ya i was suprised when i saw my health go up by 200. You know pallys could now potentially be main tanks lol. They have these with the deathbone chest plate mixed with some other +def gear and put on seal of fury with quel serrar. Anyway the fact is if you get these with the chestplate you got an insane amount of +def and a set bonus of +3 def.

maybe this is good for paladin that is off-tanking but why Blizz cant make this good tank set for warrior x(

Well, I was really surprised with this "new" armor set, have 4items, except this leggigs... and now have total 385def, almost +30mana per 5sec regen and with BOW about +60!mana/5sec. Just grind this leggings and will be fully happy :). Pally/60.

this set was made for pally / warrior. This is just great tho... i spend 200 or whatever gold on the enchanted thorium, and now these free deathbone leggings are better ahhh.

I have a level 60 troll warrior, and a level 55 dwarf paladin. I'd like to comment on a simple fact concerning rage vs mana for tanking. Having too much +defense (ye, it's possible) can really ^&*! up your rageincome, and thus aggrobuilding, making it impossible to aggro if you're group doesn't go by the "wait for sunders" rule. A good enough example would be King Gordok. Last time I tanked him, I was lucky enough to parry, parry, dodge, parry, dodge his first 5 attacks, which lead to me getting no rage -> no sunders -> 2x dead rogue -> lack of dps -> wipe.

Now a proper paladin on the other hand, don't have to depend on taking damage to hold aggro, which imo is a good thing.

Still. Warriors are better tanks, but paladins can MT very good, especially if there are undead/demons involved. Have also seen Kazzak and Ysondre tanked by paladins.

So ye, it's possible. I'm going for this set, and I'm gonna tank with it.

U can use overpower after the target dodges,not u ..and about the pants,they are for warriors. Its very hard to get decent tanking gear like this,and now pallys say its theirs..i wonder how manny pallys have protection talents and are tanks,maybe 5-10% while most warriors at lvl 60 are tanks..I spend hours and hours to collect good tanking gear and would go to scholo just to get this,while a pally would take it just coz of mana reg. and he would maybe use use it once every 100 years...

Horde warriors are lucky ..

There are great for warriors.

These are great for pallies.

I play a warrior. I would want this set because short of purples it's the best tanking set in the game.

But if there was a pally in the group, I would let him need over me. However, that's just me. This isn't pally only gear, not at all - Blizz would have added Classes: Paladin if it were - but it isn't, because it can (and should) be used by BOTH. "But it's got mana regen, whine, whine, whine". Because there are NO INT STAT BONUSES. If there weren't a regen tick on these, I'm sorry, pallies wouldn't even get a look in over prot warriors, and rightly so. The mana regen is there BECAUSE THIS CAN BE USED BY EITHER CLASS. The mana tick is *not* a "subtle clue" that this is a pally exclusive set. It means they can use it TOO.

As for pallies vs. warrior tanking... *sigh* it's an old and tired debate. Blizz are working on making pallies better at it, which is as it should be IMO. But *until* pallies get the equivalent of a Taunt or a Sunder or a Demo Shout that DOESN'T cost mana (rage is perpetual, see) even a non-prot specced warrior will gain and hold aggro better than any ret. specced pally. And that's the definition of "tanking" - it's not just about wearing plate and soaking up damage.

This is the truth. Deal with it .. or don't. But slagging other classes, when you don't understand the nuances of each (and yes, I have a 60 pally alt too), just reveals your own ignorance.

There is a big talk going on about tankadins and their relation to warriors...

Many of the warriors claim they should roll on Deathbone too because of the +defence and that if Blizz wanted it to be pally loot it would be class specific... Well think of this: Valor isn't class specific but a pally that rolls on it is considered a ninja. Right? So why a warrior to be given a roll on smt it involves mana? After all a pally can use ALL bonuses on Valor!

