As a lvl 56 rogue I solo'd 2 lvl 60's one after another with this set. When the 30 energy procs it seems to proc often, a lot like adrenaline rush, very usefull.

If you read the patch notes (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/patchnotes.html) for the change to the set bonuses for Stormshroud, you would have realized that this is both a rogue and druid set, as Blizzard says "It should be more compelling for both rogues and druids now."

So basically if you get this set, you trade off some +agility items for some +crit items. The trade off for me is that going from other stuff to Stormshroud, you lose attack power. Personally I lose about 5.5 dps from attack power (that's about 80 attack power). That sounds like a lot but I gain 3.5% to crit. I think the % crit would pay off in the end, especially as a combat rogue, with Lethality (which raises the damage from my crits). Plus I think the lightning damage from the set helps offset the loss in dps a little. And the energy boost should help a ton. I have Relentless Strikes as well and that pays off pretty frequently, especially when coupled with the extra bonus points from Ruthlessness.

I also actually lose a little % chance to dodge, but it's well under .5% so I don't mind that too much. You can pay for some agi bonus enchants to help offset that a bit I think. And I lose 100 armor or so which is a lot for a rogue, but hopefully you'll be killing them fast enough it won't matter. Anyway, those are my thoughts.

Yeah I made this set for my self and the only draw back is the lightning proc. If you start with this set and add shadowcraft pieces in the open slots(feet, waist) then it is a good starter set for a rogue. Farming the mats is a difficult so I just bought them. Cost about 150g.

If you look at the agility description at the rogue stats list, you see that agility not only increases crit chance, but it also increases attack power, dodge chance, and armor as well. with your stormshroud gear, you are getting 20 agility, kind of. that "20 agility" only counts for crit and dodge, however. with normal agility, you get crit, dodge, attack power, and armor increases, but they come in lesser quantities. So, Stormshroud is a nice set, but you cant say its the best set because you have to sacrifice attack power and armor bonuses just to get your crit and dodge increases.

One thing that is interesting to note is how the critical strike rating works in game. I noticed someone saying that agil bonus was in fact better than +crit%. From a purely dmg perspective on a normal strike this it true but when u are speaking about crit rating it is not. Blizzard have gone to great lengths to work this all out. if u have no +crit% items equiped ur crit chance is worked out according to agil VERSUS LVL 60's (or ur current lvl). so u have an 19.62% chance to crit versus lvl 60. if however u are facing higher lvl mobs this is lowered, sometimes dramatically. +crit% bonus, however, is across the board, be it lvl 1 or lvl 100. I'll leave it to u to work out the ramafications of this.

I would say that the best "bought" set is devilsaur with a hint of Stormshroud. For those who dont buy new stuff at every lvl throughout the game, it is easy to save up for this and works great for pvp.... round if off with Shadowcraft bracers, hood, belt and boots and I would say it is better than a full set of SC... just looks funny because devilsaur looks lame.

Forget this and SC, this is the best rogue pre-MC set:
SC cap (only good SC)/Felhide Cap for MC
Wyrmtongue Shoulders/Flamescarred for MC
Cadaverous Armour/Nightbrace for MC
Bracers of the Eclipse (+9 stam)
Devilsaur gloves (+7 agil)
Devilsaur legs
Mugger's belt for dagger rogues/Serpentine Sash for SS rogues
Pads of the Dread Wolf (+7 agil
Painweaver
Blackstone Ring (imo better than tarnished elven)
Blackhand's Breadth
Royal Seal of Elthe'drathas (can't remember the name)
Cape of the Black Baron

Using this, you will get 20% crit, 737 AP and 3.5K hits, and +5% to hit (the max bonus you can have to hit) which is better than what SC will get you. You can of course upgrade AP further with an offhand bonescraper and a Riphook for a bow.
This will also get you 53 FR if you take the FR gear along with a Drakki necklace, without sacrificing many other stats. This can be brought up to 78 with a libram of resilience and an AD enchant on the shoulders, and 86 if you use a ward of elements (even better 96 with the engineering trinket). Obviously if you need to do Rag or something you can totally sacrifice dmg stats and get flamescarred girldle etc. But for the rest of the time, don't bother, focus on stamina. Obviosuly there are then librams of constitution, not to mention +100hp to chest the list goes on...

Just thought id add. 29 Agi = 1% Chance to crit.
Agi on rogues an hunters equals 50% of attack power.
IE: Every point of agility is 1 point of attack power.
IE: Every point of str is equivilent to 1 point of attack power.
All other classes however gain 2 attack power per 1 point of str.
Thats about it. Opinion: Nothing bad about this set at all. Nothing great either. Its all in preference.

