I always saw Ring of Binding as being more of a PvP ring than PvE.

In PvP you can be attacked by any school of magic or Melee at any time, RoB helps against anything that can attack you.

PvE is more about being a specialist. Saying that its a fantastic general purpose PvE ring.

theres lots of endgame stuff that this ring would be useful for...lets see, ZG, BG's (its nice to see frost nova and frost shock get resisted), all the world bosses (dragons and the like)
yes there are better rings for straight up tanking, but the risists to everything is a nice bonus
and yes, feral (or any) druids have every right to wear this if they want. all our druids have passed this for our tanks so far, but its all theirs after us. yes, its not a healing ring...but i'm a tanking spec warrior, yet i still carry around damage gear. fact is, you can have more than one set of gear OMGBBQ! anyways the resists are nice for anyone, armor bonus that druids get help with this ring, 4 defense isn't much for warriors...this ring is nice, but nothing amazing for anyone. i know i keep it in my bags :)

it has resist and when there is a mandatory 315 fr in MC this will always come in handy

I'd use this ring in fights where more than 1 resistance is useful. f.e. at Ragnaros I would rather use a simple +20FR ring, but at sulfuron or Majordomo this ring is really nice as there's shadow and fire to worry about. You'd get more out of this ring in such cases.

So yea, it's situational. But isn't just about all gear at lvl 60?

I think this ring is situational. As a tank, it's currently my 2nd best ring vs. Physical damage with the defense and armor bonus.

For Fire, I won't use it. I have 2 other rings I use vs. Rag.

HOwever, for AQ and BWL I will definately wear this ring over what I have now. I won this item with a slightly higher bid than minimum. Our guild is hitting MC heavy and Ony heavy right now so it's not something people think they NEED. But once we get into BWL and AQ more, I think they'll start to realize they need this, just like they realized they needed the FR for MC.

One thing people fail to realize is this game is not just about physical abuse. One thing a protection warrior doesn't have in his talent tree is resistance. So his resistance has to come from gear. Given the fact that it also adds def and armor is not a bad thing. One thing from making this ring godly is stam.

There are few situations where you'll need all those resistances at once.

Let's say you need FR. This ring gives you 10 FR and 5 defense. (From a warrior's perspective, the 60 armor is relatively negligable.)

You can get a +21 green FR ring, and then get a Naglering(BRD), Band of the Steadfast Hero (Summonable tier 0.5 boss in scholo), or Overlord's Crimson Band (ZG). The Naglering is not too hard to get, and the Band of the Steadfast Hero is farmable at scholo if you have a friend who can summon. Considering that you get the Ring of Binding at a 17% drop off Onyxia, it's not too fantastic. Of course there may be situations where you'd want it, but it's by no means anything really 'too' special.

I was thinking this ring might be good for tanking chromagnus and for just tooling around. +10 to all resistances is not shabby and alllows u to have 1o blank ristastance already after a new instance. (like naxxramas) comes out.

The ring is good for tanking warriors/druids and the 10 res to all schools of magic is pretty nice too.

considering the defense and armor given from this..it would be best for a resistance fight for a TANK...we had a hunter bid on it she said it has good stats fora hunter...ok..shes the kind that makes you do the "Hunterrr lewtz!" jokes...what a noob..the only thing they get a real benefit from is the resistances..

a warrior with 7500 armor (before equipping this ring) gains 0.194% damage reduction from this ring.

a druid with 10000 armor gains 0.621% damage reduction.

a cloth wearer with 1400 armor gains 0.687% damage reduction.

the resistances benefit everyone equally.

as far as i know, defense gives all classes the same amount of +block/dodge/parry. but since not all classes can block and parry, it slightly favors the ones that can. defense on a ring also favors druids slightly because they are the most viable non-warrior tanks and there is a lack of leather armor with +defense. it probably benefits warriors and druids the most, but there are better rings out there for tanking.

as a warlock, i'd love this for PvP. its great when ambush crits only hit me for 500 damage =)

just to quote a bit here, yes it can be sold (almost 9g) and i find it quiet good, not because of the extreme ammount of armor it gives, but resistance to all magic is very useful + defence dosnt hurt either

suggestion....take a look at all the rings in the game....ok now only look at the rings with fire resist....there's 2 blue ones and 3 epic ones...blue ones include rag's core ring...and the reward from the MC chain, epic one's are the archmagus (5resist all),dragonslayers, and this ring.....between all the choices...i'd take this one for FR in a heartbeat

I wonder why so many people think of this ring as a tank ring.

There are green rings specialized against one school of magic that do twise as much for the bearer.

It's now +4 defense, and beside the fast that anybody can use defense, it's simply not much defense for a tank.

Finally, the armor bonus is negligible due to diminishing returns on a tank. It's only to be felt for non-plate wearers.

My conclusion; this is no PvE tank ring, but an obvious PvP ring for every class. Only in PvP, you're threatened by so many schools of magic and can therefore use this ring for best effect.

It's one of my two favourite rings for PvP.

I got it yesterday on Onykill, since i'm Tank is think its way better than a Band of the Ogre King, +6 Def is actually quite nice.
the other ring should be Heavy Darkiron.

As I've started to PvP some on our little Carebear server, I've gotten a hold of this ring and I must say it is great in bearform. It is 60 armor for you maybe, but to a Druid it's 360%-370% times 60 armor ;) AND it has great resistance.

Definatly worth getting :)

My guild randoms for this ring, no one really wants it enought to spend rp (dkp) on it, so we call it NR or FR gear and random it. Not a horrible ring, but really needs to have stamina rather than armor. It goes quite well with Malfurion's Signet Ring for tanking Emerald Dream Dragons.

I use it on my fire kit.. (60 warrior)
caus for tanking you loose to much hp by wearing it, and 60 armor is about nothing...
