Part of the 4.2 quest chain; you'll need 1000 of those to make the legendary staff. Also see Heart of Flame.(##RESPBREAK##)12##DELIM##Gnub##DELIM##Koper still dreams about Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian, and as thus he accidentally wrote 60 instead of 25 - which was then changed to 1000.

Is it possible the 25 man route to obtaining the staff will require 25 of these and the 10 man route will require 60?

Blizzard in the past has indicated that 25 man raids should obtain the legendary roughly 2.5 times faster (or 2.5 times as many made) in comparison to 10 man raids.

Most recently however they have indicated that both 25 man and 10 man raids will obtain the legendary at roughly the same pace

Note that 60/25 = ~2.5

Q: How do you plan on normalizing Legendary weapon aquisition rate between 10 man and 25 man raids? If the drop rate is the same for 'shards' in 10 and 25 man raids, this may 'force' 25 man guilds to run 2-3 10 mans in order to maximize shard/legendary aquisition. If the drop rate for 'shards' in 25 man raids was 2.5 times than that in 10 man, it could take a 10 man guild say, 2.5 months to gain a legendary whereas a 25 man guild would take 1 month. - Deathsaint (NA/ANZ)

A: Our main goal is to offer the Legendary in both 10 and 25 without requiring say a 25-player raid to feel like they have to switch to running 10s for the sole purpose of Legendary fragment acquisition (and the same is true for 10s). Our plan is to make Legendary completion take longer to acquire in 10-player raids. The exact ratio will be somewhat obfuscated because of the variation in the amount of fragments dropped per boss based on both raid size and raid difficulty. However, you can plan on it being maybe 2 to 2.5 times faster for the 25-player raid. It should feel analogous to number of Valor points or gold dropped in 25s, and is being treated the same.

Just killed Heroic Shannox 10m.

I got 25 cinders DX
this is gonna take 6-7 lockouts on 10m.

I'll keep track of the cinders I see in our 10 man raid here in case Wowhead continues to not differentiate between difficulties and raid sizes :) Thus this post may be updated between Tuesday and Thursday with new numbers each week. Yay stats.

Week 3 our "staff-getter" was unable to show up one day, hence dashes...
Week 5 our "staff-getter" had some drama and decided not to show up. You guessed it....dashes...
Week 7 the numbers became not accurate to the progress values, which are accurate. How odd... It's possible that "staff-getter 1" went into the alt raid on Week 5 whereupon he net 36 cinders (18 + 18) which evens out the values.
Week 8 "Staff-getter 1" was unable to siphon Essences from Alysrazor and Majordomo. Very interesting...
Week 9 Achievements week, last week of maintaining updates to cinder drop counts. I believe we have successfully established the correct values for the ranges :)

Started collecting cinders in 10man last night.
Normal modes on each boss.

21/22/18/22/19/22 total of 124 Cinders.
Ragnaros still up.

I only got 113 Cinders with Ragnaros still up. (10man/normal for all boss)
So I guess we had bad luck this week :(

Last week was 149, btw. (10man/ normal full clear)
Even considering "Runawaynow" is doing H. Shannox, I think he/her is extremely lucky.

Provided by: Runawaynow's post, Still accurate for 25man? I can confirm the Heroic 10man is still accurate (did 6/7 HM FL last night and got 23-26 per boss, with a total of 148 at the end of the night form the 6 bosses averaging to 24.66~ per boss).
