All target dummies have the following levels (20, 40, 60) starting with the simplest to the most complex. Target dummies used on monsters of similar or lower levels will be taunted to it for 3 seconds before the one you held highest aggro on will return to you while other adds if you are just on the aggro list their attention is focused on the target dummy until destroyed.

It cannot be "reused". However, you can loot it when it is "dead" and it will give you about half of the materials back. I got lucky and it gave the thorium parts back almost every time. Also got the elusive fused wiring on one of the drops. I used it to skill my way all the way to 300 with minimal material investment. Other than that...yeah it's pretty useless.

Man, I haven't seen this much whine since . . . wait, I was about to make a bad joke.

Seriously, this is not what you think its for. Its for emergencies. You think you're going to get humped? Drop this down and let it tank the 1 non sheeped mob that is hitting you. Maybe . . . JUST MAYBE, you'll kill the mob you are fighting and get to resheep the 2nd, and kill the one tanking the target dummy, only to be ready to kill the 3rd when its done being a sheep.

Use your imagination. These things are not supposed to "Beat the game" for you. They are supposed to save your butt from time to time.

As they're only really of use solo, when the cost of having my butt saved is 10x the cost of the durability damage of not having my butt saved, I'll choose an unsaved butt. :)

Pretty good for raids when 15 guards are chasing you. Easily buys you and everyone else time to make a break for it.

omg this is actually useful for the big room b4 rattle gore with all the little whelps in scholo. ok so heres the story:

we have 4 mages in our group, there are 4 handlers. so we decide to run in and poly all the handlers and aoe the $%^& out of them, but they all get scattered and %^&* so we're all freaking out, then being the genius i am I put a taret dummy down, woot all of the dragons gather up around it and mages take em out.

greta for rogues, you can get any of the chests in LBRS solo with these, drop one of these loot the chest, wait till mobs kill this thing, shift loot it and vanish, if you get to loot 10 chests succesfuly your gonna make alot more money then you spent on mats, consideitng that you DE all the greens adn probably get a blue or a couple 16sloters.

If u only wanna get Fused Wiring, i suggest u go out and farm some copper and tin to make it instead, its like the same droprate and well..The masterwork is more expensive to do, so...

Being a paladin engineer I used a lots of different Target Dummies on my leveling. In hard fights it can be like extra life. U can place it and use bandage to restore health, get mobs away from casters and so on. But most remarkable episode was occurred in Sunken Temple. We were fighting with last boss (Shade of Eranikus), our team was not so hi-leveled for it and was really hard: warrior died, priest died, hunter and rogue took him dawn to ~30% health while I slept and pet tanking. Next pet died too, then rogue (on ~10% health). I used all my mana to heal and fight (hunter was slept), used lay on hand on myself, and then.. placed Dummy near the dragon (he had ~5% life at that time). In the same moment Target Dummy got sleep, and 2 of us - dying me and hunter, - still killed him!

if you grind with expensive pots this can save you some money (besides major healing pots). 2g mongoose with a 5g str pot = the cost of your death

Me as a priest find these very very helpful. Aggro is the last thing I want and on that boss battle, where I blow off a 3700 crit heal and the boss comes right for me... its nice to toss one of these out to ensure I dont get hurt.

anyone know if this is still effective in BC? Seems like most eningeering crap is useless (like jumper cables) at the lvl 70 level, while of course other crafting professions get epic bops....

Reusable with a 60-minute cooldown timer, now that I could see.
