Wow! at level 31 and with my wife at 32 this one was a surprise. Only 3 guys but they summon treants. It seemed like about 4-5 of them. We killed them all, but almost died :P I've heard its easy, but its always if you kill the main guy then run like hell heh.. If you stay and fight, it will be a good battle.

Not very hard if you are able to do enough damage quickly. Mage has probably the easiest work (completed this right now, level 28). Nuke Ordanus, frost nova the guardians, finish Ordanus as fast as you can (Fire blast, Cone of cold...). Grab head -> jump out -> slow fall ;)

Very easy to do as a Warlock. Just SS yourself, run upstairs and res. To kill Ordanus you send in your VW and start nuking. Sacrifice the VW when it's about to die and finish Ordanus off. Take his head and jump out the window :)

I did this at level 27.

Ordanus comes with two adds who spawn multiple treant elemental adds. Either nuke ordanus grab the head and run or bring some friends with you! Power in numbers!

I got owned!! Lvl 28 shaman; solo. I wasn't quite expecting to fight three, let alone 5 with their added treants.
I made the jump off, but the fall finished me off... grrr gravity.

I soloed this with my 27 hunter. All you need to do is killed Ordanus, loot him, then run. Bring a party of 2 because the 2 other guards will come for you.

did it on my lvl 27 druid alt, if u have a little patiance, u can get Ordanus only with only 2 guards, u have to kill him quick! loot and die, if u wanna solo, i dont see how its possible to survive this alone!

Did it solo with lvl 28 ock did not die, nor come close this is how. Cast curse of tongues on Ordanus then ignore him and have your void walker tank the two guards lay your dots and drainlife on the guards spam it cause you will be getting hit with lightning from Ordanus. After a lil bit the guards will go down send VW after ordanus use healthstone if needed and finish him off. If done correctly this quest is very soloable and infact easy. as a lock that is =P Have fun =)

Ps ignore treants till after you down the guards and Ordanus they don't hit hard enough to do any major dmg.

Very easy as a 28 'lock. Just sent in my VoidWalker on him, put all my dots on him then I just Shadow Bolt spammed him. Killed him in 2 or so Shadow Bolts, sacrificed VW, grabbed head and jumped off. Didn't get hurt at all.

Easy as cake! I did this as a lv 25 rogue with a lv 26 mage.

I snuck in and sapped 1 guard (I had improved sap), and then the mage sheeped the other, then we both just whailed on Ordanus like there was no tomorrow. We killed him and I got the loot right before sheep and sap dropped. Sadly, the mage was a bit too slow in jumping over the rail and got nailed by the guards and the 6 summoned treants... but <3 vanish!

Easy as pie as a warrior, level 28. Charged in.. hit intimidating shout so the guards run, hit retaliation and smoked Ordanus. Ran outta the tower afterwards.

Easily soloed it with my 29 mage, throw up mana sheild, frost nova, blizzard, arcane exlosion 5-6 times, cone of cold, mana sheild, evocation, arcane explosion another 4-5 times and that should do it :) enjoy.

Cosmos said this quest was a level 29? What a joke... I'm not going to be able to solo it until like level 34. I can't even get ordanus to half health before I'm overwhelmed by his 2 minions and their 50 tree minions or however many there are. What an annoying quest... I'm a 29 btw, and usually quests my own level are no problem.

Ok, weird... I did this quest, then took his head to the girl and she's giving me a quest listed in Part 1 (The Den)

Anyways, he is in Raynewood Retreat, in that tall treehouse you see from the road, all the way at the top. He has two lvl 27 guards.

I charged him, attacked til I got enough rage for my Intimidating Shout to scare the guards away, finished him, took his head and ran straight out, over the railing and landed on the lower level roof then to the ground :)

What these other guys don't mention is that there are three floors to go thru. Each floor has at least three guards (lvl 26), the second floor also has a blink dragon (lvl 27), before you even get to the third floor and the target. Don't know if this quest has been beefed up recently.

61.50 is the exact location. Get to the big tree you can see on your map in ashenvale, and go to the top. Easy for a level 30 Tauren Druid, cat form to the top of the tree, kill Ordanus, and only him, grab his head, and get out of there asap :)

ok guys here it is.

