you get them in gadgetstan but you need to get the q from the mayor in IF first, near the forge.

Just go to Gadgetzan with 265+ Blacksmithing. There's a guy by the Forge with your usual ! . He has a separate quest for each plan, and a different amount of Thorium he demands.

The Imperial set is a better deal for grinding than the Thorium set, as it uses way less thorium, even factoring in the 10 bars per recipe cost.

This quest became active to me when I hit 275 in blacksmithing. To be completely honest and thorough, I was at lvl 265 holding the 275 axesmith plan. I wanted this axe really bad so I bought mats to get my skill up to 275 (cost a &*!@load, too).

So I go to the great forge in Ironforge, no quests available around me (no yellow excalamation marks) and get my skill up to 275. I make my axe, get it up to 276. Now the guy standing kind of out in the middle of things, forget his name but origionally directs you to the weapon/armorsmith when you pick your path, he now has the yellow exclamation mark telling me to speak with the guy in Gadgetzan.

When I went to Gadgetzan he offers a quest for each plan (bracers, helm, chest, leggings etc). From what I remember, it is just a hand in of 10 TO 30 bars. 30 being required for leggings, chest and helm I BELIEVE.

Making Imperial Bracers are GREAT for BS leveling 275 to 295.

And the bracers cost 10 thorium bars for the plans.

anyone tell me what level i need to be to do this quest my smithin level is fine , and i read somewhere that bein friendly with the thorium brotherhood reduces the amount of thorium needed for the imperial set?

It seems that you can't get this plan twice. If you forget blacksmithing for another spec, you'll forget the recipe as well.

is it possible this quest is only available if your blacksmithing skill is above 265 AND you have selected the armorsmithing specialization?
I believe when you're a weaponsmith, you need to use different blacksmithing plans (available from Everlook in Winterspring)
