OK, the quest appears to be a little bugged, but you can fix it. After completing the quest to get the Ragnaros item, the guy gave me a torch of retribution. I then tried to click on the green thing that he spawned to complete the quest and receive the torch, but he had already given me one. So I deleted the first one he gave me, click on the second torch, and completed the quest that way. Once I completed that quest, he gives another to go and light some towers ablaze. So basically delete the first one he gives you, and talk to him again.

is talk to the squire...he'll give you the quest for the torches....to fan to ablaze the fire that lightning lit, torch the towers. Dark Iron Sentries - Bleh!

but after I have set the torches ablaze, do I need the torch for anything after that? I hate quest items that linger :(

After you turn in the Symbol, grab the floating rod in the green mist. Then talk to him again. He has another quest to talk to his Squire. His squire will instruct you what to do next.

The quest is fixed, did it with my 52 rogue. No problem in obtaining the torch. Although cosmos says this quest is 52 elite, the sentries who guard the braziers are 48 elite and you wont have to fight anyone else than the normal 47-48 mobs (they are in group mostly though). I just sneaked to the braziers and lit them. You dont take aggro when youre at the point the braziers are. It took me like 5 minutes to do this quest and as reward, got 7,6k xp, 2,5g and also 3g for the quest reward axe (which i of course sold). The best part of this whole thing is that u can keep the torch and equip it even if u dont have permission to equip 2h staves; and the torch looks exactly like The Soulkeeper ;)It's cool to hang around IF with yuour fake soulkeeper on your back, everyone looking at you :))))))

They are small pot looking things on the top tier of each of the 4 towers - you get a gear tool and you click on it to light the towers

No need for it after the quest, unless ofcourse your like the rogue above who just wants it to look good =P

Doesn't it lead to a quest (trinkets)? If so, then The schematic in the chest sold for 4.5g, another item disenchanted into greater mystic, and the molt was used in another quest. The other items were minor.

As a warlock that was in a hurry, I killed one or more non-elite guards then seduced the elite at each tower.

After completing the blaze portion of the quest, he does his thing, and there aren't any more ! or ? with these 2 guys, (in lvl 58 and still none).

After the guy reappears, he still offers another torch if I misplace the one I have, so ditch it, if you need another, go get another.

OK.. soo many ppl can't type a complete post its NUTS.

I got this quest after getting the ragnaros item from the elite dudes. Not sure if that is a line of quests..but that is how I noticed it.

So you click on the guy to turn in the symbol of ragnaros. Then he has a new quest. You kinda dilly dally back and forth a bit w/ him and his friend that is right next to him. Eventually he crafts a rod that is floating horizontally in front of him. CLICK on it. (yes if you accidently delete it you can get another) It will look like a GREEN WAND of sorts in your bag.

LOOK ON YOUR MAP and notice there are 4 little building icons around the pit area.. these represent the 4 towers. The bases of the towers have a couple dudes to kill..but there is an elite at the top to kill.. take a friend. run around the platform where the elite was standing and you will notice in the cornor a little circle thing to click on. YOU MUST HAVE THE WAND/STAFF/ROD (whatever it is) EQUIPED, then either you click on the brazier thing or the rod..can't remember which. And that is IT.. do that 4 times and quest is DONE! I was 51 mage w/ a 60 hunter friend.. total cake.. (bit over kill).

This item Definately does have ause after the quest. If you equip this and go to a low lvl area and attack a non-critter you can lvl your unarmed up really fast... Yep it's a novelty more or less, unless you're fighting somethin capable of disarming you...

The Torch looks just like the Soulkeeper exccept for the staff which in the soulkeepers case has a red end to it while the Torch has a green end

You can use this item to boost your unarmed skill. Equip it and attack a Squirrel or other critter. It will be immune to your attacks, but your unarmed skill will increase.

What is the use of this item?

This is one of the few "staff" items that any class can wield. It also emits its own light; a neat effect. Unlike wands, this item is visible when holstered, making the glow a constant effect. While many are saying its safe to delete, I regretted deleting it on my rogue once I realized what I had done.

It is a purely cosmetic item after the quest is complete, but I like to think its a cool one.

Torch of Retribution is excellent for raising your Unarmed Weapon Skills, as the torch’s melee attacks uses the unarmed weapon skills and won’t hurt the target. You can therefore fight the same target for as long as you want and raise your unarmed weapon skills that way. So no need running around finding new targets for raising this particular weapon skill!

The good old trick is to go to the Deeprun Tram in Ironforge and fight the Deeprun Rats as they will not run away when you attack them. They will actually fight back and do a small amount of damage, 1-2 damage pr. hit, so you want to have some kind of +healing if you intend to go AFK when raising your unarmed weapon skills. Otherwise you might actually end up dying to a rat if going AFK for 60 minutes or more! I found that a Mighty Troll's Blood Potion will do the job and provide enough heal over time to save your life ;) Alternatively you could use an item with a health regeneration effect like Shard of the Splithooves or Rune of Duty, just to name a few.

Equipping items with Intellect, getting an Intellect buff from a mage, or an Intellect scroll, will speed up the learning process so grab some of these if you can.

Note 1! Deeprun Rats can only be found in the Ironforge part of Deeprun Tram, so you will not find any Deeprun Rats in the Stormwind part of Deeprun Tram!

Note 2! Your items will actually take a considerable hit to its durability if you do this for an extended period of time! So unless you have some Intellect items equipped to speed up the learning process you should unequip all items with durability, that is, everything except neck, cloak, rings and trinkets.