Zone: Ashenvale

Coords: 61,52

MAP: NW of Splintertree Post. On the road heading to Felwood. On the map it's a huge tree icon, you can't miss it. at the top of this tree (there are a few rooms and a ramp to the top room) is Ordanus. He calls a BUNCH of tree pets to fight with him. Luckily when i got to the top, there was a mage with a pet there waiting. We grouped and killed him easy. It might be hard solo with all of the 'friends' he calls.

Don't you just love it when someone asks 1 simple question, and everyone just ignores it over and over just to brag about how leet they are and soloed this and that? =)

You DO NOT have to fight the pvp guards or go near them at all. Go to the coordinates 63,50 and you will be standing between two stones that marks the short path that leads to the tower that Ordanus is in.

There are a few laughing sisters on the way to the tower that you can take on easy enough one on one enough. However, you will usually fight no less than three guards at one time once in the tower.

I did this solo as a lvl 29 mage, but it was rough indeed.

Make your life easier, take a group if you can.

P.S. Just incase my coordinates are wrong, the path to the tower is off of the road leading to Felwood right next to Raynwood Retreat. The tower is on the left side of the road.

Ordanus doesn't summon treants, his vindicator buddies do. PLUS, they only summon when they are losing health. With that in mind, concentrate all fire on Ordanus, cc his helpers, and get out of there once you've looted the head!

regrowth+rejuvenation before entering his room then catform and prowl, dash toward ordanus and get 3-4 combo points, use rip then go caster form, use stomp and regrowth+rejuvenation, then bear and kill the bastard, loot, jump(had 500hp but died ._.).

I did it as a lvl 28 rogue, with a lvl 28 hunter with pet and a lvl 28 shaman, was pretty easy (done in 1 minute, killed all the mobs from the start of the tower) and got 2350xp

I did this solo as a lvl 31 priest. Basically, I stood outside Ordanus's door, shielded myself, and mind controlled him. This aggros the two helpers to him. I MC'd him off the railing and rode him a bit off then ended MC and jumped off myself after him. The two helpers (and their umpteen minions) have to find me but they must take the long regular route. This gave me time to kill Ordanus. I feared any mobs around me and when he was dead quickly looted him. By this time, the minions will catch up with you and kill you so make sure you kill and loot fast.

Did as a level 27 warrior, with a level 24 mage.

Upon entering his room, there was him, 2 guards, he then summoned 4 other guards, we got totally swarmed and died, but i managed to take one of the origional guards out b4 i died.

When we returned there was just him, and 1 guard, i charged him eady to hit intimidating shout.. but he did not summon his guards that time.. so after that EASY.

Solo 28 Druid.

I prowled in cat-form up to Ordanus then surprise attacked him and ignored everyone else. Killed him but died before I could loot. Ran back, grabbed my body, looted the corpse, and then prowled back down.

In all, a pretty quick quest.

Soloed this as a lvl 26 BE Rogue. Stealthed up, avoided the Protector pats, got to the room and accidentally (but worked well in the end) aggroed the protector standing in the entrance to the room. Backed up to pull the protector away from Ordanus and his buddies...disposed of the Protector and stealthed back up to the entrance.

rezed at the gy, flew to SRR and turned in the quest (2350xp..no rep)

Although I do have better than average weapons (The Black Knightw/ fiery & Wyvern Tailspike) I figured I'd give it a shot, considering he was a druid... and he definately fell just as quick as one.

After several times dying (level 30 hunter) I finally made it up to the top of the winding stairs...I used freeze trap a lot...the bear guards were everywhere. I made it to Ordanus and sent my pet in to attack his guards. I killed Ordanus - and then - POOF. He disappeared. I was furious. He was no where to be found. I jumped out of there but was attacked and killed. As a ghost I made it all the way up again, but fell off the side onto the roof after becoming alive, but another bear guard chased me down and killed me again. I got so frustrated and am waiting until I get some help on this one. The hardest, most infuriating quest yet for me.

I was able to rush him and fear him, therefor he couldn't summon. and my VW took enough hits from the other two, so I was able to kill him, and safely escape as lvl 29 warlock

Bring your group with you on this one. I solo'd this up to the point to kill Ordanus until he spawned a ton of treants. When you get to the top you need to go after Ordanus first and worry about the other mobs later. You'll know what I mean when you get there.

My results:
You gain 2350 experience.

Soloed it as a lvl 27 (troll) hunter , pulled all 3 at once froze one in a trap and just started hitting Ordanus , looted the head , jumped down but had to little health to survive the adds .

