If you really love this trinket do not do the quest! You have to give it in, never to get back unless Blizz have finished the quest. I had a macro set up and everything for this little toy and now it's gone :(

So if you're like me, you skipped out of Shade of E's lair before you completed the essence quest. No worries. I was able to stealth back in and activate the font by returning to the instance, sneaking past scads of mobs, and entering the new Shade of E's lair when he's not agro. Then just clicky the font and you get a nifty little poison charm that AOEs everyone around--I think I'll keep it for bear form agro; it's not too shabby.

Did this as a 54 druid with no Feral spec, just plain old cat stealth, and got no agro (was close at points though).

If you can't sneak, well, sorry for you. But you don't need to defeat Eranikus to do it again--just ask your group to clear to him and you should be fine when he's in ghost form.

I keep the trinket and later found this guy in a cave in swamp of sorrows and he asks for the trinket to finish quest. Then he tells you to go speak to a humon in winterspring that speaks to the dead. I thought great, a better trinket or something, went to winterspring, the guy said thanks, got some xp and that was it, lost the trinket and I want it back. As a tank I loved to poison everyone.

if you have not already done this, you get 100% drop. everyone gets to loot it. then you go in the corner, and finish quest for a DOT AOE trinket with 15 min CD (ouch). nice thing is, you get a couple thousand xp from the first kill.

Everyone gets one of these when you kill the Shade of Eranikus dragon in the Sunken Temple (Swamp of Sorrows instance).

We took down this dragon with a 58 Priest, 58 Rogue, 57 Hunter and 60 Mage. Took us 2 tries to do it but nailed this dragon.

Loot this and get the quest off it and then go to the corner of the room to the Essence Font (same room dragon is in). There you will get a nice trinket that summons a green poison cloud.
