This trinket probably should not be green. The quest to get it becomes available once you have completed the armorsmithing quests in both Stranglethorn Vale and Tanaris. While the armor and resistances are fairly negligible, the fear immunity certainly is not. The message shown to the caster is simply "Immune." In PvP, this is very often mis-interpretted as the result of diminishing returns. Warlocks in many cases will continue attempts to fear you in futility.

Given that warriors already have Berzerker Rage, this trinket alone is probably the reason most any paladin that chooses blacksmithing should go the armorsmithing route. The 10-minute cooldown makes it an unreliable tanking tool alone on mobs that definately will fear many times (such as Magmadar or Onyxia). However, it's great for things like fighting warlocks in one and ones, and when picking up the flag in Warsong Gulch.

In the Burning Crusade, you will be allowed to change your blacksmithing discipline, as well. If you are a blacksmith, or planning to be one--and you have no class or racial anti-fear capabilities--I would consider going armorsmithing, even if just temporarily, in order to get this item.

you don't have to be armorsmith to get that trinket, since the recipes from that vendors require only blacksmithing... i'm master swordsmith, and i got both trinkets, https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=8703 and https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=10418

This trinket is definitly worth keeping for anyone who gets one. At high levels it becomes extramly useful for the 30 second fear immunity.

Yup, this trinket helps a lot in the Nefarion fight especially if you are tanking and your dwarf priest goes down.

Important note: As 2.1 the trinket's cooldown is on 20 minute. (You can't use it in the Arena.)

To get this trinket as Horde, you have to:

Do the The Old Ways quest. This quest starts in Orgrimmar at Aturk the Anvil.
After this quest, Ox (same place) sends you to Booty Bay to meet with McGavan.

Do the The Origins of Smithing from Hank the Hammer in the Dwarven Quarter of Stormwind
After you finished with the quest Hank the Hammer will give you the In Search of Galvan quest which sends you to meet with McGavan

McGavan gives you The Mithril order quest.
You have to go to Galvan, and you'll have to Finish the 3 quest there:

The Art of the Imbue
The Great Silver Deceiver
Smelt On, Smelt Off
After finished these quests, there will be a new one called Galvan's Finest Pupil. Now you have to go to Tanaris, and meet with Trenton Lighthammer.
Finish the quest, then speak again with Trenton. There will be a lot quest, and you have to do all (except Troll Tempers).

The Ornate Mithril Armor quests are separate from the Weaponsmith/Armorsmith quests. I just completed this quest yesterday and I am a weaponsmith.
The Ornate Mithril quest starts with the Mithril Order guy in Dwarven section of Stormwind.
Be prepared for an insane amount of mining or a huge outlay if you buy bars at AH.
Cooldown for insignia effect is 10mins.

Regardless wether you chose Armor or Weapons, it seems both get the same reward.

I'm smith hoarde on Deathwing and I've got one. It's a quest off the smith in Gadget. I believe it only starts after you pick a specialty (armor or weaponsmith). I went armor, but I don't believe it's limited to armorsmiths.

And this does work on more than just lock's fear spell. For example I use this whenever I battle princess in Mauradon. It gives me a giggle to watch party members running off under fear while I just keep hacking away.

Can you use the item while you are feared (and break it) or do you have to time it before being feared...
I am asking because the effects duration is quite short.

Here are the FACTS about the trinket
- It is available from the Mithril Order smith (Trenton) in Tanaris
- The entire line of quests starts from the Mithril Order smith (Ox) in Orgrimmar if you are horde
- It is also available to alliance
- In order for Ox to give you the first in the entire line of quests, you must complete The Old Ways from the nearby NPC
- You do NOT need to have any sort of specializatin, Armor or Weapons
- Before you receive this trinket in the quest series, you will receive a different one that summons a mace

Anything contrary to the above is plain wrong.

