Took 4 kills... What I did was look for highest level snaps. theres lvl 32-35 from what I seen -- I went after 35s and eventually dropped off a 34.

Gold was 2nd kill off those sorceresses

Very easy to get the keys - drops the first time for me - and the coords for the finally chest are 30,9 hidden between 2 trees. If u enter the island from the eastern side - u wont have to kill a lot of mobs.. HF ;)

I got the golden key on the first naga (i didn't know that them drops it) and the silver key in like 20 kill

Island is the bigest in desolace's see and chest is betwen some trees. You need to kill like 3 monsters lvl 32-35 to come to the chest

Got the silver key from the first Drysnap Pincer I saw by the book and the gold key from the third Naga I killed...

chest is on Ranazjar Isle next to the stone structure and a few trees. You will see it if you head straight to the island from land, only have to kill about 2 to 3 lvl 35-36 naga

the silver one, was a total !@#$%. had to clean makruras all the way down the sea from where the naga are down to where the makrura cease near shadowprey

Killed about 10 Pincers after I realized there was another type out there. Got this at 30,35 if that helps anyone. Pincers are closer to the shore mostly.

Took me 3 kills before i got it, got it just left from the log, was a bit worried tho, read a previous comment from a guy that said 100 kills :D

The gold key dropped at first kill. The silver key however took almost forever...2 days feels like forever to me. Found the chest on the big island very quickly.

silver key is very rare drop. i got it from a level 35 Drysnap Pincer

ERGH! For me this key dropped after 92 tries. Took me about an hour and a half. Other key dropped first drop from a slitherblade naga. Stupid lucky drops :P

Worst quest in wow history, even if you have gold and silver keys you need to go to an island full of lvl 36 nagas and if you die you run 2k yards to your corpse.

I used Elixir of Water Breathing to stay underwater and i found the key in 16 minutes exactly.

Edit: Gold one took me less than 2 minutes lol

2019 Classic UPDATE: Ok I've been using this site for a LONG time and I understand these posts and reports are from 2005-2007 but even then, come on - people were having bad luck. The average drop rate is around 1 on 15. Don't give up on this quest just yet. Done it twice, got both keys within 15 kills. I'd say 5-10% droprate is a bit more accurate than the depressing amount of 40 to 70 being reported in. I guess excaterating was really trending 15 years ago.

I've spent an hour killing nagas before i finally checked wowhead to find it drops from the lobsters. That's what i get for trusting questie.

Okey so for aynone doing this quest. I literally just spent 2 hours grinding these nagas for the silver keys, I actually gained a whole level for doing this wiithout getting the key AND then i realized thats they dont even drop that ^&*!. DONT LSITEN to QUESTIE. It's the f*cking pincers that drops the silver key, got in my first pincer. This was a pure pain in the ass and I just trhought i would give you guys a heads up. Dont farm the nagas for the silver key.......
