Actually, this is the reward from the quest, it's not for the quest. During the quest you use the same item, but once it's over you get this as a reward.

it would have been a pretty good reward before BC because rookery eggs usually affect the party if someone is new to UBRS and doesn't know about the rookery eggs

I'm wondering the same thing myself. Do I need to keep this after I freese the 8 eggs in UBRS? Someone told me that it might have something to do with Onyxia, is this true?

I got some questions regarding the "Eggscilloscope".

Does it only work on those dragon eggs?
Are there any other Eggs besides Dragon eggs in general?
And the main questio, is there any use for it after cumpleting the quest? (Besides freezing those dragon eggs)

I find it usefull for when you know somebody's gonna walk right over them. Since a hatching egg will activate eggs near to itself, this can also stop them from chain spawning; if you see one start to squirm when it's hatching, freeze its nearest neighbor.

It may be obvious, but it should be known that using the Eggscilloscope doesn't aggro the eggs.

Just so others don't run into the same confusion as I did....

I destroyed my Eggscilloscope to save some bag space before I completed Egg Collection. I did this because I saw a chat option with Tinkee Steamboil to retrieve a new one and thought I was safe. But alas, when I tried to get a new one, she "pretended" to give me one. I heard the creation sound, she played an animation, and a sound played like it went into my bag.....nothing.

So I tried a few things and finally got it back.....You must go to Gnomeregan and retrieve a Yellow Punch Card. Just find a White Punch Card off of one of the entrance mobs and use it on the first console outside the instance. When this is in your bag and you talk with Tinkee, she will then give you a new Eggscilloscope. This is completely unclear in any text that she says. Hope this helps out.

In classic at least, you can use it to freeze onyxia's eggs at her layer.