I have the pants and chest of this set and the first set bonus proc does not work with these parts, i have recap and have manually checked my logs; it just isnt happening.

anyone else have this problem?

Hey guys this is a really good set for both rogues and druids. I have a 54 druid on bloodscalp with all stormshroud gear and devilsaur gauntlets...im a tank. I can take out a 57 hunter with i think is pretty good.

Well Anyways I can make full set of stormshroud as well as molten helm, lava belt full volcanic set and the living stuff if u r ever on bloodscalp send me a tell ill eb happy to make u some stuff!

Buy it u no u wanna! It will make u a tank...

Well, I just crunched the numbers as far as if it was worth it to go through the hassle of making this set and I have to say I really don't think that it is. Compared to my high lvl monkey chest, legs and shoulders, here are the positive and negative of having this set (taking into account the ac, crit, dodge and attack bonus of Agi, and the hp of sta). Having this set will gain you 3% to crit and 1/2% to dodge. It will also lose you 85 ac, 320 hp and 50 attack. At least this is how the numbers work out for me at lvl 58. So the only real gain is one out of every 33 hits that normally would not have critted now will be a crit. If that particular hit is not a full combo eviscerate then the difference it will make is negligible to say the least. Not worth the hassle of farming/buying the patterns and farming/buying the items imo. You may feel differently however. Oh, and yes there is the set bonus...1/20 hits will proc 15-25 lightning dmg. Whoopie.

personnaly i favour attack power, with talents you can make sure all your big nasty moves have a good chance of critting when they need to, this gear completley removes any attack power boosts to the legs, chest and shoulders

may just be me, i like my damage big, you crit enough as it is, crits are better when half their health goes with it

I have all the patterns to make this armor and my rogue wears the armor all the time. Yes the set bonus sucks, but after installing damage meters and being able to see what goes on during and after fights is very interesting. I pass on Shadowcraft to keep this set and will always use it for PvP and PvE. On average my critting is over 33% during solo and instance runs, even including PvP. My damage total output is right under our combt/assntn rogue in the guild as I am sub/assntn, but I do think it has its limitations. I say if you are going BS/AB style rogue then yes, its a great set if you have the right weapons and complimentary armor as well (ie.....3 pieces of shadowcraft for a +2 daggers). If you are wielding swords or maces, then full shadowcraft is a more viable option. I just did not want to look like every other rogue out there too.

Yeah, I agree with Opyus. A good collection of armor that gives +12 to agi on each will outdo this armor set.

Being that I'm a PvP Server rogue.

I would take this set over a fullset of Shadowcraft anyday.

85ac isn't crap, whoopty do. The additional 3% chance to crit usually means that in any given fight, you're more then likely going to crit 1 extra time per fight.

And as a bs/ambush rogue, thats usually a 800-1000 dmg hit coming from BS because if you're doing it right, you'll be BS the person or mob more then anything else so yes, Stormshroud > Shadowcraft when it comes to PvP.

Assuming that the normal number for 1% crit for Rogues is correct (I read that it is 24 Agi / 1%), then the best Agi gear i ever saw in AH is Pridelord gears.

+23 Agi from the chest, +23 Agi from the legging.

This total to around 1.8%-2% crit , 3-4% dodge , 48 AC.

A stormshroud armor and leg should be the reverse of that , with 4% crit and 2% dodge, minus 48AC (i'm not sure as of the ratio between AC and dmg, but it would be around +2-3 dmg for 48 AC).

It's a trade off. I'll just have to see my combat log and see which one gives better DPS over long run.

I think it depends. Rogues are not meant to be tanks so to me its no use trying to get the high numbers for armor on a rogue. The best armor even the epic cant stand against a warrior or a pally toe to toe, even if the worrior is wearing uncommon sets. Rogues are meant to deal as much damage as possible, since we have the highest dps. This means that we need high crit to deal out a good amount of damage. In end game when you're in high lvl raid instances, people look for rogues to deal massive damage not for anything else. This set sounds good because to me i care more about dealing damage. the crit % sounds nice.

I have aquired much better armor that is only Green. True the set bonuses make up for some, but getting gear with tons of Agi, Str & Stam is going to pay much bigger dividends, as these stats contribute in the case of Agi to Atk, Dmg, Dodge, ect. I picked up leatherworking for this, and the mats to create it are outrageous for this JUNK set. It's much easier to power to 58, and start running Strat & Scholo, plus Shadowcraft drops bracers and belt like they're linen cloth. I'm trying to figure out why such a Rogue specific set has no Agi? It doesn't make any sense. They got it right with Tiered armor, but Proffession Gear is always sub par, except for Alchemy & Engineering, those are just extra perks.

