen it first hand when a hunter rolls on an epic 1-h sword from MC and banks it cause his blue text 2-h offers him better ranged stats; but comon he has an epic weapon.....how cool is that........especially when it sits around collecting dust. DO research and find the weapons that best fit your class and roll on those, and its not daggers.....sorry. Rogues only here.

For use best as an offhand rogue dagger.

For main hand, you should aim for a gutgore ripper, or a Perdition Blade.

And no, a hunter shoul never roll on daggers. They can use swords, 2h swords, axes, 2h axes, polearms..... jeeze, take your pick, but keep your grubbly little mitts off daggers.

i agree with everything being said that hunters should not roll on this... i mean im a hunter and i would never touch this unless absolutly no rogue/fury warrior wanted it... comeon hunters i know the stats are ok but you dont need that much speed on a melee weapon

ummmm yeah......ur calling this the best hunter weapon in the entire game cuz of 20 atk power? lol. do yourself a favor and look up EDGE OF CHAOS. i would think since it had better dmg, higher dps, higher atk power and its a one handed axe ( since almost every hunter i know is dualing BSH with +15 agi until they get their epix)......that it is obviously better for hunters than a CHT.

but its cool. hunters think every weapon is a hunter only weapon. i had to deal with it in EQ also where monks felt everything was monk only.

hell if they could get away with it. hunters would try to say thunderfury is only hunter, and keep sulfuras in their bag cuz its also only hunter. /puke

I just got mine, currently pairing it with Qiraji Sacrifical Dagger, hoping to get Perdition's Blade soon. We got Ragnaros to 40% before the Sons were summoned last night, which isn't bad I'd say. But we wiped at the Suns, most of our mages were at work. :(

LOL. . . . too bad the shanker and all other daggers slower than 1.8 are getting a huge AP nerf next patch. So daggers faster than 1.8 are gettin buffed, which makes this dagger a must have.

MC today was eventful:
Garr drop GGR
Domo's chest has CHT
Rag drops a Perd's.

I gladly passed on the GGR and picked up CHT later. Whoever got the Perd's blade must've been ecstatic.
(Though he drops us one just about every week.)

Ok. This is in NO way a hunter/warrior weapon. This is in NO way a rogue main hand weapon. Barman shanker will hit harder that this main hand, but this is great offhand. It has the passive abilities, +1% ctit, +20 Attack power, 9 stamina. It is in NO way too slow to be too slow for poisons because it is only .2 or .3 slower than the fastest offhand.

No offense, but to anyone who think's differently, you're an ididot.

P.S. I don't know how to change my Siggy bu I have been 60 for a while and do MC 3 times a week.

Well guess what? Hunters can you just about any weapon with a sharp edge (axes for example which huh Rogues Can't use), Blizzard I don't know why you even let Hunters use daggers... really it just doesnt make any sense.

I'm hoping to get this one soon aswell.
I'm an arms/prot warrior, but got Deathbringer Deathbringer the other day. so wanna go for a more fury oriented build. I so hope that all rogues present when it drops are not interested in it...

I had to put it in my mainhand for the time being, but it looks sick... went ahead and put 15 agi on it for when i get a perdition's blade or fang of the faceless.

I just saw a Dorf using that weapon... well lets just say, if you are willing to make character to use that weapon, well, dont make a dwarf cuz they look like cats that have been captured in a bag and swung on a brick wall multiple times.

If your in an MC raid, and you wanna spend the DKP, whoever wants to spend should get it. The passives on this apply to ranged fights too. So The attack power and the crit chance do work off guns. Thats why hunters want these. An equivalent 1h would have about +100agi for a hunter to get the crit chance and attack power. Its like a Barbarous blade, but 1h...

Like i said, its not like there's any random MC runs that get this far, so leave it to the guild to decide, I'm so fed up of the "omg N00B! This teh rouge dagger!11!" or similar posts. If you have it legitimately, congrats, if you ninja'd it, may lice eat your genitals.

Shanker better cause speed is lower. Ambush, Backstab depends on speed of weapon too, cause calculates from (clear dmg + dps*speed)*2.5(1.5) + ...

Tooth damage: a little more than 129-179...you forget about ~1.5 dps from Tooth's +20 Attack Power :P so 131 - 181 vs. Shanker's 141-185.

6 months of MC, endless domo kills, and never (NEVER) has this dagger dropped. Im sitting with perd / fotf. My offhand is slower than my main. CHT DROP PLZZZ....

Well.... Updates on this weapon now. It actually is better than Barman shanker because it has a higher damage range. I was wrong before. It's top end damage that matters. The speed, not as much. Also, this has better "white damage" (weapon swings) beacuse its faster with higher DPS. After the Patch (1.8) it will be even better because they are making faster daggers better. It will be as good/maybe even better than Gutgore Ripper which I am currently mainhanding. Woot! I'm next in line in my guild for this weapon so I'm happy.

I'd really appriciate some help please =D
Yesterday i went to AQ20 with my guild(Small time, nothing higher than MC on farm yet) And the Qiraji Sacrificial Dagger dropped off Kurinnaxx. I will obviously use it for MH, but for OH i have a little bit of a problem. I will be using The Lobotomizer for sometime, but i don't know what i should do if Core Hound Tooth drops. Should i replace it with Lobo for an OH?

In this day it is still a decent stat stick/offhand for physical damage classes, thought it is out dated. Since its MC loot and easy to acquire, Hunter's who want to spend on it should be able too. :)

This never dropped ... 7 month in MC so far !
Had to buy it off of another guild (all rogues equipped .... lol)

On the other hand we had 5perditions in 8 kills :)

As a 17/34 Dw fury specced war, this is the best offhand i've ever seen.. still hasn't dropped in 4 months domo farming -_-