Prot pallys CAN TANK and get over it! I have done millions of Scholo/Strat runs being MT and seeing warriors cry that cant get aggro after 5 sunders... Then again, tankadins can't tank at high level instances right? Rifgt to a certain point. There are some occassions that they can, and much much better than warriors... My example is the tigers of Ariokk at ZG... Just use Improved LoH (Way more armor than warrior) Retri aura a shield with thorium spike and holy shield and voila! No that hard, much better than most warriors... Pallys can't tank as well when they need to hold aggro thats a fact... UBRS MT Pally is a myth... Being a lvl 60 protection pally I fully understand this... But we can offtank! A warrior tanks the target that needs to be killed so that cloths dont get hit. The second target is being tanked by a tankadin. Noone else touches it-no prob.

What is needed now is to stop the talk once and for all... Warriors must be given some better dps stuff... Pallys MUST be given an epic Deathbone equivalent cause in my honest opinion and after patch 1.11 warriors have right. Just see our new pally set... Isn't that heal bot set or not? GIVE US THE GEAR TO USE OUR TALENTS! HOLY ISNT THE ONLY TALENT TREE FOR PALLIES AND WARRIORS DONT HAVE TO TANK ONLY! Give us alternatives ffs its a role playing game it should involve some decision-making on the character... I want to think of pallys as knights in shining armors and shields in the middle of battle provide me with the tankadin set to fill that role... And PLEASE make Valor class specific, LF and Deathbone class specific to end all this discussion. Its silly..

i am a lvl 60 protection warrior and i am MT for my guild and i am using the valor leggings at the moment and i want to get rid of them, the deathbone are much better they have great def and stam but....i also realize that they have mana regen and that they are good for a paladin as well and i have no problem with a pally rolling against me but dont expect me to pass on a great tanking item just because they have some mana regen on them...just my oppinion

how are u gonna expect warriors not to roll on this set.the belt is the best pre mc tanking belt,and the legs are only beat by the legplates of vigilance.Pally's better bring their loaded dice because every warrior tank is gonna roll for this.

I was in Scholo last night(60 Prot Spec Warrior) and the Deathbone Gauntlets dropped, I was only plate wearer in group so it was no issue. To be honest, because of this being such good tanking gear, and obviously designed with Warriors and pallys in mind, I just don't run Scholo with a Pally in the group.......that way there is no debate. Secondly I have ran it with a pally in a full guild run, and the concensus was that both of us should need roll.......it is obvious that it is designed for both, the mana regen is suited for pallys and the Defense is suited for Warriors. IMHO pallys don't need the defense anymore than warriors need the mana regen. As an off-tank roll and with very few abilities to gain and maintain aggro, the Pally does not benefit from an increased defense half as much as a main tank, prot spec warrior. Basically, if there were a Pally and a Prot spec warrior, I see no issues with both need rolling for this set, if I were an arms/fury build, I would pass on this with a pally in the group.

On my paladin I would pass these to a warrior.
On my warrior I would take these over a paladin.

Why you ask?

Legplates of the eternal guardian, Yes great, +15 defense, No stamina however, For these i sacrifice +2 defense for a fair whack of stamina, Stamina keeps tanks alive, Stamina & +def = good tank item.

I made the fatal mistake of making a protection spec paladin before i made my warrior, Trust me, If a paladin could hold/take aggro/tank as good as a warrior, What would be the point of a warrior? You can just get a tank with self buffs, Okay off tanking maybe, But leave the tanking to the experts.

My pally heals tons if lets say the priest dies from lousing tanking...Deathbone is great for mana regen cause when i heal im always using tons of mana...I think this set was made good for Prot warriors and just as good for pallys that heal lots...

I just got these last night, and they're great. I always ask the paladin (if there is one) if I can roll need before I do, and they always pass. So I guess pallies aren't as in need of these as it might seem - believe me, if the pally had needed them, I would have stepped back and let him have them, as they are great pally legs as well as great warrior legs.

Guess I've just had good luck in that regard...

