Great necklace for healers, with just a tad of intellect & a nice amount of mana regen.

I would personally give it to shamen, mostly because they have quite a low mana regen. But it's a great necklace for every healer nonetheless.

Great for DRUIDS too - any true caster/healer class would be able to benefit this.
Mana restore for a priest/resto druid = vital.
Mana restore for a Mage/lock/pala = important. Mana restore for a hunter, well, it's not going to help save a wipe in an instance now is it?

Items that restore mana are really only good when you equip several of them. 9 mana per 5 seconds isn't that noticable, but 25 is. Hunters don't wear mana restore armor obviously, so i really think this would be much better for a priest with mana restore gear.

I need 284 intellect to match that.
Not to mention that you can have 2 mindtap talimans, and that the gear stated above isn't the best gear there is. There's also that mana regen wand, mana regening capes, rings with more mana regen and such.

If you are not a priest, I can see how you do not understand.
Mage out of mana = not vital/important
Priest out of mana = tank dead

good for you? I was trying to prove a point to the one who said mana regen sucks. I even said my gear was not the best.
Blessing of wisdom and the regen has nothing to do with his comment about mana regen sucking since you can have those regardless of the items.
The point of my post was to show that mana regen gear, when stacked is more beneficial in a long fight rather than the + damage the guy was requesting.

What did your post prove?

60- Druid

With this necklac i would be over 90/5s and with the stormrage buff next patch, i will easily break 100man /5s with just gear. I also will have 30% mana regen from 3 piece SR and the talent. 297 sprit + gear = ....alot of mana in any boss fight.

right now i can cast 2 rejuvs and get all my mana back befre the 2nd one wears off

Amazing neck piece for any healer.
Priest, Druid, or Paladin.

I'm at 90 mana regen/5 secs as a paladin in full plate...
This necklace would help even more.

It was possible to equip 2 shards of scale before they made it unique, before one of the patches.

i got this yesterday, i am a priest, and with this equipped i regen 123 mana in a boss fight, but this is such an awesome necklace, plus it lets me replace my old stormpike's sages' pendant =D

As a priest I'm collecting +mana regen gear and think this is the 2nd best neck item in the game so far. I would prefer Wavefront Necklace instead, but unfortunately my guild doesn't do Silithus bosses a lot, so I decided to get this one (spent sh**load of DKP on it too =/).

Got Essence Gatherer in the same run too, so I'm a damn happy person atm :D

i'm looking at this on another priest on my server thinking 'mmmm tasty, must drop from nefarian, cos i've never seen that before'. so i come here and find it drops from Vael with a 19% chance!

what a rip-off. we've been farming the whole of BWL for over a month and first killed Vael around the beginning of the year yet not one drop :(

ppl that compare this to junk like the jeweled amulet of chainwyn seriously dont understand how certain stats in this game work. did you really think blizzard would make a common BoE drop from BRS better than BoP item from BWL?

OMG this thing rocks for Priests. Anyone who doesn't know how valuable +mana/5 is has prob never used the muse mod, or never done 40 man raids. The mana that you would get from this is unreal compaired to those other items. And if you are in a good guild they usually chain pull up to boss's before you ever get the chance to get to FM anyways

Mage Item...

The 9:5 ratio works out to be 18 Spirit if you have Mage Armor on. If you don't, it works out to be a benefit of 1.8 mana per SECOND. In an Onyxia battle you would gain about 540 mana just from the effect, and that's if you're casting ALL the time (you won't be).

The 12 int gives you almost a 1% crit chance, so....

+0.91% crit chance
+18 Spirit {works during casting}
+9 Sta

Not a bad Mage necklance if you know what you're doing.

Anyone who says this sucks is moronic. No, it doesn't have +dmg so a mage and a warlock don't want it. No, it doesn't have + heal so a Paladin shouldn't want it that badly.

Best healing shaman/priest neck in the game, and it's not even close. 9 spirit is worth about 24-25 spirit on average to a priest... so it gains about 15 stats to a comparable blue. That's why it's purple.

People comparing this to jeweld amulet might not realize the power of mana/5sec.

18 int vs 12 int, 6 int difference, which equates out to 90 mana, over the course, which would be 10 ticks or 50 seconds of this item

Not many endgame fights are under 50 seconds, the 10 spirit on Jeweled does help, but for spirit to be good you need intentionally regen, this guy keeps on providing

well lets take a look at the alternatives then:

Frostwolf Advisor's Pendant
+10 Stamina
+10 Intellect
Passive: Restores 4 mana every 5 sec.

PotFD: -1 stam, +2 int, +5 mana / 5 sec

Choker of Enlightenment
+10 Intellect
+10 Spirit
+9 Stamina
Passive: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 18.

PotFD: -10 spi, -18 dmg/heal, +2 int, +9 mana / 5 sec

Choker of the Fire Lord
+7 Intellect
+7 Stamina
Passive: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 34.

PotFD: +5 int, +2 stam, +9 mana / 5 sec, -34 heal/dmg

i think it's pretty clear that a caster is better off with any choker. for healers, it becomes a bit more tricky.
i'd say the Choker of the Fire Lord is better for all healers, but this is also the very best for any dd caster class. the probability of you acquiring is rather slim (in my guild it's even DD caster only loot, you cant even roll as a healer).
so that leaves Choker of Enlightenment & PotFD. i'd say the choice between those two depends on build:
manaregen build? go for PotFD
+heal build? go for CoE

i'm a crit/regen shaman, i'll take PotFD...