Hunter level 27, solo'd it, though it took me four tries. This probably isn't the most time economical way to do it, but it worked for me:

went around the back of the house, on the hills, and picked off two guards on the front porch, then got up on the porch, and killed the two or three guards inside one by one by targetting them, shooting at them and backing up. As soon as they were on the porch, sent my pet after them, and killed them.

Headed up the spiral ramp, targeted one guard and sent my pet after it; once the pet attacked, it summoned the other of course. Once both were attacking my pet, I went and stood by the little dragons, and took my shots, killing those two. I will say this however; there's another spiral walkway going up to where Ordanus is, and if you're unlucky as I was the first time I attempted this, the guard that walks that walkway will be attracted as well - this proved to be too much, and I died. However, this wasn't an issue the next three times.

After killing the two guards at the top of the first spiral walkway, headed out to the second, and killed the guard there. I recommend going up that walkway with a lot of strafing so you see him before he sees you.

At the top of the walkway, stand just a little past where the walkway goes level, so you can tab target Ordanus inside and send your pet after him. This was the most delicate part for me; the first two times, his two personal guards saw me and annihilated me. Once your pet attacking Ordanus, though, his two guards will go after your pet... then just focus all your attacks on Ordanus. Kill him, run in, grab his head, and run out. Jump down off the ledge, and go splat, and that's the end. Just... make sure you grab the head.

I got lucky while killing them ALL...

I was level 29 and almost to level 30, so I was farming exp also. I was about to die when my level 29 hunter's pet killed one of the guards. DING 30! free heal. That helped the last kills a heck of a lot :)

Raynewood is west of splintertree, when u get to the top of the tree just charge Ordanus; kill him as FAST as possible, loot the head and run. don't ask just trust me on this.

well i Mind Controlled Ord as a lv 30 Priest, the guards owned him bad with all their trees (i didnt fight back) then i went in, feared most of them, ran to ords body, figured i couldnt loot him since i idnt kill him, all adds came back, i died

next try:

i was supposed t try, but a NE 34 Druid came after me for about 20min, i feared him, healed, dispeled, hided, was a fun game, then i said it in general chat and a lv 56 lock killed him, never seen the NE after that =P

Next try part2:

this time i teamed with a lv 32 Priest anda 30 Wqarrior, raped them all

kindo hard quest to solo imo, since each guard spawns like 3 trees, need to do some fancy hit and run tacttics or a melee class with potions or something

It's not Ordanus that summons it's his protectors. I Bear Form Charged Ordanus and was able to kill him but died to the adds before I was able to loot head. When I got back his corpse was gone but only the two protectors remained while killing the protectors treants were summoned. Ordanus spawned at the end of the second protector and he was a fairly easy kill solo all he does is nuke and root.

Hi I'm also lvl 29 elemantal shaman and getting to him was pretty easy.

should have tried the bolt of lighting ;) in the end another shaman helped with fianl stage dead easy then.

when i completed the quest all i got was experience can anyone tell me if there was an item that you should recieve, the NCP when a bit odd on me and wouldn't let me complete even though she had taken the head from my items.

Also soloed with a 26 BE rogue. Had Instant Poison on sword and dagger. Stealthed past everybody to Ordie himself. He saw me. Wailed on him with Sinister strike/Evis and also used evasion. Killed him and Vanished. Waited to half health (should have waited more as you will see). Looted and jumped off ledge. Falling damage almost killed me. Aggroed a sister. Died but quest complete.

The guy himself was easy but then I got taken by his mates and the treants they summon. I killed him first go but them I teamed with a level 25 druid and took him down and had one of his buddies run away. I looted after fearing the other and then jumped. Cake walk the second time around. Oh, I got to level 30 before I reached him so I wasn't quite as lucky as Bofor.

Just finished this as a 27 tauren warrior. Killed my way to the top of the tree, buffed before I went into the top room. I didn't have any way to pull them one by one so I just took them all, crowded them in the doorway and used Retaliation, War Stomp, Thunder Clap, and Cleave. Took them out in no time and had to use 1 pot. When I got back down I was ganked by a 34 mage. At least I got the head.

this quest was that diffcult as people says, i am a lvl 29 tauran shaman and i soloed him quite of easy.. but i died when i ran out.. across the plains..