This chest is very good, it has +2% crit chance (about 50agi huh?), if you put +100hp (10sta) then this chest is so good. (got it myself :)

In patch 1.10 they are adding Stormshroud Gloves, bringing the whole set to a minimum of 400g.
Armor: 120g AH price(lowest)
Shoulders: 110g AH price (lowest)
Pants:100g AH price(lowest)

So when i make whole set and try to sell for 270-300g, it usually sells, so
+ Gloves: around...110g AH price(lowest)?

Me makin 400g with only 12 or so hours of farming(alone, i can do it in 3 if i get help)

Anyone on Dunemaul want this set send a mail to Zenobius, its a good set for rogues and druids.
I agree that Shadowcraft is tough to get, theres always tons of rogues wanting to get in on any instance with SC in it. I cant run a proper Strath without atleast 4 rogues msging me if i PUG it. Anyway, i can make this set, send mail and well set somethin up. :D Lata

omg, this is the crappiest set in the game. no good in anything.. and i dont understand why would anyone bother spend materials for this.

I'm a level 52 rogue and thinking about completing this set. I tend to compare these to other armor set or non-set. For the chest piece I was thinking how to compare the stats to another chest piece coz its 2% crit and 1% dodge. Experimented with my armor, took about a total of 20 agi out to compute the difference in crit/dodge. Turns out in my computation is that for the same agi added, crit and dodge calculations are different.

23.54% dodge + 20 agi = 25.21% dodge
*1.67% dodge gain
So that's about 0.0835% dodge per 1 agi

8.78% crit + 20 agi = 9.61% crit
*0.083% crit gain
So that's about 0.0415% crit per 1 agi

Not sure if my calculations are correct coz other factors may be involved or if there's really a formula for crit/dodge % from a web site somewhere but this is the computations that I got.

Now for those you want to compare Stormshroud Armor with other chest pieces, 2% crit and 1% dodge is equal to seemingly 48.19 agi and 11.98 agi respectively. Note that agi equivalent for crit and dodge are different because based on my computations crit and dodge % gained from adding agi is different.

Hmmm... at the moment the lightning proc seems to be broken. Who knows when it'll be fixed. If that's one of your determining factors in going for this set, then please reconsider. It's too late for me. :(

Last night Cadaverous Armor dropped for me on my 1st scholo run last night. Also SC boots dropped from rattelgore too (lucky me - no other rogues or others to roll against me).

So... the dilema:
I now have Shadowcraft Boots, Bracers, Gloves & Belt (4/8 set: nice +200armor and +40 attack bonus).

I also have Stormshroud Pants. That leaves me with Cadaverous chest and Dark Warder's Pauldrons.

I've already bought the mats to have some1 make me the Stormshroud Chest and Spaulders (did this before I went to Scholo!) - so I think I definately replace Dark Warder's Spaulders...?yes?

but what about Cadaverous chest? I could still re-sell mats for the stormshroud armor and save lots of cash - but then I wouldn't get the 2% chance on Melee to restore 30 energy.... Advice? (nor the 2% crit and 1% dodge obviously)

people are forgetting to mention that you only need to be lvl 50-54 to equip this entire set, giving rogues something good to wear untill they can invest the rest of their life into getting shadowcraft. others might say its not a good investment, being this close to 60, but they don't realize that rogues are most overplayed class, getting shadowcraft isn't as easy as getting magisters, devout, or dreadmist. and when you do get it, you pretty much still need entire set before stormshroud set is worth dropping. if i had stormshroud, and got shadowcraft legs/shoulders/chest, i'd wait till i had several more before dropping that energy bonus.

people who use the mark of chosen or guard talis should know how often a 2% chance procs, especially since we duel wield, meaning 4%. and im constantly using slice & dice in groups, giving +30% attack speed.

druids might get decent use out of this too, if you pvp alot or are on pvp server, and specced for feral. if you arent feral specced, or don't use cat form constantly, i wouldn't recommend the investment. you already won't get use of this in groups/raids, where you are always healer. i have druid, and if i still played her, i wouldn't buy this set for her. but i am going to get it for my rogue.

can someone plz help me with a delema?
I own full stormshroud and am close to the lvl of begining to wear it. I can sell it back for about 500g and then just get shadowcraft set from instances. i belive storm looks better and i alrdy have so i dont need to do any work for it, but i can get my 500g back and potentialy get shadow for free...
if i cant realistickly get shadow for free or you have any advise can u plz post a msg helping me?

I use this set. It's very easy to get, and it procs pretty much. Didn't wanna waste hours on shadowcraft, but shadowcraft does compliment it.
