This line starts inside the barn. Kill your way in there and on the floor you will find Mrs. Dalson's Diary. Right click on it and it hints that Farmer Dalson has the cabinet key on him, and that she locked him up safe somewhere after he died.

Around back from the House and Barn is an Locked Outhouse. Right clicking on it tells you that you need a Dalson's Outhouse Key. This drops from a Wandering Skeleton (54-55). He wanders around the farm. He pathed near the outhouse for me.

After you have the Key, clicking on outhouse spawns Farmer Dalson, a 56 Ghoul (the outhouse hasnt been good to him). Kill him to get Dalson's Cabinet Key.

Now, fight your way into the house. Up on 2nd floor in back room is a locked cabinet. Clicking on it will give you:

Dalson Family Wedding Ring- +13 sta
Farmer Dalson's Shotgun- 25.8 dps gun
2g 50s
7050 exp

I solo'd this as a 56 warrior. While clearing house and barn you will have to be able to deal with pulls of 2 52-54 mobs per pull.

You must finish the quest in the diary before the key will drop for you.

Solo'd this one with my level 52 NE Druid without any problems. You can stealth safely in cat form past the zombies and Scarlet Crusade patrol into the barn and house (for the diary and the cabinet), and the occasional mob duo (52-54) and Farmer Dalson (level 56) can be healed to death with a Druid, as always :) Very nice experience (7500 points) for a level 52 character - I recommend to do this quest as soon as possible.

She seems to walk a path between the outhouse and the diary. As I was getting ready to stealth out of the barn, in she Wandered. Whole thing took all of three minutes from diary to opening the cabinet.

I did this with a lvl 57 rogue (me 54 mage) we killed the scarlet and went into the barn to read the diary, the second i had read it the wandering skeleton came in. The hard part of this quest is getting into the barn past those scarlets. The rest is piece of cake, nice experience and reward

Great little side-story. Less than 10 minutes from start to finish. With the new exp-to-gold conversion, over 6g and two nice items to disenchant. How can you go wrong?

You just need to know the mentality of the Scarlets.

To start with to get in you just need to get past them, they don't enter the barn unless you draw them in, so wait until they are fighting a mob that has wandered to close by and run in, be prepared for several mobs inside, probably 3 or 4. After killing the mobs read the diary.

Now the trick to getting out of there. Unless your lucky and find that the scarlets are busy with another mob or dead run as if your life depended on it, because it does.

My suggesting is to turn left out of the front door and try to sneak past, its possible sometimes, if you can't, make a run for the nearest undead and then make a run towards the path to the east of the barn, hopefully the scarlets will give up fairly easily and re-target the undead getting both them and the undead (which if your lucky wont be the wandering skeleton) you just agro'd off your back.

Once they are gone hang out on the east side of the barn, this is where the skeleton sometimes pops

This was a fun quest... On my first attempt i died after running into the barn cause i pulled all 4 mobs at once.

When i respawned the scarlet patrol was right at the door fighting one of the mobs inside..

i ran in.. pulled the 3 others out and ran away... waited awhile and the scarlet patrol had killed everything inside for me :D

The respawn on the zombies is ridiculous. While this makes for some decent XP, it also can catch you out with low mana and health.

Be aware that I saw respawn times inside the house itself of less than 2 minutes. Could be troublesome if you don't plan for it.

I solo'd this with a 55 Paladin, no issues, except the aforementioned spawn rate. Was caught fighting 4 guys, then 5, as they appeared around me when I was downstairs checking out the map. Rough last bit, but pulled it out.

Pally's own undead, btw. If your a Paladin, and level 50? Get to Plaguelands as fast as you can. The XP and quest runs here are fantastic. Easily take a quest 3-4 levels over your current, due to the undead spells that typically you are unable to use. I did 4 quest in about 1 1/2 hours, each with a reward of over 7000, just to give you an idea. That's obviously not including the kill ratio. Sleep up, get your rest, come in with 1.5 levels of double XP, and you'll get up several levels here, really easy too.

Loot so far has been below average, but that could just me my luck. Quest runs more than make up for that, though. GL, peace.

Doing this chain as a 55 warrior is a pain in the ass. I wouldn't bother starting it as one unless you have very good gear for your level or you're with a friend.

Note: You do not have to unlock the cabinet in the house. You can simple right click it like a quest-giver and complete the quests for the rewards (instantly).

So go ahead brave Paladins! Bubble into the building, get your loot and prepare to say hello to the spirit healer before your short walk across the plaguelands!
