Got it too from a drop .. added it to AH .. never knew that was the 3rd in list at polearms heh and the buyout was 100g but heh .. chances to drop again are big :) just have to KILL THEM ALL :D

Nice dps, but too low damage to make it good for mortal striking. You'd rather want a 3.00 speed polearm with some +str/+sta as a warrior with maybe a bit less dps. Something like the Headspike or Grimlock's charge.

Dropped off that elite mob in the arena in Dire Maul. Sold it for about 50g on the AH. The dps is nice, but the base damage is too low for a warrior (low Mortal Strike damage).

Yeah, its a little slow, the proc is ok, but would have to proc a lot to be worthwhile. Not a bad weapon to hold you over until the Ice Barbed Spear or a reaper. I wouldn't pay more than 15 gold for it, though.

ok just have one question about this weapon.

atm i have stoneraven and i just bought the needler.my question is which of stoneraven and the needler is better for a lvl 55 arms warrior?

i know that the stats on stoneraven is good but the dps is quite low for a lvl 55 warrior.and the needler has 51 dps.

I found this at the AH for 12g. Is it really worth around 100g? If so, I am soon to be the owner of a mount! (I'm level 35)

erm, this polarm is crap besides Ice Barbed spear.
u reather go some rounds and win AV then buy thi EXSPANSIVE THING :)

got mine for 6 g! i was fury and 2h sword spec, at level 55 i got ice barbed spear and it was taking forever to level so i bought this thing and used it to level my pole arm skills! the only thing its good for

Awful wep, found it once and kept puttin in AH for less an less starting at 20g, wasted more money on puttin it in AH, so sold it to vendor for 6g and endin up losing out anyway cause everyone knows the wep is RUBBISH

think the lvl of being useable needs to come down by 10 levels, at lvl 55 , why anyone would wanna use this i dunno.

same on Doomhammer, drops like candy and goes for 10g.
no one wants it, DSP looks good at the irst glance but it has absolutely nothing else.
Anyother weapon at this level is better then that.

stupid me bought it for 18g, now i cant get rid of it. :(

I love Polearms

Am specced to crit with them Arms/Fury

-I have the Needler and used it a lot previously
- I also have the Peacemaker from Strath and used that a lot instead. It is very slow, does the same damage over time, extra +1 to crit, much larger damage range. Hard to build rage in Pvp fast enough though.

- I'm frantically accruing all the +%crit armour I can. Have it at about 24% curently, 26% shortly

I'm still undecided, but I went back to the Needler and am having much more fun in PvP. The high swing rate means that I crit more often in the short life span you have in real pvp/BG combat

I'm going to get rid of the +7 damage enchant (which looks excellent btw) and put +15 agility on.

I find you get a few more hits in with this high speed, especially when the enemy is trying to run circles and keep out of reach.

This is actually a nice weapon for those who haven't started hardcore instance running yet. I used it for awhile and liked the speed.

nothing really fancy with this one, every 2Hweapon in the lategame dungeons is better.
but if ur in dire need of a weapon 55-58/59, then maybe this is what you need.

for more info; it procs quite often, although to seldom to make a diffrence. Crits for about 100dmg, normal hit is often around 50. It can also proc on itself/or twice per hit, but id put my money on that it procs on itself :p

since paladins don't have an instant attack --other than the counterattack ability from the Protection tree -- and our seal procs are tuned for weapon speed, this weapon works fine. in fact the wound can cause a seal of command proc.

some paladins like burst dmg anyway for pvp or just to feel cool pve because they see a big number, but I think the bang for the buck is awesome here.

its unpopularity among warriors keeps the value down; I got mine for only 15G. huzzah!

an impact enchant would add nice dps due to this high speed. Wepon damage+7 would make 7/2,2=3,2 added dps. But anyhow im really wondereing what this looks like so could someone post a pic of it?

Well its nothing too special, the avatar looks much better than the weapon, but still an awesome weapon, just hit 55 and equipped it, can't wait to give it a whirl, though now I need to put away my Tooth of Eranikus for a bit :-(

There's no question about it: this weapon sucks.

However, I find it somewhat interesting that the same exact proc is used by Ripsaw, Vilerend Slicer and Hanzo Sword. The proc rate differs per weapon, though, as The Needler has a very high proc rate (12%, 119 procs out of 1010 hits, 3 PPM) and Hanzo/Vilerend have a fairly low proc rate (2.5-2.6% and a PPM of 1). The proc can also crit.

Most interestingly, the proc functions as a phantom strike, meaning the game essentially considers it another melee swing. This phantom strike mechanic has a few interesting implications, as this means it can proc Seal of Command/Righteousness, Windfury attacks, it can benefit from Judgement of Light/Wisdom and it can proc from procs. Phantom strikes do not trigger other gear procs, such as those of Darkmoon Card: Maelstrom or Red Whelp Gloves.

Seeing as this thing procs 3 times per minute (3 PPM), we can easily calculate that it adds 75*3/60 = 3.75 DPS to the weapon itself (crits not accounted for). Yeah, still very underwhelming, and I personally cannot think of any real reasons to use it.
