40 Splinters are collected and when combined with the part off Kel'Thuzad and the other part from C'thun, you complete a quest chain and form Atiesh Greatstaff of the Guardian

Theres a different staff for mage, warlock, druid, and priest, with each class having a unique aura.

Does the whole group get 1 splinter each? Or only 1 can get the splinter?

im lv 53 now and i want to try and get the staff before wotlk. is it worth wile to try and get it or will it be replaced with outland items. and if so, is it still possible to get a group for the raids.

This was the best staff in the pre-BC game, but now it is worthless except just to say that you have it. The +150 spell damage is easily outdone by numerous BC staves; for example, the S2 Merciless Gladiator PvP staff has +225 spell damage, plus has better stats on stamina and intelligence, and only costs around 27,000 Honor points. For that matter, there are some one-hands that do better than this; the Scryer's Blade of Focus is +247 spell damage and only costs 150 BoJs...and it is FAR easier getting 5-10 people together for a heroic dungeon/Kara/ZA than it is to get at least that many 70s together for a raid where the epic drops are not going to be as good as many BC blues. And as for the "teleport to Kara" power, not only can mages now teleport to Stonard/Nethergarde Keep for a short run to Kara, but players can also teleport directly to Kara from Shattrath City one they reach revered with the Violet Eye.

Even if you find enough friends willing to do Naxx with you until you collect 40 shards before the expansion, I would suggest just sitting on them until WotLK goes live and see if there is a level 80 version of this, and then pray that it uses the same shards to make it. If it does, you are in fantastic position to be the first person in the world to have the staff. If not...well, see if your friends will help you get the rest of it so you can have a pretty trophy on the wall. In reality, the best reason to run Naxx at this time would be just to become familiar with the layout and how it works so that you're better prepared for it in the expansion, assuming that Blizz doesn't make too many changes to it. There is no level 80 version of this, and with the original Naxxramas being removed from the game, this item is no longer attainable. There is a similar item being introduced in the Ulduar instance in patch 3.1.0, but it is a healer mace item, so mages and locks are once again without any legendary items they can win and wield.

Edit: My mistake; I thought the Violet Eye guy in the World's End Tavern would teleport you to Kara once you reached revered just as the Keepers of TIme representative at the opposite bar does to the Caverns of Time. Looks like such is not the case. In any event, though, what I said earlier about the "teleport everyone to Kara" function of the staff is still trivial at best, and really outdated with the mage ports to Stonard/Nethergard Keep.

Yeah, they just put Apprentice Tasserel in to give people a starter quest for the Karazhan key quest chain.

I think you mean Stonard/Theramore. ;) But yes, even without teleporting, you can always just fly back to the Portal and take a quick ride to Karazhan, then summon your party. It's not a big deal.

I can confirm that players are unable to obtain splinters in the level 80 version of Naxxramas.

It's actually quite funny to see this item is listed under "Junk" while it, tbh, really isnt in my oppinion ^^;

Anyway now that they won't drop anymore one could say it's junk. Gratz to the ppl who have Atiesh. =) Take good care of it ^^;

It seems you must combine 40 splinters together to make the Frame, which then starts a quest. Presumably, this quest will be crazy-hard, and I'd be willing to bet that killing Kel'Thuzad is a requirement.

Some people took screen shots of the staff info from the test realms. /drool

Several of the Naxx bosses seem to drop them, as some members of top guilds already have 2 or 3 splinters.

Personally i think if you are drooling over this thing and you are determined to get it you will eventueally, but the thing is once TBC comes out there will likely be better staves anyway. Its a very nice staff though and I want one

i am at an epic level. i am 60 :) and i do BWL/MC/ a little aq 40 and im still so pissed i will never get it because i am not an officer and there are a lot of priests/mages/druids/loks that want it as much as me. im just gonna keep drooling over it lol. but when i 1st saw benediction when i was a nub i thought i would never get it and i hav it now, so anythign is possible :D.

you can get this staff in wow, and it can teleport you into karazhan but karazhan combes in tbc..

Ok, the tons and tons of spinters to form this thing drop from each of the bosses in Naxx. The head of it is with Kel'Thuzzad. So, you get this if you clear Naxxramas, kill Kelthuzad, and are lucky enough to have every single boss drop one of those.

Druids can wear 2H maces also, WITH TRAINING, as for shamans, IT IS A TALANT.

But we dont get the staff... Because of bubbleboys.

you need:

40x Splinter of Atiesh
1x Head of Atiesh (Kel'Thuzad Drop)
and another part which can be found somewhere in Silithus (the elfish mage says, Brann Bronzebeard keeps it hidden)

anybody got any idea why shamans and paladins (I'm assuming paladins can wield staves) can't collect these splinters and therefore wield atiesh?

It seems like Blizzard has been saying for ages "thou shalt heal, thou haveth pure healing T3 sets", they've updated both the healing trees of both classes and the spelldamage tree for shamans, yet neither class can use such an amazing magic-user weapon

Just seems lame to me

And no, I'm not a shaman/pally - I used to play shaman but rerolled alliance rogue so it doesn't actually affect me (we get Thunderfury and Andonius - assuming it's in the game as yet - to play with)

i see that the bosses in naxx can drop this, but my question is how many can u loot from one boss ?

only 1 splinter, or is it somehow random like 2-5 splinters or something ...

please only answer if u succesfully raid naxx and plz no "i think" replys ;)

drop chance is around 30 - 40% for the splinters got 4 from 4 bosses one week 0 from 5 bosses second week 2 from 5 bosses third week. and best guess for the head and bottom part is that its 100% drop when you accept the quest from the 40 splinters. ( else this bran bronzebeard part would have had dropped allready somewhere for at least one of the giulds running aq ). tho nobody has 40 splinters allready and evrything is just guess guess guess( dt and dues vox guy should be very close to it ).

Shamans and Paladins get the hand of Ragnaros.
Warriors and Rogues get Thunderfury.
Hunters don't get much after Rokh'Delar... Although they could get TF :p (sorry)
Druids/Priests/Mages/Warlocks get Atiesh.

And hence everyone gets an orange weapon.

The Splinters are probably the easy part.. The other 2 peices will probably be a pain in the ass to get, like the peices for hand of rag and thunderfury It should be a very rare drop..

Are the drop rates correct or is it skewed due to people not having the quests yet? Anyone with the quest wanna let us know what the drop rate is i've heard 15%, 50% and 100%. I would really like to know how much time this item really takes.

I Believe Brann Bronzebeard was eaten by Ouro The Great Sandworm, so that should be the place it drops.

ur fuc*ing stupid if you say druids can use hand of rag... thats pure damage. druids need that for = Equip: Restores 11 mana per 5 sec.
Equip: Increases healing done by spells and effects by up to 300.
Equip: +420 Attack Power in Cat, Bear, and Dire Bear forms only.
Equip: Restores 11 mana every 5 sec to party members within 30 yards.
AND
+28 Intellect
+27 Spirit
druids= horrible regen rate and unsensible mp.
now. generally... most druids are resto am i right..so this staff is a perfect staff for droods
