You do not need to stop moving to collect the Energized Charges, you can keep moving and right click them as you are near.

Am I missing something here? Everything I read (little that I can find) is that you can right-click the orbs as they fall to pick up the charge... this isn't happening.

I either run too far, get no buff, or stay slightly close and get the charge while being blown off of the ledge.

any help would be much appreciated.

Make sure you don't miss the charge that is right next to the guy who starts the quest.

This is part of a quest chain in which the player aids Kalecgos (the new blue dragon aspect) in finding Azuregos and protecting him from the black dragonflight. It spans much of the land of Azshara and is composed of many quests, several of which are completely original in their concepts.

I messed up the quest so when i got to the top i didnt have all the charges. So i jumped down to do it again and i died. So I thought if i abandoned the quest i could get it to start again. But the quest giver doesn't give it again. Does anyone know how i can continue with Watch Your Step again.

I thought the conduits were the falling orbs so i ran to them.

Its not, the conduits are stationary on some of the platform between where you land and where u take off, hope that helps others like me stupid enough not to read and understand the questtext ;)

If anyone is finding this quest tricky and plays zoomed in, I recommend zooming out. I usually play zoomed in quite close, and really struggled with this quest. Then I zoomed out quite far and completed it first try.

Urgh. Just what WoW DOES NOT need. MORE STUPID MINI-GAMES. I don't care if you want stuff like this that is purely OPTIONAL from regular questing. But requiring it in order to complete NORMAL quests is STUPID.

If you happen to fall off at the right location, you can get the achievement 'Going Down'. I believe it was the 4th or 5th jump that knocked me back and earned me the achievement.

Get 6 stacks of energy at the first stop. Keep them at 6. Turn and face the mountain every time you jump.

If you have a flying mount - you can just just keep clicking the Energy Conduits next to Xylem until 6 stacks and just fly up :D

This quest pisses me off so damned much. Even using keyboard moving, it's NOT easy to angle yourself just right to catch the propulsion platforms to keep from being blown off, much goddamned less actually click the stupid energy conduits as you go by. It would be bad e-effing-nough to just have to keep the energy going, without having to avoid the stupid explosions as well.

I totally agree with jtp756. Whoever designed this quest should have those explosions directly under their ass.

if you're doing this at level 60+, then you must just be doing it to gain reputation & not that xp... i might try it Isoba's way before i give up on it though

There is a little cheat in this quest the Energy Conduit next to Image of Archmage Xylem at the beginning of the quest can be clicked on multiple times and you won't get blown off. All you need to do is click the first one six of times and all you need to do is refresh the buff by touching the other ones.

I've tried it at least half a dozen times, if not MORE, and that was doing it Isoba's way! This is an absolutely ridiculous quest, especially to be a key quest in a quest chain.
So, I give up. You have royally pwned me, Blizz. -__- I hope you're happy.

It took me about five tries to finally get the hang of this. First off, do as other posters have suggested and pick up all six charges right off the bat. Keep moving and just right click the other posts as you pass by them. As you come up to the jump pads pause next to or on them, it takes them just a sec to activate. When you land you are facing the right direction so just move as soon as you land. If you can keep your cool you'll get it quickly. Mind if you're doing it for rep and have a flying mount, by all means, just pick up your six charges right on the beginning stand and fly up to the top.

Easy instructions:

1. Click the Energy Conduit that is next to the quest giver until you stack 6 times.

2. Run and don't slow down until you hit a launching circle. When you see another energy conduit, right click it before you reach it. DO NOT SLOW DOWN. Click it while running. (I used my UP arrow with my left hand while using my mouse to right click it)

ok... maybe with updates there is now a glitch with this game? I have tried (as I read in previous posts) clicking on the starting point charger to get six charges....but it won't stack... plus I HAVE made it to the top... but only with one charge... and I DID click on all of them on the way up while trying it the "old school" way... I am lvl 85 so can fly... but the DAMN things won't stack... I think I officially hate this quest... lol If I didn't need it for achievements I could care less... someone pls help!

Twice I missed one of the orbs...tho I clicked on it it evidently didn't take...but I made it to the top anyway. Once there, I couldn't complete the quest...and there was no way to leave the pinnacle alive for a level 15 that I could find other than hearthing out.

Spent 3 hours on this and threw my mouse across the f^!*ing room. -_- ABANDONED. I'm spending time on WoW as anger management/self medication/therapy, and I do not need a supposedly fun game adding to my already stratospheric stress level.

*coughs* That said I followed everyone's advice. EVERYONE's. I saved this entire webpage and dissected every tip to figure out WTF I was doing wrong. I even slapped a haste potion on myself as a last resort. Did. Not. Work.

Surely the most frustrating quest in the entire game! I gave up on it eventually until I read about the appearance changing hat reward at the end of the quest chain (Farewell, Minnow), and decided to go back and have another go. It was entirely as annoying as I remembered it, if not worse! Then I had a brainwave.

These days I have a flying mount. I charged up 6 times at the first energy thingy, then flew to the top, landed, and there was the little yellow question mark to welcome me! :D (It didn't turn yellow until I actually landed.)

Of course if you're doing this quest at flying level, like me, you're probably not doing it for the xp. I'm really sorry this tip is unlikely to help the people who really need it, but hope it comes in handy for someone!

The key I found on this is to keep moving. Click the orb while your moving so the green orbs falling down don't get you and helps with the timing.

I tried to do this quest about 5 times in a row before I said "ef" it and logged off. I came back a few hours later and googled the quest. After reading a few suggestions most people said to just keep moving while doing it. I logged back on and just ran through it like forest gump. I fell the first time but the second time I made it! All I can say is "Run forest, run!"

Just tried the quest again now that I have flying .. clicked 6 times at the start and flew straight up, landed and completed the quest -- I had tried dozens of times when I was low level to no avail. Thanks for the tips.

2. mount and fly to the last teleporter/jumper

The hands-down best advice I read for NON FLYERS was Face toward the mountain before you get the jump. I kept falling off before I did that. Once I reoriented before each jump, it took only one try. Don't give up, just face toward the mountain. Cake!

So many comments about "getting on your flying mount" as if the only people doing this quest are high level going for rep or checking out the rehashed zones. 😒

For those who don't have flying mounts...
If you're wondering how to get back to the start, whether you: were knocked in the water, abandoned the quest, or hearthed back to an inn.
There's a jump pad in the water at the southern tip of the island (coords 55.5 15).
It will jump you up a short distance from .

PS: With reference to all the complaints about the quest.
imho The quest itself isn't that bad. (Hear me out. 🙂)
The problem is the harsh punishment of wasting your time if you fail to do the quest as intended. (Unless of course you can largely bypass these difficulties with a flying mount.)
The quest makes novel use of some existing mechanics to provide a change of pace from the usual: kill/loot/collect/visit style quests.
And once you've properly figured out the mechanics, you'll realise the quest isn't really that difficult.
But until you've figured it out, you can land up wasting a lot of time, leading to understandable frustration.

[This is somewhat simple and somewhat not simple. All the way up there are Energy Conduits. Rather like this one right here one might say! Indeed, I do say.

Now for you. You must use my jump pads to ascend the pinnacle, and you must touch all of the conduits you see along the way. When you get to me at the top, you should be all juicy with energy, because really that's the only way to be.

And be sure to keep moving or you're likely to be sent for quite a trip!]