First, i only aimed ordanus and killed him with lighting bolt and 3 earth shocks.. he was pretty easy to kill...but running out is hard when the tress are spawn

But overall.. it was easy.

Solo`d it at level 28 . Killed the sisters that sourrounds the area, killed the 2 protectors at the entrance, then go up one level 5 or 6 were over me, I `buffed` them all and shoot with shadowbolt and then with wand, 1-2 Rain of Fire, Sacrificed my voidwalker and killed them all. Eat/drink. Summoned another voidwalker, went upstairs, fear on one of the protectors, buff Ordanus, voidwalker on Ordanus, shadowbolt, drain life => dead. Quick loot, Sacrificed the voidwalker and run away.

Cost: 2 soul shards.

Got the quest as 29th level rogue, and since I was already buffed from hunting I decided to get it done then and there. Here's how I finished it in a matter of a couple minutes.

Already buffed with the following scrolls from previous hunting.
-Stamina II
-Protection II
-Agility II
-Strength II
-Both blades poisoned with Instant Poison.

Stealthed in, killed the three bear form druids quickly. Headed upstairs.

Stealthed before Ordanus's room, headed to the right inside, sapped the guard, ran up to Ordanus, Sinistered him, kicked him to interrupt his spell casting, Sinistered again till I had all 5 points, Eviscerate, killed him.

Looted his corpse, ran out, clicked Vanish. Out safetly and never lost more than 200 hit points.

Now the tower is surrounded by lvl 40 PVP Sentinal. The problem with this is that if you fight back you on a PvE server, you are tagged for PvP.

Have they changed this quest? I get near the tower and get rushed by a pair of level ? Ashenvale Sentinels outside the entrance, and usually die in seconds. I'm a 26 Orc Hunter.

hehe, a real suicide quest. solo'd as a 28 hunter killed ordanus, loted with allot of mobs smashing me, jump out of the tower and died of the fall!

Stealth up. Careful with the druids in bear form walking up and down the ramps.
Poison blades if not already done. I used Insta and Crippling (Ordanus runs when almost dead).
Ordanus has two guards. Ill call them guard one and guard two.

1. Sap guard one.
2. Cheap shot Ordanus.
3. Sinister Strike til 5 points. Evis and keep wailin on him till he dies.
(Guard one should still be sapped)
4. Start killing guard two as fast as you can. This is where I used evasion since by this point youll be fighting guard two and some of his summoned treants. While you're fighting guard two, guard one will come out of sap(and summon more treants) but you should have enough time to finish killing guard two.
5. Vanish.
6. Wait a few for hp. The summoned mobs will disappear.
7. Kill guard one.

Loot and walk away at your own leisure. :)

Solod as 31 Warrior, charged Ord. As soon as he the posse got involved fear them. Ord dropped before fear wore, then just spammed Cleave when the posse got back, down to about half health.

This is actually pretty easy! The area to get to is Raynewood Retreat its at co-ords (63,50) on the road to Fellwood out of Ashenvale.

Once there proceed to the bottom of the tree watching out for the laughing sisters (level 25 half deer half NE female) the entrance and first floor is guarded by 6 level 25-26 Cenarion protectors (looks like a druid in bear form) fortunately they are spaced out and you can pull them singly! Once done proceed to the second floor which is guarded by 3 protectors who will fall on you all at once! Watch your AOE here as there is a neutral Blink Dragon (little dragon fly thing you see people with as pets occasionally) on the second floor that you don't want added to your fight unnecessarily! Once the 3 are dealt with proceed out on to the ramp and up towards the room at the top killing the final protector patrolling the ramp on the way up.

The final room is pretty basic 3 mobs 2 level 26-27 vindicators (looks like half reindeer half NE male) and the boss a guy called Ordanus. Buff before you go in! Once in completely ignore the vindicators and give Ordanus everything you got he should go down easy as he's not an elite. Loot his head of the corpse and then turn round run out the door, jump off of the ramp and do a peter pan right down to the ground level and keep running! The vindicators summon 5 or 6 extra tree mobs to whoop you good as soon as Ordanus dies but the idea with the peter pan jump to freedom is that by the time they get down stairs your long gone the quest is done and you are very much still alive!

