A great shield for a tank still leveling up towards 60. Not as goos as Skullflame Shield, but it will get the job done.

Unlike Skullflame, however, this has a proc that's actually usefull to a maintank. This is good for tanks to hold on to until they can upgrade to something like a Draconian Deflector, etc.

Just got a drop from a Ravasaur hunter in Un'Goro Crater. Lucky day! Was already happy with the nice and valuable vendor trash they drop, but this... nice. Gonna auction it off, too expensive to keep myself, hehe. Normal shields at my level tend to be only slightly worse anyway.

This shield is probably one of the best epics for a warrior who is below lvl60. It will last you from lvl 45 all the way to 60 or until you get the draconian deflector. The proc is decent and gives you additional armor. A lot of epics that people get under 60 will only last a few levels (maybe except Myr. Signet and Stockade Pauld). For any who can afford it or lucky enought to get it in a drop it will be well worth it. I bought mine off AH and then it dropped in ST and I sold it for 180g. Very good investment if you can get it at lvl 45-50. Now I tank MC ZG and Ony.

Not sure why paladins "perhaps" can roll on it. My paladin has way higher armour and block and can out duel same level warrior easy (even without healing myself). I have total protection talents, one handed specialisation,shield specialisation and holy shield. I probably need this more than a warrior.

I just found this about 5 mins ago in western plague lands off of a lvl 51 skeleton, my 1st epic ever found grinding im pretty stoked, any idea on how much i should sell it for?

This shield is excellent for level 45.

If you compare this to the one you would (most likely) have got from Scarlet Monastery 6 levels earlier (Aegis of the Scarlet Commander) or the shield from the rare mob in Razorfen Downs (Savage Boar's Guard), this shield is a massive step up in quality. Not only does it have the primary stats for a tank (talking about Warrior's here) but it also has a decent proc on it too. +150armor for 30 seconds, and it probably gets reapplied before that time is up. So basically add a +150armor on top of the amount on the shield already while tanking.

A couple of shields i can think off from the top of my head that are in the same level range of 45-50 are Aegis of Stormwind from AH/drop, Gizlock's Hypertech Buckler from Maraudon and Crest of Supremacy from Sunken Temple.

Compare these to the Wall of the Dead. It is vastly superior for a Warrior, and you'll probably not find better until 60 because of the lack of decent shield drops in instances higher than Sunken Temple (ok sure there's a couple in Blackrock Depths, but come on this is a lvl45 epic).

Got this for 100g earlier and it's very nice. Going to last a long time and i have no doubt i'll get my moneys worth out of it :)

I went looking for a decent shield from 45+,and theyre few and far between.
I just bought this for 50g from a tc seller and slapped an +18 stam enchant on itfor another 30g.
Ive been trying to get a decent shield for awhiles and this is the first i had a chance at.
I just hope i dont get a lucky shield drop anytime soon.

But seriously, why should i have to tank with an SM drop when im lvl 50?

Got mine last night, dropped off Rotgrip. Outrolled a pally for it, who then ninjaed on Rotgrip Mantle (cloth shoulders) which should have gone to the priest.

Dropped for me while farming turtle scales on the beach in The Hinterlands. First purple drop for me, but had no use for it being a CowGuy Hunter.

Put it in the AH for 24hrs at 145g. If it dont sell, will make some guildie warrior happy.

Just dropped in BRD for me. Everyone passed for the warrior. Skeletons come around when it procs.

Yah I just baught this for 4g on the Hakkar server off of AH hehe, looks like I got a good deal. I have no use for it as I'm a mage, so I put it back on for 150/250g if anyones interested. Is that an ok price, or should I change it do you think?

im a rogue, it dropped for me on the escort chicken quest in hinterlands, a troll dropped it, lvl47.

looks like a good one, its got more armour than me with all my gear.

hehe, I wanted to check the drop % on this shield... I found this shield myself on one of the water elemental mobs at the shore of Feralas, but the site doesnt say it drops there...... so, I guess its really low %, sold it for 110 gold ^^

How many times will I see a shield with a black skull on it in one shape or form. This is epic, couldn't blizzard get a little creative with it? I mean how many times does my shaman have to be dissapointed with repeated graphics for shields due to poor creativity. Stats are nice, but I wanna see something different. I think I speak for all people and say I wanna stand out from the rest... give us a little variety

I got mine with my 44 warrior.
Iv been in group with my brother lock-60 to help me on blodsail quest so we saw that elite gorila and kill them.
Wall of Dead drop from gorila near..i thing 40-42 not sure.
Cause i decided to create new char on other server and deleted warrior put on AH for 120 with 130 g so 15 min later sold out to lucky warrior:)

Omg people actually buy this? I mean, there are so many good shields that drop in intances. For example that 55+ dragon in the sunken tempel dropps a shield that has 7 less armor, so think about it ;-)

beautiful shield stats.... like draconian without defense, best shield available for a long time... better than milli's, eranikus drop, roccor's shield... pretty much best until draco.

I'm a Shaman (lvl 46) But it looks so nice (Even the proc, knowing im grinding a lot)

A lot will say ''Omg u r shaman why u needed it?'' Well acually I found it and decided not to sell it. (Ferelas by the way).

It's really not bad, allthough if I were in one group with a Warrior, I would have given it to him offcourse. I know it's more a Tank item then Shaman, but nevertheless, I'm happy with it, it's serving me well !

PS The proc saves ass ^^

Got mine yesterday from a SLave Worker in SG, man, was I surprised. (1 in 142,746) lol, sometimes you're lucky.

Nobody here really cares where it dropped. Its a WORLD DROP means it can drop from ANYTHING level 45-50...

I got mines from the Auction House, so if you really want this shield GET IT FROM THERE, rofl.

Anyways, on to more important stuff, since I bought mines yesterday night before logging - and not having gotten a chance to try it out yet, I was wondering if people here have had experiences with it. Is the shield that procs similar to a Priest's Shield? For ex: does it give a determined amount of hitpoints? If so I would imagine that the shield is great at the late 40s early 50s stage, and not so great for the late 50s as it most likely doesnt scale with your level at that stage.

Also, for a Tank, this proc is great as it gives off more threat to mobs that your tanking when it shields you.

Looted this off of Gnarled Thistleshrub/Thistleshrub Rootshapers today on May 29th, 2023 as a Paladin while trying to grind for Flurry Axe. Doesn't go for a whole lot on Thunderfury-US so I equipped it and it'll probably be my best shield until 58+.

Even though it's a 3% chance to proc, it does proc a lot. It pairs nicely with Ring of Saviors, especially when you're in a pinch if you pulled too many mobs. 150 armor/20 sec + 300 armor/10 sec, it nets you about an additional 8% physical damage reduction with pure armor rating (varying, depending on your level and if your gear is keeping up with your level). Currently, with my gear in the game and armor rating, it gives me about 3.50% to 4% additional physical damage reduction (excluding devotion aura).