For Horde:

1. You get it in Orgrimar
2. You MUST compelte "The Old Ways" which isn't available until lvl 40.
3. My skill was 240+ so I'm not sure on the minimum.
4. The ! will pop up over the mithril order guy's head as soon as you complete "The Old Ways"
5. He will send you to find a guy in STV, east side of the map near the ogres
6. This guy will give you 4 quests:
A) one requiring 40 mithril and 40 iron
B) one requiring 40 mithril and 4 (2?) Citrines
C) one requiring 40 mithril and 5 truesilver bars
D) One to talk to a guy in tanaris
7. There is a forge @ the guy in STV in case you forget to smelt your mithri/iron/truesilver
8. For every mithril-gathering quest you complete for him, you'll get an "Ornate Mithril" recipe. You'll need these for the 2nd half.
9. When you finish the 3 mithril-gathering quests, this guy will take 1-2 mins and make you a trinket. The trinket summons a 36.9 dps 1h mace which lasts 1 hour, cooldown on trinket is 3 hours. So you can use it 1/3 of the time.
9. When the hammer's timer expires, you'll have no weapon in that hand, so be careful.
10. In Tanaris, the guy will give you 3 more quests. Each will require you to make him 3 items, each requiring an item/items from the recipes you got from the first half.
11. Each of "Trenton"'s 3 quests will require 40-ish mithril, as much as 42-44 I believe.
12. When you finish all of these, he will give you a quick "wait for a sec" quest and make you the insignia
13. You will get the insignia as a reward and he will announce it to the whole of Gadgetzan - alliance and horde.
14. Any priests/warlocks in the area who know what this is will cry if they're on the other faction. :P

You will need 5 truesilver, 40 iron, 4 citrines, and 120 mithril to do the first 3 quests. This will get you 3 "Ornate Mithril" recipes and the epic hammer summoning trinket

For the second 3 quests, you will get the insignia and it will take you about 122-126 mithril bars and a ton of other little things like thick leather/mageweave/etc to make the items.

It's a pain in the ass getting all the mithril needed, but the insignia is well worth it!

Obviously the real reason to want this trinket is the 30 second immunity to fear. For PvP and duels this is simply a must-have item.

Pretty good against the new fear-spamming Scourge Invasion mobs, especially for warriors.

just got this after doing that long ass quest line. the hammer was nice but i'm 55 warrior, so yeah it is pretty much useless to me, but with this, i might have a chance to actually beat locks yay!

This is a great trinket for paladins, shamans, and especially warriors.

I have a 29 twink warrior and this would be quite nice to have. If i max out blacksmithing to 225/225 can i get quest or would i have to be a certain level like 40 or whatever? please let me know

The cooldown of this trinket has been increased to 20 minutes in Patch 2.0.10 :(

This trinket is not useable anymore in arena matches (like all spells/items with CD >15 minutes) :(

Blizzard is nerfing its own design.

This item is how paladins can be finally fearless, all this by design = A must have item for Paladin purists.

So many time involved to rise Blacksmithing, 10 min cooldown IS fair, or should the profession be useless?

Blizzard you can still revert it back.

It is a long quest line. FIrst you need to do a blacksmithing quest, for the horde it's The Old Ways.

After that another npc sends you to Boody Bay, and that nps to Galgan in Stranglethorn vale, near to Zul'Gurub. HE has 3 quests that will cost you in total 120 mithril bars, 40 iron bars, 5 truesilver bars and 4 citrines.

After you've done all this, he sends you to Trenton Lighthammer in Gadgetzan. He has another 3 quests for you to do. Either you can buy what you need, or if you make the things yourself, it will require a lot of mithril and truesilver, some mageweave, thick leather, stone and a Heart of Fire.

After doing all that, then he will give you this trinket!

How exactly do u take this item. I mean it saiy its a quest reward but I want to know more about the quest. How much blacksmithing is required to start it and what is required to finish it. I'm a rogue and need to know if it's worth to take blacksmithing as a second profesion so i will be able to kill priests/warlocks.

I am not able to check in game as its the only proffession I dont do. I check with friends in game as to what is needed and this is the total mats list based on allah's listing for trade items.
