I would say 9S would be cheap in some instances.

If you are deep in horde territory, it would take about 3 flight paths to head back and nearly cost 9S. Also youll save a bunch of time.

You can also use the hearthstone for warping back or save for another area..

I would buy a few just in case..

Seriously, if you're in Ashenvale, and bound in Ashenvale and you need to get to either run/griff to Auberdine (griff is like 2-3s) or run to Ratchet, from either place you need to take a boat, and then it costs additional money + time to griff to the city (6.5s from Booty Bay to IF, and it tkaes like 5 minutes or 3s from Menethil to Auberdine).

So basically, it's the difference between saving 3s or 10-15 minutes of travel.

And at level 20, 3 silver takes about 3 minutes to make back.

So, I'm going with the runes.

Hearthstones require a long rest period between uses. Having an alternative can really save time if you need to do a lot of travelling.

A rune of teleportation is a reagant. Certain spells for various classes require reagants. Whenever you cast the spell it consumes a single unit of said reagant. Reagants are USUALLY bought from reagant vendors. Light feathers used for the spell featherfall can only be found as drops, runes of teleportation can only be purchased from npcs. (just like you would purchase flux or thread for crafting various items... only merchants sell those).

These cost EXACTLY 10 silver. Less if you have better relationship with certain races (honored = 10% discount from merchants of said race, and so on).

Runes of teleportation can ONLY be used for the mage's spell teleport. Teleport teleports the mage himself (no party members) to one of the race's capitals (portal teleport the mage and others, but use a different reagant). each capital's teleportation is a SEPERATELY SOLD SPELL. It takes a level 20 mage to teleport to the two capitals on the main continent (ie, ironforge and stormwind for allience), and level 30 to learn how to teleport to the capital on the other continent (ie, darnassus for allience).

However, you can teleport from anywhere at anytime once you know how to. Even between continents. (so a level 20 mage could travel to darnassus and teleport to stormwind... i know it doesnt make sense)

There's a shop right between the Drag and the building where Thrall is. The reagent vendor there sells Runes of Teleportation.

You can buy it from the reagent vendor Horthus in orgrimmar.

So if this item is vendor sold for 10s why is it selling for so much on the auction house? Is there something i don't understand that would explain why people are paying 1G plus for something that sells at vendor for 10s?

It's expensive at the AH so programs like auctioneer, which track prices over time, will think that it's really valuable. Then, later, someone will go to sell one in an AH "cheap" for 5 gold or so and some newb who doesn't know what it is will buy it, thinking that they can resell it for a significant profit. Of course, everyone else knows that it's worthless, so the person using the auctioneering program is out 5 gold.

Does anyone know how this works? or, If it even does work? No posts, and I can't find anything about it. Does someone need to learn a talent to make this work? Can you stack this item? Does it take a certain class, profession, etc? please help.

Its for mages, at level 20 mages can learn to teleport to the big citys, and at level 40 we can make portals. (soon there, have a level 37 fire mage now)

Mages teleport. It takes a Reagent. This is the Reagent it requires.

No other classes do it. Warlocks can summon, which isn't the same thing.

It's NOT a profession, it's NOT a skill. Mages do it. That is all.

Edit: Yes, some other classes have their own porting spell, but it's not the same.

Why do they have such an expensive rune to teleport? If you pay for the spell to teleport, you should be able to do it at will. They should make this item NOT be a one-time use. They could even put like a 30-60 minute recharge on it, so its similar to a hearthstone. That would make it so you cant spam it but it isn't so expensive. Teleporting is mage-specific, and adding this expensive cost to every teleport makes it completely not worthwhile.

In most cities, there's a reagent vendor right near the spot where your teleport lands, so it's easy to restock when you arrive. Orgrimmar is an exception and you have to hike quite a distance to find a reagent vendor.

Given the expensive nature of this reagent, don't use it to save on flight costs (example: IF to SW costs 50 copper). It is quite handy as a backup Hearthstone.
