Spawn time on the shrooms is about 10 min. You don't get many per visit, so be prepared to make a couple trips.

Moonkin dont drop it. You have to go to the caves, clear them out (only 1 or 2 moonkin) and you'll see a patch of speckles mushrooms. Put your cursor over it and it'll be openable. open it and find your fungus. no herbalism needed.

Is there any other way you can obtain this itme other than the moonkin?

I ended up with an extra. You can safely drop it once you turn in the quest.

The shrooms are in the little caves with Moonkin in Darkshore (the Moonkin do NOT drop them) except when they aren't, because sometimes there won't be a mushroom. And half the time you will click to open/loot a mushroom and get 1. Out of 12. So FYI.

They're called "Lunar Fungal Bloom" and are sometimes in the mouth of the cave rather than the back. They are small and have a reddish tint with clear white spots - they don't look like the larger yellowish mushrooms in these caves.

Some cave coords are:
43.1, 50.2
45.1, 53.5
43.0, 49.3

45.4, 50.2 (unsure if they spawn in this one - think it's for a dif quest)

Easy quest, you need to run to the same area where you summoned the Moonkin for your Bear quest.

Even without any coordinates, simply look at the minimap or run around the area (not far) you should find multiple cave formations.

If no one farming these with you, there shouldn't be any waiting downtimes. Each cave contains multiple Mushrooms (up to 3), each gives you 1-2 Lunar Funguses.

Completed the quest in less than five minutes on level 16. Make sure to pre-buy Earthroot or gather them throughout your questing before. Good luck!
