Used in a tribute run to trick an ogre into beating up another ogre, making it possible to avoid a boss to achieve the full effectiveness of a tribute run.

The ogre tannen used to make the suit comes from the ogre tannin basket gaurded by one of the creeps in the instance. So you need a leatherworker with you to make to suit.

Also when doing a tribute run you will need a frost oil potion a thorium widget. These are used to arm the ice trap that can trap one of the bosses in DM, allowing for more loots when the tribute run is completed.

The suit is used to bypass one of the ogre bosses in the instance.

The most rewarding way to run Dire Maul is to bypass all but the last boss, the king. When you kill him, you become the new ogre king. As king you receive a chest full of tribute from the ogre people I guess. Each boss you bypass will make the tribute better (ie more blue items). Also, talk to the bosses you passed up. They will give you some killer buffs that last for 2 hours (3% spell crit, +30% attack power, +15% stam).

To clear the record here, by completing the quest the goblin prisoner offers you gain the ogre suit. Also, if you are a leatherworker, you can get the pattern to make these yourself. My guildie got it, and have makes them for us.

I just learned this last night. I'm not sure how it works for leatherworkers but I'm sure its the same thing. Have the tailor or leatherworker complete the suit quest, then talk to the goblin again. One of the comments you can make, along with the question about killing the guard the old fashioned way, is asking him to teach you to make the suit. He doesnt' give you a pattern or anything, just teachers you right then and there on the spot. The material cost is way way lower... 1 tannin, 1 rune thread, 2 rune bolts and a lesser amount of leather, can't remember how much. Good luck with it. :)

It doesn't affect your "shoot bow" height. NE females shoot right out of the groin wearing it. Saw one doing that, it was hilarious :)

Do you have to be a certain tailoring or leatherworking level or can you get it at any level

You need only one suit per run, not per person.
Only one person needs to talk with the captain.

And, after you release Knot, you can loot its box, and find Ogre Tannin there, so, if you count the one found one level above, you can possilby have two Ogre Tannins per run.

y not use hunter to kite the captain same way they kite General in UBRS? here, however, the sole purpose of kiting the captain would be for the rest of the team to slip thru the location of the captain...then hunter FDs (or dies.. depending)...captain resets to his position..but your group is hopefully behind him by then :))))

i think it is a pretty viable strategy..just put shield/renew on hunter and he should do fine...maybe even use the trap that slows captains movement or something...the hunter should pull as far as the dogs b4 the king...

the main key is to have the rest of the group slip thru the area asap...

good luck tell me if it works for i haven't done this yet :)))))))))

p.s. while i was at work i kept thinking of whether the hunter trick works or not (still to be verified), and came up with another strategy that a group can use if they forgot/don't have enough mats to build a suit. a rogue with IMP SAP has a 10% chance of coming out of stealth when sapping. if happen to have a rogue in your group and he happens to have 3 points in IMP SAP talent have him sap the captain while the rest of the group slips thru...all rogue has to do is keep stealth untill the sap effect wears off and the captain successfully resets. after that u can continue clearing. however, if the rogue in your group doesn't have any points invested into IMP SAP talent he will have to sacrifice himself by saping the captain (coming out of stealth as the result) then having the group slip thru and then wait till the sap wears off and die.then rogue gets rezzed and your can continue... :) happy hunting !

p.p.s. as i already mentioned, none of the above strategys have been verified yet, so use the guide at your own risk of being stuck with a corpse run :) also if someone does use this strategy plz plz post here so that the others can be sure if it wors or not :)))

If you type /dance while in the ogre suit, you will do a dance similar to that of the druid's Moonkin form :P

ok, being as i cant find any comments on this anywhere....

This suit is a reward for a quest picked up by Knot Thimblejack in Dire Maul North.

Basically you have to bring him:

Bolt of Runecloth x4
Rugged Leather x8
Rune Thread x2
Ogre Tannin x1

Then you get this suit which turns you into an Ogre.

Cant give any more info I'm afraid as I was hoping to come here and look for some info :P

If you are a tailor or leatherworker you can make this pattern. The goblin (Knot Thimblejack) that gives you this quest in Dire Maul North can train you in making it. However, it is hard to spot. When you talk to him, there is a comment at the bottom of the window that will grant you the recipe when you click on it.
