A superb dps staff for a druid, and the 93 stamina is decent for tanking too (if you have alternate gear that puts you near armor cap) since I don't know the difficulty of the Northrend instances, I can't say for sure. But a really nice blue to get at level 74.

This (at the very least) equals the Stanchion of Primal Instinct DPS-wise, if not better. It'll be useful for tanking trash or instances for which you are overgeared, however considering the latest blue-posts about feral endgame-tanking then I'm afraid hitting the armor cap is a thing of the past.

mm, the crazy thing is, us druids are going to uncrittable through talents and crushing blows are nowq the thing of the past. This sort of staff onlypleases me greatly :) I love how I can actually concentrate on some pwnage dps, I got a comment last weekend about my ~900 in cat form (I know it's not Sunwell stylez, but who takes a feral dps in there anyways hahahaha :P) So i'm looking forward to touching heights with at least warriors and retadins... tho beating a retadin at dps is like trying to run straight through chain pyroblasts... It looks like it can be done, but you're burnt before you get there

Extra armor on feral staves is going away (those with armor will most likely be buffed in other regards to make up the stat allocation per quality and item level). If you're shopping around for upgrades in the expansion remember to keep this in mind.

Sadly the worst part about this weapon is that Mongoose and other enchants don't seem to have any animation on it ><.

Other than that it's a great feral staff for when you more or less are starting out in Northrend.

Just got it today, its pretty easy to obtain, all you have to do is do the wanted quest that you can pick up when you first get to Zul"Darak(or however its spelt).

haste for a feral bear = massive increase in dps - not sure about catform, since the difference isn't that great from 1sec to 0.9

but with a bear 10% haste means going from 2.5 to 2.25 - which is a big leap, meaning more hit-2-things-at-once mauls a lot more often

heck, at 70 my druid, with the pre-WoTlk undead slaying gear was doing 1.6K maul crits on targets with the mangle debuff. and it was doing it OFTEN thanks to the haste from that gear.

This may be designed for a druid but its worth noting that its also one of the best hunter weapons you will find at that level. If you just ignore the AP bonus for shapeshifting you would swear it was made for a hunter. :) Even compared to weapons like the icier barbed spear from a harder quest in the same zone this is arguably better.

Would the +35 agi enchant be the best enchant for this weapon? Or would Mongoose be a better fit? I kind of miss seeing strength on this, but everything else is awesome.

Please don't hate me guys, but I use this on my 75 hunter (http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Nagrand&n=Zandari) lol

The thing is, i was using https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=35870 before (i know, sucks but what the hell) & i like using 2-handed because im survival spec (i find that with 2-handed, i get to deal more damage whenever i get myself into a melee engagement) so i needed an upgrade

So ya, it gives me a decent haste & a pretty impressive crit rate (+2%) so now my crit is around 28% chance

So to all you droods out there... i apologize if my use of such a weapon is insulting lol
& if any of you can recommend me a weapon more suited for my character, I'd be more than happy to listen :)

Can anyone tell us the stats of this for the next patch for non-druids? Even though you get the Icier Barbed Spear a level later, it'd still be a cool weapon choice for that level and maybe longer depending on whether or not you can get a group to get the IBS.

Can anyone verify that this item will not take a glow from an enchant?

I have now had Greater Potency and currently have Greater Savagery on it and still no glow...

Am I just fighting a losing battle here?

I just got this today and threw Greater Savagery on it and no glow, so I can confirm this.

That's why I came to wowhead in the first place, to see if anyone else had the same problem.

This staff now has both a regular white glow and gets a red glow from greater savagery as of 4.14.09

I see, there are some people who never tanked in the expansion. Maul is much more valuable than ever. All you have to do now as a bear tank, hit mangle then maul while mangle cooldowns and so on. So, what's better than Maul? More maul, what you can achieve by haste.

Actually Swipe became viable as well since 3.x removed the 3 mob limit and now it hits all mobs in front of you...yes Maul is ok when your down to 1-2 mobs, but there is one problem with it, it eats up your white damage and so you don't gain rage as fast while as swipe is done as an instant rather then "next swing" and so you are getting your "white damage" rage regardless to using swipe or not since it doesn't replace your white damage swing... in fact depending on how many mobs you are AoEing its possible to even GAIN rage using swipe since with talents every crit nets you 5 rage, and well if swipe crits on 4 mobs it costed 15 rage to gain 20 + didn't eat your white damage...

And yes I have tested this in "low" level isntances pulling 10-15 mobs, casting swipe and seeing if I gain rage for every crit it lands, unless it was a bug that they fix in the future I was gaining 5 rage for each mob that swipe crited on.

As a BM Hunter, I prefer this over the Icier Barbed Spear.
Haste is always a good thing, and the massive amount of stamina on this thing is much better than the spear's, which in turn increases my pet's health. This is also quite a bit easier to get.

And I can also confirm that it glows green, as the first thing I did was enchant it with Agility.
