Shapeshifting mana costs really add up and this is a huge mana saver for any hybrid druid quickly switching in and out of forms.

This trinket is lovely. Of course, I expected those comments from all you "trendy staple druids" who all went restoration and geared up for restoration and... have no clue of the real potential of a druid. We're sorry if you don't know how to utilize everything at your arsenal, and is forced to play something even Blizzard can't figure out.

Feral, Balance, or Restoration... a druid is needed everywhere. Being able to have mana-free shapeshifting is definitely useful. Just think of what you might need with that very mana you just used. I mean, last I've checked a single shift to bear form is about the same cost as Healing Touch with the improvement talent. I'm sure keeping someone alive is more important than flaunting in your fury coat. And don't even say Innervate either. Relying on that talent alone is what makes you a poor druid.

Besides, trinkets are really meant for situational ideals. You don't keep one trinket on you all the time. You switch around! This is definitely a need for me.

wow, how useless is this?

ok lets think for a second here (for all these coments from the druids saying we lack imagination if we don't like this trinket)

on average, in 20 seconds, if you shapeshift more than twice, i'd bet you're doing something pretty wrong

ok you click the trinket, you have 20 seconds. what can you do in 20 seconds?

a: go cat form. get 3 combo points and it'll be time for a heal, shift to heal, back to cat form get the other 2 combo points and hit...20seconds will be up by now..you shfited twice

b: bear form? you need to build up rage in bear form, and with the dmg reduction, you usually wont need to shift for at least 15 seconds. so in 20seconds, you shift once, maybe a max of twice

c: this is the ONLY use i can think of. constantly shifting whilst running away in cheetah form (think CTF). even though, if you#'re running BWL, my bet is you have more than 6kmana, so could do this anyway without the trinket.

the problem here is yes, GOOD druids do take advantage of their shifting abilites by knwoing when to use them, but i would think it'd be VERY rare to shift more than 4 times (in 20 seconds)in any given situation, making this trinket basically useless.

the only time this trinket would be good is against mages, who we completely own anyway, so theres no need

Who ever mentioned using it with intensity had the right idea. If you popped the trinket, went cat, spammed out your energy, switch caster, then back to cat you'd have full energy again at no mana cost. Burn energy, repeat.

Less useful for bear though. Maybe if you're low on mana, go bear w/ 5/5 furor, hit your bash then back to caster for a no mana cost stun I guess.

Overall I probably wouldn't spend my DKP on it until I had everything else and was just looking for toys.

At last Druids can dodge the insanely high mana cost of switching to aquatic form (that blob thing you don't ever use). Think of how fast you will swim and it won't cost you ANYTHING! This is a must have for any feral spec Druid with a focus in aquatic form who didn't go all the way to the end of the feral tree and hasn't invested in swift shifting.

Now we can just cross our fingers and hope for an aquatic form swim speed boost in a future raid set. Then again, who needs the + healing bonus for Wildheart...I hope you're reading this Blizz, these ideas are gold!

I'm a restoration specced Druid, and even I think this trinket would be useful. Seriously, how can you not? To all those who say "cannot use while shifted" I say to you: USE IT WHEN YOU'RE IN CASTER FORM, then shift -duh! Now, i agree that this trinket has more use for PvP, but it's also useful for the Druid that goes Solo and fights "hard" mobs. Let's go over this, shall we?

For PvP and PvE:
A Druid can activate this at any point in battle, so long as s/he is in CASTER FORM (obviously you don't use this when in bear/cat/travel/moonkin). Now to take advantage of this (and this is completely dependent on how you spec) you can do the following:
1. Shift to bear (no mana) and feral charge the enemy target. Shift out to caster and cast whatever it is you like (moonfire, FF, insect swarm, rejuv, regrowth, etc.). Then you could shift into cat (no mana) form and lay down a few combo points (i'd suggest 2-3 to maximize your time in cat) and add a few hundred extra points of dmg. After this, you'd probably want to heal again, so switch out to caster and heal (maybe NS if you're very wounded). Then if you need to buy yourself some time, or just want to beat on them, shift to bear form again (no mana) and bash them or feral charge -or both. Following this you could shift out to caster, pop on a rejuv, and shift back into cat (no mana) just in time for the trinket to run out.

