You should read up on what Fel Armor does now...30% of spirit adds to our spell damage. Also, it allows mana regen while casting, so spirit is far more useful come wrath than it is now. If you want big crits and your hit rating is in good shape (which I doubt since the numbers are going to be inflated again) this is a great weapon.

This staff convinces me to roll an orc warlock. Best looking staff in game imo. Now someone needs to tell the guild leader that the main tank rerolled a lock to be like Gul'dan the most powerful warlock ever.

For a smooth 580 +dam, from two items vs the 408 from this staff.

I'd have to imagine this staff is supposed to have between 500 and 550 +dam. If not, this staff is pretty much useless.

I stopped reading after this. Warlocks dont have manareg like other caster classes.

this staff should have 461 base SP (213 itemlvl SP weapon),not 408 (200 itemlvl SP weapon)

It just $%^&es me off how dumb warlocks and boomkin druids rolling on that staff when it gives them like 1 point in spell damage. It's a healer's staff - best for restro druids. We get 30% mana regen while casting. Boomkins drood can get a nice spell damage dagger with spell hit and haste and get an offhand and do more spell damge. There are great caster dps swords drop in Naxx too and droods can't use swords.

So before you roll on that staff because it has spirit : 1) Consider your healer who's keeping you alive and has to have lots of mana to keep tanks up. 2) Don't be a loot $%^&*, think about other weapons how they can benefit u more and other classes can't use them or won't roll on them.

Haste beats crit point for point for boomkin druids. Simple fact of the matter is that unless the gear has spell hit on it or lacks any spirit, boomkins and trees are going to be going after the same gear.

As a Holy Priest, this is the second best staff in the game (pre patch). Provides ample intellect, spirit, and crit.

This staff is second only to Staff of Restraint (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=40455) which drops off of Heroic The Obsidian Sanctum.

Confirmed. This drops from 4 Horsemen in Heroic ( 25 man) Naxx. It shows up as chestdrop on wowhead because the 4 horsemen drop a chest instead of having 4 separate loot piles like the Illidari Council.

I just got this staff tonight, and I kept telling everyone the stats didn't seem high enough, but they said I was just imagining it. When I replace my Titansteel Guardian + Prison Manifest with Damnation, I get:

+20 stamina (meh)
+44 intellect
+51 spirit
+91 critical strike rating
-133 spell power

I lose a fair amount of spell power, but considering the other stats I gain, it seems a fair trade-off. And since I'm a resto druid, the extra spirit is very nice. But still.. considering that the Titansteel Guardian is a lower level item, I knew that the spell power on Damnation just had to be a mistake. I mean, you can get a +408 spell power staff from one of the 5-man heroics...

Well, I'm glad to find out that I was right. When 3.0.8 gets here, the spell power on my Damnation and on my Titansteel Guardian will be fairly evened out. Until then, I'll probably only be using Damnation for my Balance set.

I was just on the PTR and Damnation is getting a spell power buff from 408 to 461! Its damage was definitely too low and I'm glad they fixed it!

We had this finally drop for the first time.. and I won it :) It's like many people said before: noone wanted it, because of the "low" spellpower. I still had the Charmed Cierge and as I am a Holy Priest I thought it'd be nice to receive some more crit :D So I took it.. and i LOOOOVE the look of it 8)

Edit: Where did you read about the spell power change? :) Can't find anything about it.. :X

Was buffed in 3.0.8 to have the same spellpower as the Staff of Restraint: https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=40455

Now its a small trade off of int for some crit, making them very comparable

I got this tonight in heroic naxx off gluth for my lock. It replaced my spellscalpel and the violet OH thing, which meant that I had to enchant it with accuracy and get a couple rigid autumn's glow to stay hit capped.

Staff wise this is one of two that casters should consider(talking best in teir 7 content). Im not saying its best for any certain type of caster, thats really up to what stat the caster is looking for. Compairing it to https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=40455(Staff of Restraint) you gain 23 crit rating, lose 22 Int, and stamina wise who cares in raids.

And about resto druids, since that seems to be debated on crit all over. Crit IS NOT crucial, but it helps with our actual heals, and our lifeblooms. no we shouldnt focus on it, but its nice to have. Also look at our healing, not 100% is HoTs, some of it is our other things, and crits are very nice on those.

This staff is technically an oddly itemized Warlock staff. Back in BC, warlock items were notorious for stacking a lot of stamina to combat life tapping. its only natural that blizzard wanted to keep that tradition. stam being the highest, with spirit, leads me to believe this. this is not to say that it is a warlock staff however. it is only suggested by its itemization

Got this staff on my lock a few weeks back, Didn't like the fact that there was no hit on it, but as a destro lock and nearly hit capped, this staff is amazing.

As an Undead lock, we don't get the draeni ofc, so when we have no shadow priests or imp FF Boomkins (damn them), I equip https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=39424#comments and https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=40273#dropped-by for the hit. If I have a feeling I will be ok on hit, i eat some +hit foot, stack my hit gear and equip this baby and watch the crit jump. It is all about reitemizing...really

also this staff is IMBA in arena, 111 stam...amazing

With the new +81 SP 'chant in 3.1 I see staff getting a lot more respect than they currently do. That extra SP with the obviously insane stats that staffs bring, will easily bring them inline with MH/OH.

Just got this for my priest. Being shadow the spellpower and intelect is killer, and spirit surely helps for regen (SP raid purpose to regen mana for others, being + mana all the time is important).

Would anyone disagree that this thing suits a Shadow priest?

What reagents will be needed for the new 81 SP enchant?

Great Staff for boomkins, the crit helps all our procs and with improved moonkin aura spirit gives us SP, sadly when this dropped for me i rolled a 24 =(

You know... this happened to me in 25 man naxx last night. Yes, I have a warlock and yes I also have a druid.
This staff is pretty sweet for both because of the spirit and spell power....but...personally as a resto druid I wouldn't dare take this over a warlock/priest.
Down rate me if you like but it's true, resto druids should go as follows SP, Spirit, Haste... crit should be the last thing on your list.

Don't take it just because it looks pretty >:(
Thank god it droped again for me on Gluth and I won it on my warlock :)

I uploaded a screenshot with it on my lock with S2/T5 looks pretty cool.
on a side note wowhead shows it dropping from Gluth, but I got mine from Four Horseman 25man.

Not exactly sure why people prefer transmogging 'around' wrath of the lich king, you usually see people with Classic or TBC gear, yet beauties like this are often forgotten and left behind. I picked mine up last night, and got Sorte Benigna in the process, sweet looking weapons that don't deserve to lay dormant.
