Still bugged on 9/7/10.

Malicion is hovering in the air and cannot be damaged since he's stuck in evade.

Twilight Lord Katrana is no where around, must be tied to Malicion somehow....

This is part of a quest chain in which the player aids Kalecgos (the new blue dragon aspect) in finding Azuregos and protecting him from the black dragonflight. It spans much of the land of Azshara and is composed of many quests, several of which are completely original in their concepts.

Just did this with an 80 mage just for kicks. The dragon is currently 83 elite. Took out the orc and soloed the dragon. GG. At level appropriate isn't Kalecgos supposed to show up?
Anyway, love the Metallica reference. Azuregos for Aspect!

For everyone having trouble with the dragon evade bugging, all you have to do is when you engage the orc don't kill her asap. You have to give the dragon a few moments to fly overhead then the event should happen as scripted.

If you find the dragon is evade bugging as melee, just run around in circles while attacking. Shifting both you and the dragon around like this will put you in range every second or so, which is enough to get off attacks. Did it last night as an 80 rogue.

Note that there is a follow-up from this quest called Farewell, Minnow which gives you Faded Wizard Hat that turns you into a goblin! Tremendous!

However, to get the quest from Azuregos you first need to complete the quests from the nearby goblins:

The Reason for showing only shaman and priests is the people uploading the quest to wowhead and nothing to do with the real quest. This is open for all classes.

Found the bug with the Dragon not capturing you:

I was killing Katrana so quickly that the Dragon Malicion didnt have time to fly over.

If you walk up to Katrana, give her a few moments to aggro, attack you and allow for Malicion to fly over to the alter. Kill her then Malicion will take you captive.

It seemed to work on my 80 rogue, when I took my weapons off and didn't 1 shot the orc lady.

Had to kill them both twice to get this done...

did it as a level 80 shaman.

First time i came in and one shotted the orc, had the dragon come at me next. took me a bit of time but my shock and lightning bolt worked just fine, as did magma totem and fire elemental. took a bit of time as i was enh spec and melee did NOT work at all, but killed the dragon eventually.

No npc showed to allow me to finish the quest so i read up here and figured it out.

waited for respawn, walked up and agroed the orc til the dragon flew overhead. Then i one shotted the orc and the dragon picked me up like in the script. another dragon flew in, blew the one holding me away and the quest finisher showed this time...

The name of this quest is actually taking its name from the film making term, fade to black, which is as you can probably guess, when the film ends. Furthermore, the quest chain is setup much like a film, you find someone with a problem, which leads to a bigger problem, which has you proving yourself, finding the weapon/person who can solve everything (in this case a spirit healer-bangin dragon) a dash of funny bone, the slaying of a evil dragon...and fade to black...

I don't think any of the comments have the details of the "evasion bug" completely correct yet. For the script to work correctly, has to be alive so she can aggro and yell, "You've come seeking your death? Happy to oblige." If a high level player starts things off by one-shotting her, she can't do that.

Katrana and aggro together, so you can start the script by aggroing either one. It is probably easier for a medium or high level player to aggro Malicion because he has a much larger aggro radius (hers is probably completely inside his for at least some players) and he will survive a long-range spell if you want to start things that way. (He starts on the ground, so he won't evade at first.) If you start by attacking Katrana, you need to use something like a DOT that won't one-shot her. When Malicion aggros, he starts flying as if to attack you, but the script makes him stop and watch you fighting Katrana. Simultaneously, Katrana yells and attacks you. You can go ahead and kill Katrana once this happens. The script will work properly from then on.

As others have already said, if the script doesn't work, it is still possible to hit Malicion by jumping or getting on a higher surface (the surrounding ground works), but it's easier if the script runs and has kill him for you.

I am a level 19 warlock, and since I cannot 1 shot stuff...basically the above level 80 comments are completely and utterly useless for a quest level this low.

What is useful is all the level 20 posts...ah right, this is wowhead where useful posts for low level quests like this are useless.

Very easy quest for lvl 18+ characters. Nothing complicated. Just run up the big slop, kill some mobs and get to the orc...just beat on the orc until its dead, then the boss dragon will pick you up, kalc then kills the dragon for you, and quest is complete...shouldnt take more than 5 minutes at the most, including killing mobs going to the orc

[Now we put an end to all this madness. We need to rout the black dragonflight from Azshara entirely before they can return with any communication for their master.

I still don't know what they have up their sleeve for capturing us, so I'd like to ask this one last thing of you - go into sable ridge and kill their leaders, Twilight Lord Katrana and Malicion.

If things get hairy, I will come help. I just don't want to risk falling into whatever trap they set for Azuregos.]