Did this at a Lvl 33 Shaman. Died the first time because of those stupid tree minions. Good thing my corpse was right outside the boss room. My suggestion? Heal yourself, buff as much as you can and try and kill ORDANUS and ORDANUS ONLY. Once he's dead, heal with a potion (if needed) and loot him fast! Then run out if you can and if you die...well, you got the head!

soloed as 27 lock.used voidwalker skipped past to entrance pulled druid-kinda mobs 2 or 3 at once when i got to room sent the void in so he aggroed all nuke ordanus with everything u can when void was about to die sacrifice/loot and run :D

Getting to ordanus is a piece of cake, solo'd lvl 32 hunter. Killing the trees that spawn is difficult even with pet taking all agro and myself firing from range.
Kill Ordanus, loot him fast and run.
Keep running to get far enough from ur pet to call him back alive instead of the poor soul dying for you :P
Loot fast before your pet dies otherwise if you were unlucky enough to have aspect of the cheetah enabled your too stunned by time they come to you and running isn't possiable. <-- Died that way x_x

Quest isn't hard but be prepared to die after looting. Frost trap may help during running away. For none hunters or those without pets to take agro o_o.. neh neh enjoy >:P

I just ran this as a lvl 27 Troll Mage grouped with a lvl 30 Tauren Hunter. We had a really easy time of it; we didn't have to do it 'right', we just put out enough DPS to take 'em all down quickly. But if you're going it alone, like everyone else says, for the love of god go buff up and keep some pots on hand and when you go after Ordanus go after only Ordanus, kill him dead (he's only a lvl29 and he's not elite so he shouldn't be too hard to take down), loot his head and run.

As for the person who mentioned PvP flagged lvl 40s? There *is* a tower like that in Raynewood, it's just not the one that Ordanus is at (my friend and I wiped hardcore to them). I forget the coords of the PvP-40s tower but the coords mentioned below of (63,50) are the correct ones for the tower w/ Ordanus. If you bring your map up, you'll actually see it marked on there.

Only just did it at as level 28 hunter. Used hunters mark on Ordanus and sent in pet and just shot him till he was dead. Pet kept agro of the guards and i ran in and looted the head. Then i jumped out over the railing and ran off. Had to sacrifice the pet but atleast i did the quest.

best thing to do is to kill ordanus quickly, loot him, then haul ass before his summons can beat you down.

He is found at 61,52. You can't miss the location. It is Raynewood and he is at the top. Kill the patrolling bear on the outside ramp leading up to Ordanus. He hangs out in the room for awhile and then patrols. He can be taken out by himself if you wait for him to come out alone. The adds will spawn numerous level 16 treants. They came out on my first attempt but not on my second attempt when I focused only on Ordanus. The best attempt is to place timed heals on yourself if you have them or CC the two adds and stay focused on Ordanus and be quick enough to loot his head before you die. He will entangle you in place making it hard to reach him to loot him. It would be good to have free action potion to prevent entanglement or something to get out of the entanglement. If you decide to jump go to the end of the ramp and jump down on the hill below so you take little damage and there will be no adds. If you die before looting his head you can get there fast enough before he resurrects unlike posted elsewhere but you have to move quick and use Falfarren river as short cut and not the roads as though you were still alive.

My 27 BM Hunter had no trouble pulling and killing everything on the way up (don't loot - the respawns are very fast) and when getting to the top, I just sent my pet at Ordanus, healed him and we killed Ordanus without too much of a problem while the two other Vindicators (or whatever they're called) beat on my pet and ultimately killed him, as I expected from what everyone has written below.

But then it got more interesting. Instead of the two Vindicators beating me to death as I expected, they started but then about a dozen (two dozen? three dozen?) treants suddenly materialized out of nowhere and descended on me like a massive wave of overgrown poison ivy. Twenty-six against one? Really - you need that many plug uglies to whack a poor troll hunter? Ordanus, you are truly a cowardly bully; no plastic medals for you, ya big sissy.

Fortunately I had read the remarks below, immediately popped a healing potion, looted him and got a chance to rez and chat with my old friend the Spirit Healer for ten minutes whole the hilariously misnamed Rez Sickness wore off. Not only did Ordanus involuntarily surrender his head, he dropped a nice piece of green mail armor, so worth doing even if he needs 700 Macedonian Warriors to kill you.

sent in VW to take aggro of all three
dot up Ordanus and spam wand
the moment I know he is dead jump down the tower
resummon VW while waiting for adds to deaggro
walked back in to clap the two and loot head
no hp lost