In this example, I've managed to shift myself 3-4 times which saves a LOT of mana. Not only that, but i have maximized my dmg in a very short period of time. This can be applied to any PvP situation, or PvE where the Druid tends to be solo. This trinket is even better for Druids who do not have innervate, but even so, you can never save too much mana. Hope I brought some insight to this whole deal.

Limited uses? Not in PvP! This owns moonfire spaming, if you have Furor and Ferocity, you can Maul or Claw every time you shift. Plus, you won't be interupted at all in the meantime.

feral dont suxxs... play feral a few days and you will have much more fun with your druid :)

good for pvp/pve/farming/istances (considering that you can tank as much good as a non def skilled warrior (really) and do as much dmg as rouges (really) and also : a party with 4 rouges and a feral : many rouges say :"whats this... 3% crit .. for me ? oh :) nice" (4*3%=12% more than 12% dmg (and you really fill the other 78% of the "lost" rouge) and if there is need for more heal at a boss fight "cheerio! i will heal (also not bad with the 20% mana bonus form hot))"

i played both a long time and i like beeing feral... if you dont : dont say feral sux :/

just my opinon and also : most of the rest druids i know always say : "i wanna be feral also :/ i cant farm or anything :( in a few days i�ll change" ... not teh exact words but hey :)

If ur feral and have gift of the wild u have the 20% hp bonus in bear, u can heal urself from giong bear, caster, bear, caster. With this thing on you can heal urself without casting. With this trinket u can totally heal urself no casts no mana. Horribly overpowered in wsg if they know what there diong

1. I'm a fully specced cat druid
2. I have a load of epic cat gear including the dragon mace, bwl trinkets etc.
3. I have this trinket
4. It's hard to justify wasting a slot for this, it has a 30 second timer before it can be used.
5. It can't be switched whilst in combat so you have to give up a slot for it.
6. The cooldown timer is 5 mins ! not exactly great for a WSG game.
7. Other than bear form to get out of the flagroom in wsg you don't shift that much other than slowing effects, and if you have that many on you, your lucky to get outside to get into travel form.

So really the only useful time I can see for this (and i have used it in wsg) is when your midfield with a few hoardes on your tail polying/frost etc.
Other than that it's Crap !

If someone can think of a viable use for this then i'm all ears.

the use for this trinket is quite simple. when you shift out to heal, heal yourself, and then find you have no mana to shapeshift back and are pretty much screwed, just click the trinket and shapeshift.

of course you're not going to be using i twice in 20 seconds, but once is quite enough to keep you out of a lot of icky jams

tejing - kargath - 60 feral druid (even in MC!)

it's about ^&*% time feral druids got some good class-specific epic gear.

This + earthstrike + furor + wolfshead helm = execute range style damage.

Pop this, the earthstrike for crazy damage, and spec furor and wear the hat for 60 energy every time you shift, and you can shred + 80 energy bite maybe 15 times.

This pwnz for WSG in 20 secs:-

go catform stealth to flag

go to caster grab flag

go to bear escape with flag throo right entrance

travel form outside to escape

not forgetting the wing clips and ham stings you get shape shifting removes these instantly so this trinket is grate saves a lot of mana wastage.

Got this trinket some week ago, now im pure Resto atm but I plan respeccing later at some point.

My idea behind taking this was simple, with Furor and Wolfshread helm you can shift in and shift out spamming Shred on the target every second for 20 seconds.

you can heal your arse off until you have 0 mana. THEN you can change into bear (via this trinket) for survivability. How is this bad?

hehe, that made me laugh. funny picture. I disagree that this trinket is harder to get then all your mentioned ones, cuz i have none of yours, but i have this one.

