Although the potion effect clearly states "increases spell damage", the fact that the potion name includes "arcane" is a little confusing. Can anyone confirm that this potion applies to all spell damage and not just arcane damage?

+35 to damage (which is actually "up to 35 damage") is amazing. For my fire mage, this translates essentially into +4% damage for an hour, not bad of a buff (it'll be more for lower DPS clases or builds, like Frost Mage).

Apparently I'm not the only one in my server who wanted this. Finally came up for sale on the AH, after a vicious 24 hour bidding war, my final bid of 70g was topped (don't know by how much).

Found this in strath in a mithril lockbox, sold it for 200g in under an hour, should have sold it for 300g

This potion rocks..Ive only seen them for sale on AH once in a blue moon. Found the recipe today for 4g buyout! Gotta love that. I figure they will be able to sell for 5-6.5 gold a peice. Considering the cost of the ingredients, and the rarity of the drop.

By the way I believe this pot stacks with Shadow power potion. I havn't tested the actual damage, but I know that both can be used at the same time.

this wont be more effective on frostbolts than fireballs because it says spell damage by up to 35. fireballs get full gain from this +35 dmg to fireballs, but frostbolts get about +30 dmg because it is based on the time of the cast.

all +spell dmg are based on a 3.5sec casting time
it won't give you more dmg if your spell need 3.5sec+ cast time but will decrease the +spell dmg when your spell need lesser than 3.5sec cast time.

Moreover, talents won't affect the "base cast time" in the caculation..

i was told that the best place to solo farm for this recipe is Mazthoril, the elite dragonkin area in Winterspring. I've been trying for a few days now with no luck. If there is an easier way to farm this recipe i would like to know =)

I was winning this recipe in AH for 12g till the last minute where i was outbid and within a minute it was back in AH with a starting bid of 1200g and BO 1600g! What a prat!

Consider me lucky, an alliance was just about to take this chest, but a mob attacked him, I just simply ninjad the chest from him. It contained this baby.

This is a very rare world drop. Your best bet is the auction house, although you'll have a small chance hunting the world raid dragons.

I TBC BETA you can buy this recipe hos trainer, on a sidenote, the same trainer also have an alchemist lab, so no more need to go to scholo or bwl to make flasks :D

btw. the trainer located in Shattrath city, the big neutral city in outland

then after couple of days I found it at AH for 1450g but this time I got the gold and bought it right away

So, I was farming Deadwind Warlocks in Deadwind Pass looking for Formula: Enchant Bracer - Superior Strength. The best thing I could find after 3 hours of farming were some greens and a Thorium Lockbox. I went to Stormwind and asked a Rogue to open de Thorium Lockbox for me waiting for at least for a Traveler's Backpack. I didn't even notice the Recipe: Greater Arcane Elixir that was inside until the Rogue that opened it for me started laughing and screaming like if he won the lottery. I checked again and... Jesus, this recipe was selling for 1200 golds at the AH. Only one. Obviously I am not going to sell it, I am going to create an alter alchemist/herborist and sell these like hot bread and make them for my mage. These are absolutely excelent for casters. The weirdest drop of my life.

I have seen this come out of a Mithril Lockbox, but I am certain the chance is even lower than Thorium Lockbox's 0.08% chance.
Unfortunately for me, I was very new to Classic when this happened in 2019 (I was about 5 in vanilla; both my parents did play however.), and I gave it to the guildie rogue with alchemy that opened it not knowing its rarity, but my warlock main had a guild crafter for a while at least. I could have kept it for my low level alchemist at that time, but I decided to be generous and regretted it as soon as my alchemist alt was able to learn it, which was a month later.
I now search for the recipe in Classic Era since I started fresh there a few months ago. If I ever have it in my possession again, I will learn it on my own alchemist alt, which can already do so.
