Took forever for me to get this part of the quest. Drop rates are pretty accurate; it'll take a while, unless you're extremely lucky.

Easiest way to get them solo is at Southwind Village... when you kill Tortured Druids and Sentinels, Ashi Drones spawn, and they can drop the Brain as well.

God ive killed a million of these f'ers and the brain just wont drop. Do you have to be grouped or somthing?

you do not need 2 be grouped, any seasoned 60 can do this solo ^^

took 3 of us 20 minutes of solid grinding to get it, 1 rogue 1 druid 1 warr (me). throughout the entire time, only 1 piece of green dropped, no gold, not even white items... not looking forward to getting the other 2... sigh

easy to solo as a lock lead a little away from hive fear kite game over got mine on first try

As a 60 hunter, with a level 57 pet, and no ammo. I soloed this hive...

It's not that difficult. Although yeah, it's a bit of a struggle.

As a skinner, you actually get an ok amount of drops if you skin everything. Even just vendoring the skins I got from hive regal would have netted me 6 or 7 gold.

They're the only mobs I know thought that drop GREY skins... still, they vendor alright.

I spend hours gathering these brains, what a waste of time you get nothing good from the quest except more quests :(

You can get this off the non-elite silithid that spawn in Southwind Village.
