Barrage costs more per cast than Blast (thanks to the Blast debuff), but less than a MBarr proc would. Since you can't glyph Blast for reduced cost, though, it's kinda pointless to not take this glyph because it's not as good as a cast reduction on Blast would be.

Because Arcane has two main nukes, its glyphs are pretty much set in stone now - ABarr, Blast, and Molten Armor.

Edit: This glyph indirectly affects your DPS because it increases the time between evocates on a three-blast rotation. (I would estimate it to be ~5% more time between evocates.)

This isn't that great a glyph for pve. The staple glyphs for arcane are arcane blast, arcane missiles and molten armor.

Arcane barrage gives you a bit more dps at the expense of dpm versus stacked (arcane blast buff) AM. With this glyph you could get better dpm but you'd have to swap out one of the three above; this glyph isn't a significant buff over those three. In pve I don't use it in my rotation unless I'm moving so why would I glyph for it> It wouldn't be a dramatic increase in my dps or dpm.

With the coefficient and cooldown nerfs arcane barrage became less useful for pvp as well but still important. So I see this as more of a pvp glyph than anything.

Also the person who stated that the 57/3/11 spec is for dpm is wrong despite your linking to the arcane thread at Elitist Jerks. You go 11 in frost to pickup precision and icy veins for the hit and haste cooldown respectively. While you can use IV for a faster evo, that's really for dps not dpm. 57/3/11 is the highest single target dps for arcane and really not about dpm. The general pve alternative spec is 51/20/0, which picks up improved scorch.

Obviously you don't have a lot of knowledge about arcane.

As a very experienced Mage I find Arcane Barrage to be one of the weakest end talents of all classes. I think if this Glyph need to be changed to +20% damage instead of -20% mana cost. I use Arcane Barrage only if I am moving. What is sad is that even with a +20% damage Glyph I really doubt I'd use the Glyph still! I just don't see any PvE viability from Arcane Barrage atm. Unless your moving lol. As for PvP a +20% or -1-2 sec Arcane Barrage cooldown would be very nice for this spell. ARCANE MAGES DON'T NEED ANYTHING ELSE TO HELP WITH MANA! (we already have massive mana pools, regen and evocation every 2 mins if needed.

I believe arcane barrage is more of a PvP inteded spell.I don't use it often in PvE, but in close combat PvP it's the best spell an arcane mage has.The -20% spellcost might be intended for that purpose, since player vs player is about mobility and burst, and PvP gear doesn't offer mana regeneration at all and much less intellect that raiding gear.This might be (but it's only speculation) a glyph inteded for PvP , so you don' run out of mana so fast.HOWEVER,considering the alternative glyphs for PvP as arcane , wich are not so many, presuming you use Glyph of arcane missles and Glyph of mana gem and ofc Glyph of evocation I don't see wich one could be replaced with this.
Also, to Templore, a very experienced mage wouldn't downrate a 51 talent point spell just because you don't use it or you don't find a use for it yourself.It is in fact a very usefull spell and very powerfull if used right.Not all talents are inteded for PvE raiding.

Personally, I feel that if no one in the raid can be bothered to click on your ritual, they don't deserve free food. Most of the time, you're standing at the doorway for five minutes while people get ready, it wouldn't kill them to take the time to click the ritual.
