All the magenta fungus cap nodes are outside of the Uldaman instance itself, but inside the indoors part that you enter from the Master's Terrace. The caps are usually in corners, behind tents, and most importantly, away from mobs.

The turn-in for each step of the quest is 250 reputation with Ironforge or Orgrimmar, as of patch 2.0.1, and if you're an alchemist, you get an additional quest, "Badlands Reagent Run II," which involves killing scorched guardian dragons in the badlands, upon completion of which you receive the recipe for the Restorative Potion.

These usually spawn by most fires in and outside of the instance.

The mobs in Uldaman do have an extremely small chance to drop these, but it is much easier to harvest the mushrooms that are both inside and outside the instance.

They are big bloody mushrooms out side the intance. Near most fires.

so if ur 60 u walk in and take.

Be aware that looting the mushrooms has a chance to give you a disease. 20 mins, all stats decreased by 10.

On my minimap the mushrooms had the golden dot. The respawn speed is about 15 minutes for each one.

I had to do Badlands Reagent Run before getting this quest. Both from Ghak Healtouch though!

You can find one of the mushrooms at the safespot where Hammertoe Grez is at, this one drops about 3 Magenta Fungus Caps at a time. All I did was go to that spot, stand there while having dinner and check a couple of times if the mushroom had respawn. Completed the quest all during that 15 min!

I just went in the backdoor, took the mushroom spawn there, went out again and resetted. Rince and repeat until you have 12. Beware that you can only reset a set number of times / hour. And that you need to solo 3 elites and that boss golem right inside. Piece of cake as a 60 warrior though.

it took me 2 runs through to find all 12 just look for big mushroom looking things deep in uldaman

You do NOT have to reset the instance for the mushrooms. They repop. If you go in the backdoor, the first set is to the left of the entrance into the maze. The second set of mushrooms is in Dig 2, below the Dwarfs on the wall near the crane. I got all 12 in one run.

This quest appears to be bugged in Classic, the mushrooms outside the instance now have a respawn time of ~20 minutes. Considering there are only 5-6 of them outside (each dropping 1-3 mushrooms), this will take quite a while if you don't go into the instance.

This quest is truly awful. The spawn rate is abhorrent and the quest takes so long to do that not only are you waiting ages for spawns, you're also competing with many others players who are also bottlenecked by this quest.

Skip it.

Just be aware they don't show up on Find Herbs, just have to look out for the large pointy mushrooms in corners of rooms

I've heard about a newly discovered plant called the magenta fungus caps. They grow in clusters, deep in the Uldaman dig site; they may be elsewhere, but for now that's the only place I know they're at. I want to study their potential use in alchemy, and that's where you come in.

Find the magenta cap clusters and bring me a dozen caps. Be warned, the clusters may spew out poison spores if jostled.

Do this for me, and I'll whip up a batch of one of my famous restorative elixirs for you!