When im in wsg to defend for example i cat for dps, switch out to heal party, switch to bear to charge one healer, stun another enemy, shift out to heal or dps again. As peeps already said, its very nice with furor, get combo points, switch out and in again and finish off. That alone costs a ton of mana and is less then 20 secs. So yeh that trinket is useful, cuz i want to spend my mana to heal party and not on forms.

You dont need it for spamming starfire from a safe position. Though u might wanna switch out for healing when your not so safe anymore. If its free u might even switch back to oomkin...

Powershifting.

Definition? Shifting in and out of feral forms to use the talent Furor to "cheat" rage and energy generation.

Put simply, you regen 20 energy every 2 seconds. When you enter cat form with Furor, you automatically generate 40 rage. Global cooldown is 1 second. A smart and skilled druid can use this technique to churn out a lot of claws very quickly, gain combo points very quickly, and get a nice 5-point rip off in about 8 seconds.

Let's think about this fight. You sneak up on.. well, anyone you like really, prowling in cat form.

Ravage, 1k damage.
Rake, Roughly 200 damage, 100 now, 100 DoT over 9 seconds.
Shift out. Trinket. Shift in.
Claw, 300 damage.
Shift out. Shift in.
Claw, 300 damage.
Shift out. Shift in.
Claw, 300 damage.
Shift out. Shift in.
5 point rip. 1.1k damage over 12 seconds.

...That whole sequence takes ooh.. 6-8 seconds? 2.1k damage, without crits, and a further 1.1k when your DoT is finished bearing fruit. You're already doing 250+ dps (Not counting the DoT) and you haven't used a single point of mana. AND the trinket still has 10 more seconds, long enough for 5 more claws and a big tasty ferocious bite, while the 1.1k DoT keeps ticking.

THEN you can shift out to a 100% mana bar.

Show me any other way a Druid can deal 400+dps sustained over 20 seconds before you call this "vendor trash".

edit: AND YOU CAN DO IT ONCE EVERY 5 MINUTES!

Ok. Im part feral, 0,30,21 and i would LOVE this trinket. the fact, that shifting _does_ cost alot of mana, if you have to pop to cat or bear constantly, is sometimes a problem. just as "Dryn_Venture" writed, you can get aroun 2k damage without crits in less than 10 seconds!, and the trinket lasts 20 seconds, which is rougly 4k damage in 20 seconds. My guild just started bwl, and im hoping this over any stormrage. and the ppl who say "i dont want to use my trinket slots", you can change trinkets you know.. all in all, this is INSANE, i would just love it.

At first I was 'Meh, nothing special' on winning this, but there is a definite upside to it. Its use is highly situational though, both in terms of pvp and more likely in a power-shifting sense on some boss encounters as well as elite solo/duo grinding. I would tend to think its probably more cat and travel form focused rather than bear. If used aggressively in that sense, it can be beneficial since feral gear inevitably gimps your mana pool quite dramatically.

The biggest drawback is that it uses a trinket spot and therefore has to replace something else we have. For example in cat form, thats a big issue when compared to other trinks that give you a more sustained up front buff, like a Hand of Justice or Maelstrom card. Thats the kicker with this trinket - it would have been better if there was also some incorporated stat with it to make it more appealing.

We with Tree of Life will now finaly benefit from having this trinket... not that much but it very much is handy in long fights where we have to pop out of the tree to innervate our mates or NS+HT and such

Wouldn't be so bad if it dropped off of Drakk in UBRS, or maybe Luci. But Vael? Not worth it. Last raid none of our 6 druids even bidded the minimum DKP for it, so we just randomed it off.

Who the hell said that this has no use in PvE?

Hmmm..have you ever encountered a mob that drains mana? If so, don't feel too special - happens to everyone hundreds of times...

I am personally 99.9% feral (1 point being in Nature's Grasp) and the amount of times, in a PvE situation, I have had to 'hit and hope' in Nelfy form is not damn funny trying to wait for enough mana to shift back to bear/cat.

you guys cant be serious, you dont think this is a useful trinky? If i got this trinket i would covet its affect as being equal to NS and innervate! think about it, you no longer have to worry "will i have enough mana to switch back into bear when i pop that last heal off?" you can heal yourself with abandon, hit the affect, then pop right back into dire bear for 0 mana. WHO WOULDNT WANT THAT! And with that, the cooldown is only 5 minutes, so it is just like a spell. Those annoying pally/druid priest/druid and druid/druid fights would be so much easier, you could use the trinket like 2-3 times per fight! I ask you all....how long have you played a druid?

