Got one a few days ago in Twilight Highlands ... not sure off of what mob since I was picking a lot and every so often I stop to open locks when my inventory space gets tight.

I was thinking of dropping my combat spec, so I tried to sell it for an exorbitant price, but there wasn't anyone crazy rich enough to buy it. Nobody bought it, so I'll take it as a sign that I should be using it.

I have no idea how many pockets I've picked, but its a lot.

Hell yeah just got this sick puppy after aprox 6 hours hard farming in "ruins of vashj'ir".

Edit: Just got a second one, after 100-150 more boxes of useless junk, and 1-1½ hours farming in Vashj.

Just got while farming in Deepholm on Kilrogg server. Totally worth it.

Edit: Just got The Twilight Blade from the same place. It looks like the common time frame to get these is about 6 hours.

Hmm could it be that ive seen this blade on auction house but then in the heroic version ?

if its right what ive seen how can i farm the heroic one .

maybe going raid heroic's and pick lock them ?

I just got this sweet looking sword while doing the quest "In the Rear With the Gear". I was easting dinner and was just pickpocketing the mobs while they walked by since new ones constantly spawn. Picked 12 box's and was lucky enough to get this. Great place to pick though since the mobs just keep walking by.

After about 3000 boxes I finally got mine. Strongly suggest the broken front in Deepholm the area cannot be rivaled for picking boxes anywhere else in the game. A week worth of farming, hope that your luck is better it was a long slow grind.

I've been running around trying to get Spinerender, and on my last pickpocket run through the lost city, I catch a glimpse of purple text and I'm like "Aww, yeeah!"

Then I read that text and I'm like "Awww, damn..." Since I really have no desire to go back to combat, I guess it's just a matter of seeing how much I can get for it.

Pre-heroic BiS for combat rogues. Only replaced by the Heroic Nef axe and the Heroic Double Dragons sword.

Combat gets overlooked a lot, which I think is a shame. Yeah it's less single target than assassination when you're in blues, but once you're in epics that gap gets smaller and smaller, and by the time you're geared out in BiS simulators say combat should be ahead of mutilate on single-target fights. Combat obviously pulls ahead on any fight where you can Blade Flurry (Omnotron, Halfus), and also on fights where the boss takes increasing damage that line up with Combat's cooldowns (Magmaw) and fights where you can't backstab; assassination is only higher because of the execution phase where backstab is used instead of mutilate. The only fight in this tier where assassination has an advantage is on Heroic Maloriak, where you need the sustained AoE assassination brings and can't get by with just using Adrenaline Rush + Fan of Knives spam for 15-20 seconds to kill the adds like you can in normal mode.

Took me about 4 weeks to get this, a few hours a day with about 100-110 boxes an hour. However it think i was just very unlucky. Be patient be diligent you'll get yours eventually. Fractured front is the place to be, Hundreds of Troggs that don't aggro or break you out of stealth unless you are standing on top of the War Constructs or Dwarves. There is also a vendor here so you can clear out your bags.

I apologize if this sounds like a "boasting" post, its not intended. I picked a total of 5 boxes, just for *!@#s and giggles. I was level 78 at the time, so a lvl 83 engineer friend of mine blasted 3 open for me, and I banked the other two. Turned 80 and the second one had this in it! This is the wildest luck I've ever had really, and goes to show how really random it is...

Well I feel very lucky as I got Spinerender 5 days ago while farming mobs in Vashj'ir. I opened no more than 20 Flame-Scarred Junk boxes to get it and was very surprised. Over the next five days I probably farmed another 100-125 and decided to switch to Deepholm.

Well it appears that was a good move as I picked up five boxes before I was about to log off and got Krol Decapitator on the very last box. I've always loved Combat but now I'm torn as to selling it or equipping it as my Rogue is not my main toon and does not raid at the moment. Nice to have that choice I suppose. : )

Don't give up zane, you've got nothing to lose, and at the worst, a little to gain. It's completely and utterly random, based on an insanely low percentage chance. I got one in the fourth box looted; INSANELY good luck, and that is all.

