The ghostbuster reference is quite amusing... but can anyone really explain this item? Is it a gun that works only on undead? Or just a fluff item for paladins to put in their ranged slot? Part of a quest that must be turned in for something else? If so, what?

Quite puzzled by this; would appreciate some insight.

Spoke to a pally that had it on.

He said it "zaps the citizens of stratholme so you dont have to fight them".

It says use near silo's of Andorhal which is Eastern Plague. I can't figure out how to make it work. Anyone know?

It's still ranged damage, even on players. This gun pings em for around 1-3 damage, and that's a problem for hunters, druids, or casters that previously worked off the assumption that paladins had no skills that worked past 20 yards.

Really shouldn't be allowed use outside Strat... but not the sort of thing that'll ever get changed.

Palies can have 2 other ranged attacks ontop of this gun anyho, ever heard of crystal charge, the un'goro crater power crystal bomb, they can make how ever many of those that they want, and then also in Un'goro Linken's boomerang, if you're complaining about this gun being a ranged attack for palies mamybe you should start from those first?...even tho blizzard dont give a crap anyhoo, there is probly a reason anyone can have either of those items.

mainly what i want to say is "Cry less please"

u can only kill the ghostly citizens inside stratholme instance with that gun.
After completing the quest u can KEEP the gun! so ne need to let this quest undone!

I tried in a raid group, and it didn't seem to "free" any souls.

You cannot work on quests in a raid group. You must be a plain old 5 person party.

They have more than 2... you forget the engineering skill! they can make explosives and mortars

with UUI to tell me exactly when 20% hp is left hammer of wrath destroys with its one second cast ;)
all you paly haters prepare to die. along with my deathray and bombs... and boomerang... and i think il pick up that gun just to annoy the guy "no ranged weapons should mean NO ranged WEAPONS!"

Y is everybody one about pallies? i'm a Shamy, and this gun is cool for the show, literally all shamies have. Its useless but hey, nothing eslse to put in that slot...

Is where you find the Pre-quest that you need to get which is just to talk to egan before you can do this quest and get the gun.

since there are many differnt beam spells with differnt colors, soul drain is purple, life drain is green, ect., it would be cool if each time this item is created for a player the beam color was randomly picked

PS. it needs a flavor text "Dont cross the streams!"

Remember pallies can attack warlock pets now so we make the warlocks think twice about summoning which pet and also make them burn soul stones in AB and WSG as they resummon(Yeah I know imps don't require soul stones but you do have a good chance on killing an imp with a crit on Exorcism or Holy Wrath stripping warlock of blood pact)

so i've completed the quest and i was able to keep the blaster. but i can't see to be able to use it on anything? does it only work in strat?

what's all this talk about pallies getting another ranged attack? you only use it in strat.. so what's the deal... same with that device that shrinks those giants on the coast of feralas or a dozen other quest items..

Has anyone run into a problem where when the gun is equiped, they can no longer use their wands? Obviously you can either hold the gun or wand, but when I re-equip my wand, I cant get it to work. I have tried alot, new wand, turned in the quest, put the gun in the bank, and re-equipped my wand, but no cigar. Is this a bug?

Yes it's for a quest in Stratholme.

Since I'm a Paladin I can't use range, but I have this one in my range slot :) SO it's not empty anymore

Just a word of warning. I was using this for the quest last night in Strat. We got into a bad pull situation and mana was being used up quick. I had this thing equipped and little did I realize that my wand wasn't equipped. I kept on trying to shoot off my wand when I went OOM and wondered why it wasn't firing.

Be sure to equip your wands when you're not needing to free the souls. You might just need it during a tough pull.

Guess that it is for a Quest in Stratholme.

The Restless Souls the gun to shoot the neutral ghosts inside stratholme, then for the quest, shoot the whisp that float around afterwards.
Against what people think, you can keep the gun after you completed the quest. As a priest, I had no interest in a quest item taking my wand-slot, so I turned the quest in... and still had the gun.
As far as I know, the gun still works to shoot the ghosts, which is handy if one of them walks into some AoE of your group.

Got it, used, finished the quest. I still have it sitting in my pack even after finishing the quest. Is it alright to trash since it doesn't look like you use it ever again. Thanks.

If you suddenly have this in your ranged slot, it is an April fools' joke from DejaCharacterStats.
It can be disabled in its option by unchecking Classic Stats.
