I'd use it with just the 9mana/5seconds. The +healing (and damage) is just icing. mana/5seconds is amazing for priests or druids.

Most of the people commenting don't understand how important INT, SPI and mana regen are in the Core.

If you did, you'd know how key this ring is.

This ring is designed for raids. Yes, it sucks outside of raids but...

Inside the context of an 8 minute boss fight, this ring is godly. 1 MP/5sec is worth over 7 Intellect in a long fight.

So, for raids, this ring is godly.

This is definately for the Priests and Druids. Mages / Warlocks really shouldnt roll on this, we have plenty of decent rings.

As a shadow priest you have no mana regen from spirit (nothing 'whilst casting' like Mage Armor, or the warlock hp->mana tap, no evocation or gems.. etc). Anyone who has tried to be a pve shadow priest will appreciate the mana issue we have.

You basically only have your mana pool to use before you start popping consumables to sustain your dps.

Considering the other rings out there, this is in my opinion the best ring in game for an offensive dps shadow priest.

Do the maths for yourselves, but a starter would be the mana regen portion of this item gives you "a free mindflay" every 2 minutes... then add onto the the passive +19 damage bonus.

Of course, it also doubles up as an awesome healer ring because we (should) all know how powerful mana/5sec can be for those fights involving a lot of time within the 5 second rule.

Seriously people...

All of you complaining about how this isn't that great need a clue. 9 mana regen every 5 seconds which continues DURING combat, that's an extra 540 mana in a 5 minute fight ... just from this ring.

Really, any smart caster would rather have this kind of mana regen than 10 int any day.

With my paly geared from MC and BWL, and with BoW on me, I regen about 5500 mana in a 5 minute fight. I'll take that over +INT any day...

I got this ring yesterday in BWL. Yeah, it has no stats. But in a 10 minute fight I prefer 9mana/5 seconds over a 16 Int or alike ring.

I am a shammy and this thing rocks. This goes perfect with my brood of nozdormu ring. MP/5 and +healing are the main stats of healers. This thing has both and allot of it wich makes it almost the best healer ring pre naxx.

and thinking.. Ring of Blackrock is not ALL THAT much better than this easy to get ring... from a guide I had read here some time ago I remember that +19 healing/dmg is about 5 Int..

It's 9 mana every 5 seconds, not every second. So you need a fight to take about 1 1/2 minutes to regen ~150 mana.

True, but you have to add this +9 to your natural recovery owed by your Spirit, if you wanted +9 mana/5 sec you'd have to add nearly 120 to your Spirit

Anyway, if it's the same rule than crit with Agility, 1 Int = +0,07 crit %

For very long fights, this is definitly one of the best ring for all healers, if you're interested in feeling like a mana battery. Horde-players depend much more on this than alliance.

There are many rings with +spelldamage for mages/warlocks, some with even more, and they have other methods of regaining mana in the fight, so mana regeneration doesn't matter that much. So they are normally not interested in this one, but for priests/shaman/druids it's sooo sweet.

Our last Nefarian fight (according to the MUSE-addon):
* 1142 seconds total fight
* 362 seconds outside 5 second-rule
* 741 seconds inside 5 second-rule
* 39 seconds of full mana (no regeneration)

I have 3/8 Transcendence, that's 15% mana regeneration inside the 5-second-rule, and another 15% from talents. I have also spent the talent-points for +10% total mana.

Crunching this numbers leads to:
* 1 mana per 5 seconds is worth 221 Mana in this fight
* 1 spirit is worth 73 mana in this fight
* 1 int is worth 16.5 mana in this fight

So, let's take a look at some rings:
* Cauterizing Band: 198 mana (+46 healing)
* Pure Elemenitum Band: 896 mana (+53 healing)
* Ring of the martyr: 1100 mana (+51 healing)
* Primalist's band: 1489 mana (no healing)
* blue ring from DM-East: 1489 mana (but around 100 less hp than all the other, no healing)
* Seal of the archmage: 1647 mana (no healing)

* Ring of Blackrock: 1986 mana and on top of that + 19 damage/healing (but no stamina)

Some may argue, that Pure Elementium Band and Ring of the martyr are better, but I'm not so much interested in +healing (already have around 600), and because we have a closed biding DKP-system, these two will be very expensive for the first drops. So I'll put my hands on this underestimated one ASAP.

It's also great for farming, and you don't leave angry mages/locks cause you take "their" ring.

It isn't bad, but not so good. Mages and Priests could maby have it for the long MC fights, its little but with other items like that, it really helps.

This ring is perfect for lang bossfights, because these last 5-10 minutes... lets take 5.
300 seconds... 60 ticks:
1 mana/5s = 4 INT
In a boss fight this ring would bei worth 36+ INT, so it is not that bad. ;)

(But for PvP/normal Instances, I would prefer Sta/Int gear.)

Until they add an encounter long enough to require a decent amount of mana regen, this ring is pretty crappy for mages and warlocks.

Just coming to dispel a few rumors...

The main thing people will ask is, is the mana regen on this ring better than just getting spirit?

It depends on what your class is and how you play. First, the raw numbers: it takes 4 spirit to regenerate 1 mana every 2 seconds (every "tick" of regen). Basic algebra then says that 1 mana/5 seconds is equal to 1.6 spirit. So this ring's 9 mana/5 seconds is about equal to 14.4 spirit.

Now, here's the difference: whenever you cast a spell, for 5 seconds your mana regen from spirit shuts off. However, mana regen from items like this still work during those 5 seconds. That's where your playstyle comes into effect.

If you play a job that can simply stop casting spells for a while and let your mana regen (such as a mage or warlock), then you probably want +spirit. If you play a character that needs to keep casting spells constantly (like any healer), then +mana/time items like this are probably best.

All who say that this ring is bad, dont have a clue of what they are speaking about. Mana regen and 19 spellpower. 19 spellpower on a ring, amazing. Stack them babies up and you win. This one and the ring that drops from the Silithus raidbosses are so amazing.

Yeah. Similiar to ring of spell power which adds +30 something to dmg and healing, only that. Im currently wearing blood of the martyr and seal of archmagus, and i dont think its worth dropping any of the rings for this one, tho mana regeneration is very nice.
Im a paladin btw.

Wouldn't spend much dkp on this one. Sure, it is a decent ring, but most often it isn't that big of an improvement of what you got already. A mage or lock might want it for the damage though...

You can do the save the princess/kill the emperor quest in BRD/Ironforge and get this
Songstone of Ironforge has +18 todamaeg/healing and +7int and +5 spirit

IMHO better, and certainly considering the fact that it's a quest reward and not a random epic drop in BWL.

This ring is nice for mage and lock, but these classes can get better rings for them.
And they can stop casting to regen mana.

A priest doesnt really have this option in most BWL fights and he needs to spam flash heals constantly.
This ring regens 108 mana every minute while casting.

That equals 7,2 int every minute.
14,4 int in 2 mins.
21,6 int in 3 mins.
28,8 int in 4 mins.
36 int in 5 mins.

Would you put on a ring with 36 int, if you are sure the fight last at least 5 minutes long?

I asume YES :)

Not to forget the nice dam+haling bonus on it.

btw, fights in BWL can easily last longer than 5 minutes. Just do the test and do the math.
