As a hunter, it upsets me that they would put expertise on an agility cloak. Obviously they'll add a cloak useful for hunters, but it'll also be useful for all the other classes. I know, more hunter QQ, but I wish they would keep things like expertise on class-specific gear. Oh well, here's hoping hunters get a real 251 cloak.

Drops from the first boss in Icecrown Citadel, Lord Marrowgar. It's a pretty good cloack as far as I am concerned (warrior fury), with some expertise that will help keep up with the soft cap. Gem slot will help you socket in a convenient way according to your spec. And it's a red one with that !

Someone mentionned it being "transparent" in the model viewer, didn't see that on live. I need to check and report back here to confirm !

EDIT : as far as the screenshots currently posted go... well it ain't transparent. Will check on my character though ;)

Perfect fit for ANY melee dps class and yes I do mean hunters too.

Expertise does nothing for Hunters because ranged attacks cannot be dodged or parried. If you are a Hunter, you should never roll against a melee class for an item that has Expertise.

Even if no melee players in your raid roll on a particular Expertise drop, you still should not use that item because a significant amount of 'item budget' is spent on Expertise instead of a stat you would actually benefit from. Equipping an item with Expertise is likely to hurt your DPS if you are a Hunter, even if the item is a higher iLevel than what you're already wearing.

That means, for a Hunter, an iLevel 245 cloak with AP, Crit and ArP is better than an iLevel 251 cloak with AP, Crit and Expertise.

I don't understand how so many Hunters can reach the level cap and progress deep into end-game content like ICC without knowing something so fundamental as this.

Also, I'd just like to say it's amusing watching the rating on my previous comment creep up, then plummet down every day or two as bitter Hunters downrank it. Seriously, guys, relax. The energy spent downranking could be put to better use educating your fellow Hunters about which stats are good for them and why.

Hey, aside from the usless for a hunter fact, great for a shamman fact. Do NOT forget about the rogues, T10 puts rogues on a nasty Hit budget, this cape has a ton of hit. Also they use Expertise. This cloak is clearly itemized for 2 different class's. Sorry hunters you aren't one of them.

This should not be overlooked as a Tanking cloak, especially if you have a lack of Rogues and Enhancement Shamans in your raid. For those who are still sporting the Platinum Mesh Cloak, you're looking at a 0.5% avoidance drop and in exchange for 8 Stamina (assuming Solid Majestic Zircon for the gem), 8 Hit and a whopping 56 Expertise.

For most of us who are well over Defense cap and given the lack of Expertise on tanking gear in Icecrown, this is most definitely an option!

P.S. Yes, I know - if you want to get technical, you lose a small amount of block value from the Strength and gain a small amount of armor from the Agility. I didn't consider this to be substantial enough in either direction to be included in the weighting.

What if a hunter is using a lvl 213 cloak fron naxx and hasnt been able to find an upgrade coz of bad luck and bad drop rate and would like to use it as no one else is rolling in the group. If it is better than what a hunter is currently using and if no one else wants it then i think a hunter can use it for time being and can go for better upgrade later on..

Compared to Hammerhead Sharkskin Cloak (the emblem cloak... there's no excuse to not have that one or better given how easy emblems are to get) this gives 44 agi, 10 ap, 41 hit and 1 socket. That's at a loss of 43 crit and 32 haste. Assuming all of these are roughly equal, you do gain the equivalent of 15 agi and the socket.

So yes, technically, this is an upgrade from an ilvl 213 cloak. However: This is a well-itemized cloak for any melee DPS, who will have a much larger increase from this than we do. Further, there's Recovered Scarlet Onslaught Cape, which is obtainable through EoF and a massive improvement over this for hunters. If you're raiding Icecrown with a 213 cloak, it's probably one of your only 213 items left, and one of the hardest to upgrade (i.e. the only one without an upgrade found through the new heroics, EoT or ICC 10), so bite the bullet and spend your first 50 emblems on a shiny new cape.

If that's not possible for whatever reason, there are 219's obtainable through both the AH and the new normal dungeons, and a BoE 245 from TotC. Almost all of those are a better option.

I lead a raid today and I gave this cloak to a dps feral druid over a tanking feral druid, even tho the tank (whom I know IRL) won the roll. I thought that this was more of a dps cloak and not at all for tanks.

I told the druid who said "Hey its an upgrade from Ice Strikers" that even though it's an upgrade, its not for him.

Was I right to do this? Is this really for druid tanks more than dps?

How good is this for mutilate rogues ? I have not seen it drop but i would take it to replace my 226 EoC expertise belt with a 245 version.

This would have been a lovely upgrade if it were not for the exp which is a waste for me as a warrior tank and even for my rogue this is going side ways but how ever the extra agility and the red socket I can manage but changing my red as well yellow gems around. On my warrior tank I got 23 gem sockets so I will be swapping out several orange gems out for strait 20 haste gems which I already have on hand hehe thanks to being a 450 JC (love the trinkets it brings and some times kill ppl of the same faction by accident lol). I much rather have armor pen on this cloak so I don't have to waste the red socket but instead could use it for 20 agility or 20 strength red gem. I would like either a armor pen or a haste version of this cloak Blizzard and not every one wants a exp version.

Good upgrade for me as a Ret Paladin as Im saving frost for a 2p T10 not on the cloak. I was still using Aged Winter Cloak from Nax25 and Gemed in a Bold Card ruby for 20+ str and getting +22 AGI chanted tomorrow on it of course. But melee DPS dont overlook it either, its a nice cloak though a str one drops form surfang but I havn't seen it drop yet myself and no one else tonight needed it so I won it. It did up my DPs quite a bit on single target and on mobs by about 200DPS so dont overlook if your still using an older cloak.

When have u guys seen a melee hunter?
I would recommend saving ur emblems of frost and getting the onslaught cloak.

As a Bear Tank wearing 4 piece Tier 10 (including Ikfirus's Sack of Wonder) I am scrambling to get over the hit cap. Would I be crazy to stick with this instead of upgrading to Sentinel's Winter Cloak?