I can see this being used to make full use of the new Furor talent for cat form.

3 Piece Stormrage + 3/3 Natural Shapeshifter + Furor + Trinket.

Idea being that when you re-shift to gain 40 energy you activate trinket, then re-shift a few times during those 20 seconds to keep gaining 40 energy. If they all stack it would save quite a lot of mana.

My king friend Masteritchy told me about "druid adrenaline rush" mod...or DAR. It shapes you to cat and uses your talent, then back again. I think even if you dont have furor you are able to wear the energy helm and still have the mod work, testing it out today gg gratz me on some loots.

But apparently this mod will shape you in and out for 20 seconds to build up 5 points and whammy.

It's also a great addition for a wsg gulch game, or any battleground or world pvp for that matter.

I am a feral druid with 37 points in feral and none in resto, my guild has 2 more feral druids with about the same spec. My guild has downed nefarian and guess what, 2 feral druids were there!

feral druids are really useful in endgame raid instances, too bad you are too ignorant to see it

My theory with this, (haven't gotten it yet but there's a feral druid in my guild who picked one up.) is it's not bad used in conjunction with cower in catform. Other classes like hunters and priests get fd or fade abilities, and druids have one as well (one that is often forgotten about: cower.)

With this trinket, in the right situations (many BWL fights bring up aggro issues) you can basically have a free catform - cower - caster - carform - cower every five minutes.

I use cower, but only for rare and necessary aggro reduction situations when I have the substantial amount of mana affordable for the shapeshift + cower.

With this trinket I think it could make some battles easy when aggro issues are a problem.

You probably shapeshift alot, tank ragnaros yourself and if by all means possible let the warriors heal you with their bandages? Right...

This trinket is nothing worth more then then money the nearby vendor gives for it. It might be nice for your pvp gankers out there, but for the hardcore (C)healbot2000 druids its worth nothing. I think I can count the feral druids on silvermoon on 1 hand..

You guys just dont get it, druids are not only healbots. Sure, if you dont have any restoration in your build at all, you suck and shouldn't be allowed in an endgame instance. But with my feral/resto build i am healing just fine, better than most priests out there. Now i admit, i have only been in MC once as of right now, but i am trying to join a guild that runs MC every night, so my opinion may start to matter soon. But the thing is, yes we only heal in those instances, but unless you are a sad shell of a gamer that plays the game ONLY for the items that they can get and not for the fun of the game, you dont ONLY heal. You duel, you run instances with friends of yours (low level instances where you dont have to heal like strat or DM, you can get along tanking in those just fine, I have done it so i know that it is particularily easy) Sure, this trinky isn't as nice for raiding as the other classes trinkies, but it is still !@#$ing awesome for all around druidness.

It's not really that useless imho. Imagine charging into a point in AB, activate the trinket, go bear > charge, go cat > damage > pop out and heal, go bear again and survive. It saves quite a bit of mana.

We've killed Vaelastrasz 3 times, and guess what? This goddamn POS trinket has dropped everytime! Blizzard could replace the word "Use" with "Equip" on this one and it would still be only marginally useful.

What the hell was blizz thinking! You suck blizz I hate you! All the other classes got some sweet trinkets that will really help them in exploring MC and BWL and whatever is next. Why the hell would I ever want a reduction in mana cost of shape shifting? Our forums are 100% useless in these instances having a 100% reduction of mana cost while using them is 100% useless. If you're a feral druid you're not comming on my raid. You're taking the spot of a good druid or priest for healing. (Bear can be nice to survive when you're the bomb on baron in MC but come on.)

I doubt a feral druid will ever ever ever be on a raid in BWL because they will never make it there and if they do it's only because everyone else in the raid is so uber they didn't need you in the first place.

