This is a pretty nice shield, it looks like a nice alternative to the Barrier Shield or Draconian Deflector for tanks.

Anybody know where it drops?

Seems like one of the newly added drops in 1.4
This drops off Ras Frostwhisper in Scholomance. Hope it looks better than the ugly barrier shield.

Good shield, can't use it yet though :(. And it is possible to main tank scholo at 56,full imperial set, 31 points in protection, and bloodcraze/enrage from fury. only porblem I had was the 58 hunter was criting almost every shot. spamm sunder armor and taunt like mad!

((I had also just MT'ed Stratholme before it, got guantlets of valor, woot)) ^_^

Just got this shield from Scholo it rocks so much more than my last shield Aegis of Stormwind. There is some really good stuff to be had in Scholo.

Is there any reason why this has the Equip:+24block rather than just having 63 block?

If they set it at 63 the level of the shield would be very high.

I have both this and the Draconian Defector, but i'm not sure which is better the +10 def or the +24 block?

Draconian is the best blue shield for a warriot that you could ever wish for. Sta, defense and fire resistance is more godly than almost any other shield short of zul'gurub, baron kazum or blackwing lair.

<- is a defense #$%^&, can you tell?

This shield is a lot easier to get. I'd take Ras over Drakkisath any day of the week.

Just picked this up today off of ol' Ras. Been using the Barrier Shield for a while, but this one looks more to my tanking taste (increased block and added stamina are always welcome) In getting this shield also earned me Darrowshire Strongguard. I'm keeping both for specific uses (might even keep the Barrier but will probably vendor it). My dilemma is what to put on it? I have a Thorium Spike (make em on Spirestone) on the Barrier...should I put another one on these or go for something else like an enchant?

BTW I'm a Lvl 60 Dwarf Warrior, Protection specced.

Barrier shield will actually block more per hit you take (8.77 average vs. 8.44), but that small of an increase means you have to get hit 243 times to block the 80 points of damage that you just have an hp buffer for with the stam from this.

Now, IMHO, this is also better than draconian, especially if you've already got a decent def. They are useful for different places, obviously drac in MC say, but this is better for something like AQ20 or ZG, till you get AotBG.

Im not sure why noone has pointed this out yet but this shield is a mini version of "the immovable object" diffrent amount but same bonus

I don't get it why people seem to completely forget that this shield has a higher block value than most other (blue) shields, of course Draconian Deflector has +10 defense, but most tanks have lots of gear with defense anyway. Harder to come by stuff that increases your block value and why then not get this shield that increases it? A tanker will take many hits and block a lot of the hits and then blocking more damage per attack means a HUGE difference.

Improving your block value goes along with improving the defense, with increased defense you also block, parry and dodge plus makes the enemy miss you more frequently as well as less crits. The better your block chance gets, the more often your good block value comes to use. Also Strength makes your block value higher.

Would probably choose this one instead of Draconian deflector for tanking except if I needed to add more Fire Resistance. But in the end, it all depends on how your total gear looks like!

Passives = not affected by talents. Somthing that makes your blocking better won't end up effecting the passive +24 points.

can someone please explain why Blizz decided to make the extra block a passive instead of adding it directly to the normal block value? seems kinda redundant to me

im going to give this a shot over the Draconian Deflector for a little while but most likely it will become vendor feed.

I've got it and I use it. Its a nice shield, but from a purely visual standpoint it looks kind of lame.

A nifty little placeholder until I get Draconian, was definitely an upgrade over the Aegis of SW I was using anyhow.

I've never EVER seen Ras drop this shield, so I severely question the drop rate. Any thoughts?

I'm using this -- I want the deflector more, but this certainly isn't a bad shield. I can easily off-tank in the core with it, and can emergency MT with it.
