Got 4 of these in my second bag. I plan to do what I did with the vendorfish and save them up slowly, next time someone asks for a loan I'll give them a few stacks of these.

Or save them under the mattress for a rainy day, whatever comes first.

Apparently this coin contains more gold than a solid gold bar which is only worth 6 silver to vendors. It must weigh a ton and be huge considering a gold bar usually weighs 12.5 kg (London Good Delivery Bars which are traded internationally).
Now far be it from me to try to input reason to this game where certain pigs in a certain arid farming zone, I won't name which, often lack snouts, spleans, hearts and other organs. But still, come on Blizzard. A little consistency in gold value please. We all do love the goldz.

It's kind of interesting that you get 1 gold each for these bad boys while you just get 1 silver 25 copper for the ones you get from the fountain in Dalaran... Maybe vendors like solid cash better than old coins, thrown in a fountain by famous people?

Ordinary paper is worth much less than paper money hence gold bars can be worth less than solid gold coins. With currency, the price has nothing to do with the inherent value of the materials from which it is made from it is the promise of the bearer the sum of the value of the currency presented.

Also, as many forums suggest, it is not that the pigs lack snouts, livers, hearts and other organs, the drop rate should be viewed as the probability that you are able to remove said parts without damaging them to the point that they are no longer saleable to a vendor. After all, you're an adventurer not a butcher!

Also it should always be remembered that this is actually a computer game and that if you have no problems with the magical items, portals to other worlds, the living dead etc then you shouldn't have issues with the value of a gold coin!

I'm pretty sure this is a reference to World of Warcraft, where the highest denomination of liquid currency is measured in gold coins.

200 for mount or 1,800 for Swift Blue Wind Rider/Swift Snowy Gryphon
1,000 for cold weather flying=
6,200 or 8,000 if you want to spend more money for just a colored mount.

Tolki: HE didn't tell you that HE used HIS for toilet paper. And tissues.

And obviously you only get 1 gold for these becasue 1) They ARE regular gold coins and 2) Your character does not have enough intellgience to convince th evendor that it is a priceless artifact from forgotten civilizations long past. The int requirement to do this is expressed by this formula: your intelligence plus one.

As the icon on Wowhead suggests, Solid Gold Coin(s) only stack to a max of 20.

owls (in ancient Greece always) symbolised wisdom and knowledge. In a city were the residents are all mages/knowledge seekers, i don't find that strange.

As of 3.3.3 i suddenly have one of these in my inventory. My fishing skill is only 140ish and ive never fished in dalaran...

Anyone else getting this?

Well after contacting a GM, It would appear that you will find them in your bags if you have faction transfered, and lost any faction Specific quest starting Items. There may be more reasons for receiving them, but this is the one i was given.

Knowing vendors (who buy anything you have for like 5x as low as you bought it) this coin is probably more like 5 gold...

If Chuck Norris has a Gold Coin, and you have a Gold Coin, Chuck Norris would have this Gold Coin.

What I meant was that this Gold Coin is worth 4 gold coins.. Duuh.. :p