I think I need more posts saying don't give up... I've went through about 900 boxes in the past 2 days and got a few greens and a gem so far.... Trogg area is definately the best place I've tried though. Back to do a few more before I call it quits!

I'm currently at lockbox # 2,563 (I've been keeping an Excel spreadsheet - yes, go ahead, marvel at my nerditude). I've been pickpocketing from the troggs at the Fractured Front in Deepholm for the past few weeks. I like the area because I know it so well now that it's very quick and easy to steam through, and averages between 20-30 boxes each sweep.

So far, I have received:

- 13 x greens
- 6 x blue gems
- No epics of any type

My optimism is cautiously hovering just above rock bottom, but I intend to keep going. Sooner or later, the sword has to drop.... In the meantime, I've made about 5000 gold by auctioning off dropped items & vendoring the greys, so that's not bad at all. :)

Update! I got the Krol Decapitator today on my 3,033rd box. :D

Final tally: 3,033 boxes

- 15 x greens
- 7 x blue gems
- 1 x Krol Decapitator
- Lots of Inscription supplies (I think I've got enough Deathwing scale fragments to make several Deathwings!)
- At least 6000g from vendoring / auction halling (which comes in handy for getting a good enchant on it)

So, hey, it was a horrible grind, but like SylvanElf says, you do get something from farming, so it was well worth it. Zane, I really really hope that you get lucky soon - you've put so much time and effort into it so far, you certainly deserve it.

Good luck to everyone else out there! I am sure others who have the sword now will agree with me when I say that I AM NEVER PICKPOCKETING ANOTHER SILLY TROGG AGAIN! :)

I've been farming for this off and on for about a month overall and have gone through about 1000 boxes. I found the Spinerender after a few days, but no luck here. The amount of gold i get from vendoring trash helps pay my repair bills, but I really want this sword!

Thanks for the tip. Were browsing when I realised both this and the best non-PvP Throwing weapon are dropped from these damned boxes which I am usually selling instead of opening :D (FAIL!)

Here is my story, after cata release i decided to give farming thease a shot. i can confirm from my own experience deepholm is fastest place to pick em up. i farmed for a couple days straight and after about 800 or so lockboxes i got the silly useless 1.8 dagger. it was early enough that it still sold well on my server so that was fine. after seeing something drop it was much easier to convince myself to go back. however 2000+ junkboxes later nothing. i stopped for some time. then a friend reminded me about it yesterday and i said why not while i que for a heroic. 35 junkboxes later i get the thrown in a box. now the drop i was really after is the sword so i figure i got 2 of 3 so sword should be next. finish my random que back up and go farming again, another 20 or so boxes and i get another spinerender =(

the sword has to be the hardest to come by but i will continue farming hoping not to see the dagger again. hope everyone else's luck is better then mine

Got it doing TB dailes..was at the keep, doing "Claiming the Keep." a junkbox dropped while pick pocketing and "Krol Decapitator" dropped, now im using it as a MH sub rogue! and the part that might get everyone mad was i got it on my first junkbox i opened.

*sigh* I give up. Farmed countless boxes and I don't think I'll ever see this thing. Got the Thrown weapon, don't care about the dagger. I can't bring myself to farm these boxes anymore, especially now that I'm done with 5-mans and there's no queue to wait in. Just mindless farming with no end in sight. I give up, I'll just get a Fang of Twilight.

picking boxes for this is simple. change your pick pocket keybinding to your mouse wheel.

scroll-up is the key i use.

tab target, scroll up, and move along to the next target, simple as that.

Yeah! Just got mine today. I grind for around 4hours. I must have been lucky. I almost gave up so i went to wowhead and look at the comments on how rare it is and saw all the motivative comments and decided to continue. Guess what. I got it on my next 15-20 boxes. 'Dats the spirit! :D I picketpocket mobs while questing because I figure its free money/supplies, so its not like I have anything to lose by doing it. If it so happens lightning strikes twice and I get the dagger or the thrown I'll be a lucky duck!