... that in almost any gear a Pally can use there are other classes saying they deserve it more. Paladins are one of the most useful classes in the game, deal with it

This is probably a very stupid question, but I havnt seen anything about it in any other posts.

Horde doesnt have pallys, so this stuff is fair game for warriors...until the expansion comes out.

But I have searched high and low for these things. running scholo many many times. But I never see any piece to this set drop. So Im just wondering weather or not these things drop for Horde...

Mana regen is the greatest tanking warrior stat in the game. Yup. No sarcasm there.

Ok, I have a 60 paladin who tanks.

The problems I have encountered are that since we have no taunt obviously the only way to get aggro back is to generate threat above whoever took it from you. This is possible but only if your group is smart enough to stop dps'ing when they pull aggro.

Silence is a killer, you can't tank if you can't cast holy damage on the mob/boss, in addition if a mob/boss immunes itself to spell damage for any period of time the effect is the same.

Protection stance grants the warrior an automatic 10% damaage mitigation bonus. I admit there is no way to get around this fact that will forever make Warriors a better tank.

Longer fights, unless players back off on dps while the pally regens his mana with SoW/JoW combo, which in turn means the healers run out of mana, then the paladin can no longer cast his threat generating holy spells

Advantages of being a Tankadin vs. a warrior, include.

Aura's: Granted if a paladin were partied with the warrior they would recieve the same benifit's but assuming you only want/need one tank, they can switch between more def(devotion), more treat(retribution), being able to heal while simutaneous tanking(with talents, and assuming the mob/boss doesn't kick or bash to interupt your casting)(concentration), or become more resistant to one of 3 possible spell damage types.

Consecration: the ulimate multi-mob tanking spell, somewhat expensive in mana costs but lay a couple of these down and mages/warlocks can aoe to thier hearts content and wont pull aggro. Not to mention a healer will never pull aggro from mobs you haven't melee'd yet.

Holy Shock: Yes my current tanking build is a shockadin. I don't like it but it's the best way to generate aggro, I'd rather be a less effective main tank than a more effective off tank. I'm just stubborn that way. Plus I can heal better by having 31 points in holy. Getting to the point.., I cast divine favor and throw down a holy shock and wham thats an assload of hate I just created on me. Better yet first judge them with crusader, thats even more holy damage. Unless the warrior charges which in many cases isn't possible. You always have to wait for the warrior to build up a few sunders before dps'ing.

I could rant more but I'm tired and need sleep.

there, this gear is for pallys. any noob of a warr who thinks this is a War item, ask yourself why would there by mana on it? Simple its not for you. And dont go thinking I dont know what Im talking about,. Hav 60 Priest Hunter Rogue Warr and Pally. All have been in MC and know there jobs. this is a nice item for a prot pally, and even if he doesnt tank thats some of the best mana per tick blues you can get.

But why oh why is the droprate so low, i have never seen any Deathbone pieces yet but i would love to have the legs. Im a warrior btw and currently i use either or when i tank, these leggings however would be such a nice upgrade.

without doubt a pally item now that it has the mana regen.
would be perfect if it had +int stat aswell, but they're probably one of the best non tier set you can get.

well... they took off +spirit and added mana regen. but the stam and def make these great tanking gear too.
so if you're in a group with a warr who's tanking, and his legs don't have +def, and he rolls and wins... don't get pissed. :)
i'll be rolling on all the deathbone pieces to fill slots where i have no +def, or none on the immediate horizon...

Excellent legs - for warriors or pallies.

I'm a warrior, and I've seen three of the Deathbone pieces (belt, chest, and legs) drop. Every time I ask the paladin if he or she wants or needs them before I roll, and they've always passed. Of course, if the pally needs the piece, I would have no hesitation in stepping back and letting him roll, as these are great pally pieces. I've just found that pallies seem to pass on these - dunno why (but they could roll need if they wanted to, so their loss is my gain).
