1: Afaik they stack with anything, and are great when you don't have mana problems (note that it triggers a 3 min cd while managem triggers a 2 min one)

2: I am not too sure about its procrate, but it might be just as good for rogues, since a healthstone is the only thing they can use in the same category

side note: for some weird reason it can be used while mounted

As a rogue, I made a fun macro. It casts Flame Cap, then Haste potion, then Blade flurry. It's pretty simple and a whole lotta fun.

There's some incorrect information here. As of patch 2.2.3, these do NOT trigger potion cooldown. The only cooldowns they trigger are Healthstones, mana gems, and other Herbalism items (Fel Blossom, Nightmare Seed, and I'd assume that Blood Elf stuff). Health/Mana potions and elixirs are unaffected.

One thing to note is that using these puts your gem/health stone timer on a 3 min. cool down (as opposed to 2 min for using a mana gem/health stone). For a fire mage these are awesome for burst damage when combined with other cool downs like trinkets/combustion/heroism. When 2.3.2 comes I can't wait to try these out with heroism+icy veins+destruction potion+trinket+combustion >:).

This comes in quite handy as a lock tank in the Leotheras fight as you will usually use searing pain to gain aggro when he switches to demon form.

Usually your healers should be able to keep you alive and a healthstone does not save you from dying so the shared CD is not really a problem.

typically procs 6 times in a minute when i'm in kitty form doing ~45 damage each time.

That's a total of 270 damage over 3 minutes or 1.5 dps.

Even with a Serpent-Coil Braid, fire mages will see higher dps popping flame caps and mana pots than mana emeralds and destro pots, since the flame cap buff lasts so long.

As a fire destro lock I've been using these during our timed ZA runs. We generally run w/ a resto shammy in the caster group so on each boss, when heroism is up, I use this along w/ a destruction potion -- very nice burst damage.

These are one of very few things that proc for shapeshifted druids.

Sadly you can't eat one *while* shapeshifted, but if, for instance, you have to pop out and heal and shift back, it wouldn't hurt.

This item behaves exactly like destruction potions in terms of then you should use it.

For fights like Brutallus, M'uru, Shade of Akama, and Felmyst depending on your raid set up, this item is vastly superior over a mana gem for a mage with 4 piece t6. You shouldn't have mana issues, as your evocate will restore 80% of your mana now, and your shadow priests SHOULD be doing around 1200-1400 dps.

For instance, on fights like Brutallus, I use my Icon, combustion, icy veins, destro pot, and flame cap at the very beggining of the fight. I then use destro pots and my icon every time their cooldowns are up. I then save my 2nd icy veins, combustion, and this item for 20-25%. This puts me at about 1900-2200 dps atm (not done gearing) depending on my bloodlusts.

So, of course, this item is very situational, but on any fight where you don't have any mana issues (and have some extra gold lying around, flame caps and destro pots are very expensive on my server), flame cap + destro pot is the absolutely maximum dps you can achieve with consumables.

i already got the flame cap in
and i reallyed on mana pot
i did also got curse of elemental
and imp scorch on him

just the bad thing is that it never crited :(

Very handy for any melee class, Warlocks and Mages for fights where a healthstone/mana gem may be exchanged for that extra bit of needed DPS, ie: Reliquary of Souls.

It looks like wotlk hasn't brought any replacements for this, as the comparable fire seed does not share a cooldown.

So it would seem that in encounters where healthstones or mana gems aren't necessary, that these will still provide an advantage.

This seems rather stupid to me, especially since supply will be almost nonexistent. Or am I missing something?

Once a mage obtains 2 pieces of tier 7, then this item is negligible at best, as it shares the cooldown with the mana gem. Over a 6 minutes period, 225 spellpower over 15 sec can be used 3 times whilst 80 spellpower can be only be used twice.

This gives basically a choice between 80 fire spellpower for 2 minutes or 225 spellpower for all schools for 45 seconds and about 14200 mana back.

I still use these as a destro lock, and they are an awesome little dps increase for a minute.

Great when used with Bloodlust, Molten Core proc, and Potion of Speed.

(It shares cd with Healthstones)

Blah... Was thinking I would compare this to my T7 2 piece bonus. (Mage)

Flame Cap 80 Fire SP * 60 seconds / 3 minute cooldown = 26.666 SP when you even it out.
Mana Gem 225 SP * 15 seconds / 2 minute cooldown = 28.125 SP also evened out.

So, for all you mages, stick with the mana gem. Sending a bunch of these to my Warlock now.

I consider these a must-have for my raids (I'm a Demo Warlock), and it comes as a surprise that these are largely overlooked by (or perhaps unknown to) many people.

Me self is still using that thing as Arcane mage linked in a macro with my flame orb.

The extra damage is maby very small but this thing does not share cool-downs with any of my CD and every extra damage even so small is welcome :)

Effect = 1min it is great to burn dps for finish a boss when u make fire damage. I will not buy it, fire dmg potion during 1 hour is enough. Just using mine for free.

erm... actually. this would be better for hunters than for either warlocks or mages....

It triggers cooldowns on mana gems and healthstones... so bad idea for warlocks/mages.

The extra dps from ranged attacks might actually help hunters.. and when was the last time a hunter needed a health stone? .... erm... a SKILLED hunter needed a health stone?

Bad idea for tanks/melee dps due to their need of Healthstones.

Anyone know if these add to searing totem damage? I'm thinking that one of the best uses for these would be for elemental shaman when they're fighting nature immune mobs.

I've been searching for little ways to increase damage for my Fire Mage for AOE mob grinding. Combustion really opens the floodgates on AOE possibilities, and combined with Flame Cap Wizard Oil, Elixir of Firepower, Vengeance of the Illidari and Poached Bluefish, you can INCINERATE a large number of mobs in no time. The only real trick to it is writing the macro to activate/drink all of your stuff at the same time. So to use all of the previously mentioned stuff, your macro should look like this:
/use Flame Cap
/use Vengeance of the Illidari
/cast Combustion
/cast Flamestrike

I put Flamestrike because that's personally what I open with. First I ride around and aggro a large number of mobs, then I get them into position and Frost Nova them in place. Next I use the macro and center my Flamestrike on the mass of enemies. After that, I can usually get another Flamestrike in by centering it on myself. You have to time this right so that the spell goes off right as the mobs reach you. If you start casting too early, the mobs won't take the brunt of your spell's damage, and if you start too late, you'll get wailed on some before it goes off, if it does at all. After the 2nd Flamestrike I Blast Wave, Dragon's Bearth and then Ice Block until the CD on Frost Nova is up, then I Frost Nova and Flamestrike twice more. If any survive I just pick them off with Fire Blast and Scorch and Blink as needed. If i run out of mana I have Potions and of course my Mana Ruby. So far my record is 5 yellow mobs at once that I've defeated with this method (they were Buzzards in Hellfire Peninsula: I'm 60 ATM), and I hope to break that record soon.

says it shares the CD with my mana gem? this is either an opener or just plain and simply useless. as a mage the mana gem is very important in boss fights.
i raid SSC and i have to use a mana pot and mana gem every oppertune unless i have mana generators in my team.

destro locks might get away with using it. but it shares the CD with their health stones.