How about a trinket like.

-Reduces the casting time and mana of nature spells by 50% for 20 secs.

Now that would be useful. Even 25% would be nice.

Uhm, we have a talent wich reduces the mana cost of shapeshifting by 60% if used within 6 sec from last shapeshift.

I could see a use for this trinket, but I'd never spend any DKP on it unless I got it for free.

Not worthy of epic status IMHO.

edit: it was by 60%, not to 60%, renders this even more useless in my eyes.

i could see how this would be useful, but it seems more along the lines of a ZG blue than a BWL epic...

as for the idiot that says no one takes feral druids to end instances, your guild must not be fun to be in.

saturday when i helped down nef, there were 2 moonkins, me being 1, 2 feral druids and 3 resto druids. ( i think... might have been 3 feral and 2 resto)

anyway, i think that this should be changed to an equip, and be 80% or 90% instead of 100%, because then it would be cool, and be worthy of the purple lettering, but not outrageously overpowered.

I don't see what everyone is complaining about -- thats an amazing trinket. For all the shifting you do in pvp, hit thta once, you can go cat, attack a bunch, go bear, stun heal, all for free. Or tons of other combos. I only wish it had a 90s cooldown like TOEP.

Finally figured out what this could be useful for..when shifting into bear form you recover quite a bit of your HP (might be only with heart of the wild skilled, probably a bug), this is basically a full heal over 20 seconds.

I got this trinket last week. It's pretty useless to me most of the time. There are times where it's handy to be able to come out of cat/bear and heal myself even to the point of being OOM, hit the trinket and go back to bear to finish off a mob. I don't think it's worthy of epic BWL loot status though.

About the only thing this is useful for aside from WSG is to create a druid version of adrenaline rush.

Now, the DAR mod that's out there blows. The guy who wrote it says he never uses shred(?) so the useless thing uses claw. He also never thought that some people might be willing to trade mana for burst damage so it doesn't work at all if the trinket's not active. But you can modify it.

Wolfshead Helm plus Furor = Shift shred shift shift shred shift shift shred shift shift shred shift. No mana cost with this trinket.

But you'll probably pull hate and get killed. :)

even for ferals this trinket isn't worth spending any point to it :(.

in feral forms you can't "USE" anythink and there are much better trinkets for ferals with armor/evade/crit. even trinkets with "changs to proc on hit" are better (don't know why weapon procs arn't alowed but procs from armor/trinkets).

It could have it's uses, for instance, does the swing timer still reset for us when we shift out of cat form? Because if it does, spamming cat form with this trinket = free weapon swings with my 3.8 speed finkles, which would be hitting for 300 or so every second, thats not bad at all. Possibly I could see it being usefull in WG too when flag carrying. But other then that, it's prolly just gonna be a waste of DKP when I get it. (I'm a feral druid and we are doing firemaw right now in my guild so you can't say feral druids don't get in end game guilds, they just have to heal most of the time.) I bet a trinket will drop off Nerfarian

The person that designed this seems to have at least once carried the flag out of the enemy base in Warsong Gulch with talent points in heart of the Wild...and this person had at least mediocre IQ.

I bet most of those who despice this item don't match any part of this description.

Well, I see a couple of people from 2005 saw how valuable the trinket was with furor and WH helm all they were missing was the MCP connection. You can use the trinket in cat form. Shred/Shred/PS/Shred Shred/PS/Shred/FB adjust rotation for crits.

Ignore the naysayers and trolls who obviously haven't played Druid in its most versatile way. This trinket is great. As a cat in PVE, provided that you don't have good trinkets due to high competition, using this trinket will increase your DPS significantly. In PVP situation, this trinket may not be favoured especially if you're an engineer or have a lot of trinkets to use already. And yet in general PVP situations, you will definitely want to rely on this trinket since you will be forced to shapeshifter continuously. Overall, Feral druids will make the most of this trinket in both PVE and PVP situations especially for those who don't have a big mana pool. But any types of druids will find this trinket very useful.