I got mine by pickpocketing a Flame Scarred Junkbox from .

Lucky me, it was like the 30th box or so (was trying to farm Bronze Rivets).

I'll be keeping track of my lock-boxes until i get this (hopefully) or the spine-render. I've probably picked about 500 so far, but only 177 that I've kept track of; So far I've gotten an Inferno Ruby and an Amberjewel. Stay tuned!

p.s: I'm farming the quest "Swift Action" in Vash'jir-- I've farmed Deepholm Troggs, and this is far more efficient. There are literally 1k+ plus mobs, and they are all lined up in a grid pattern, so it's almost impossible to miss loots. To get the quest, you need to faceroll about 50/60 quests, then just stop as soon as you accept Swift Action, and rather than hopping on a seahorse to bomb all the mobs, just swim over and start looting. They will always be there as long as you don't complete the quest.

Decided to goof around in Fractured Front as recommended. Used the macro for PPing. 5 minutes, 6 boxes, Krol Decapitator is mine. I never have luck like this and man, it feels good!

Welcome to Vaedrin's Cata Lockbox farming guide.

Before we begin, I'd like to state how long I've been playing the Rogue Class.

1. I have the Feat of Strength Master Seargent
2. I used to stay in AV to pickpocket trogs to sell Blinding Powder.
3. I still have a set of Theive's Tools and stacks of gray Blinding Powder.

Now on to todays lesson. You need not read further if you have completed the Quest Swift Action in Vashir.

Things we will need include:
Glyph of Pick Pocket (Must have)
Glyph of Pick Lock (helpful but not needed)
Bag Space (frostweave or better)
Guild Page companion pet (quick vendor)

The quest Swift Action is a wonderful quest for Pickers like myself. The quest brings up armies
of Naga into Military Formation that are for the most part easy to pick from. For an Idea of
level range I started picking this area at level 83 but I feel confident that you can pick it
much earlier provided you are careful.

I use a Macro to speed up the process:

#show Pick Pocket
/console targetNearestDistance 8
/targetenemy
/cast Pick Pocket
/cleartarget

The result is a macro that you can use while moving that lets you pick RANDOM pockets that are in the range
of 8. Now if you are sharp you will note that the Glyph of Pick Pocket makes the range 10. Why would I do
that? Because in theory it will pick pockets that are ahead and behind you but in pratice I find that I often
pick pockets that I have already passed. The time between the GCD (global cooldown for you new folk) new target
aqusition and my moving often means that I am out of range of the target by the time I'm ready to use pick pocket.
You can experiment with this but I feel that this works best for me.

Now that the macro is out of the way lets go a bit further shall we? The quest will try to make you mount a
Sea horse to bomb the naga away. Don't talk to the gnome. Instead leave the quest start area and make your
way to the second story of the structure.

I use two methods to pick these guys. Each has pro's and cons. Multi-pass is ground based pick pocketing where
you are doing the old fashioned way. The reason why its called Multi-pass if because if you do it the old-school
way you are going to miss stuff. Sometimes the items we are after (junkboxes for me). So you have to turn around
through the naga ranks and keep goin. Another approach is to swim over their heads and collect that way. It's
more consistent but you run a greater risk of getting your stealth broken. Use what you prefer, I prefer both, if
the naga are in wide formation the stay on ground, if its a tighter group swim overhead but dont miss a box.

1 pass of the entire second story area netted me the following:

37 of those SWEET junkboxes
35 cool breeze (junk)
39 Grilled shark (decent food)
35 Blackheart Grog (rogue only alcholic drink)
19 Scale Spounge (more junk)
4 Snuggy Starfish (even more junk)
9 Rogue's Draught (Great rogue only Health pot)
50g, 68s, 32c

On opening the boxes:

9 wound p
4 deadly p
4 instant p
4 mind p
another rogue draught
1 Silver charm Bracelet (inscription thing)
and my gold changed to:
54g, 82s, 27c
