Regarding mages (to say the least)...This is a very useful ring to pair with something like say...Band of Servitude, but I can't say I recommend completing the set. Its counterpart Zanzil's Band is hardly fitting for a mage considering the many other options you have. Zanzil's SEAL though will more than likely be equipped on your mage for a loooooooong time.

Mages these days need +hit and +dmg gear, +crit is also nice.

For a frost spec a crit should add 100% dmg.
For a fire spec a crit should add 110% dmg.

So +crit can add more dmg than a resist can rob you of, but in endgame raids resists are more common, making +hit gear extremely nice for DPS casters. In PvP or instances with mobs less than lvl 60 I would go with +crit over +hit and get as much +dmg as possible.

+damage and healing is a generic term from blizz. try finding a weapon that does only +damage... there isn't any - only specific schools then.

Priest/shaman use 50% heal 50% damage (pure example) so they get 100% use of the items.
Mage use 100% damage so they get 100% use of the item.
Warlock use 75% damage 25% healing so they get 100% use from it.

yes i am a warlock and i would love this, but priests and shamans (yes i have both a priest and a shaman my self as well) should realise that +dmg/heal is useful for all. - end of discussion.

+hit is better for damage dealing casters. Yes crit is nice, but actually hitting your opponent with a spell is more important than xtra damage "IF" you hit them.

Now priests on the other hand need +crit gear for their heals since they're always hitting their friendly target with a heal.

Although, being shadow/disc spec, I'd like the +hit gear but I wouldn't roll over another class who needed this item unless noone needed it.

Okay, as a Lock, I plan on going for this. Only thing is, the other one seems kind of lame for a Lock. For the second ring, which should I choose: Dragonslayer's Signet, Ring of Spell Damage, Seal of the Archmagus, or Blood of the Martyr(already have)?

I'm affliction specced, so I'm aiming more for lastability than nuke damage.

Stop rolling on damage and healing items unless your guild is PvP only or you are in a pick up. They already have a set for you called Primalist's. Wouldn't be fair if you could roll on both sets but DPS casters could not.

Blame Blizzard for being so lazy as not to seperate damage and healing unless they break it up into elements.

Im a 60 mage, but i would not mind if a shammy rolled on this ring. I reckon shammys suck at healing anyway and should be doing damage. This ring would fully help for chain lightning in pvp and the +spell dmg would be nice. IF I WAS A SHAMMY I WOULD ROLL!
Druids and priests should chill out and get something else :P

Many guilds roll on ZG. I would say more roll then use points on my server.

Ur all so %^&*ing wrong.. the Zanzil band/seal is for MAGE and WARLOCK.. and yes, a pvp shaman, priest, druid etc could benefit for it.. but when you do PVE, you DONT give this kind of item to any of those classes.. WHY would a healer even think about getting +hit gear? Is it possible to miss/dodge/parry a heal? naah, dont think so.. Healers need +healing and mana/sec mainly..

When you go pve, you dont equip ppl for pvp in first hand, so if any mage warlock needs this, gief them, and all you healers will get primalist set!

Btw, stupidest thing I ever see on these pages is that healers benefit more than mages/locks from +dmg AND healing gear, cuz they do both dmd and healing and mages/locks dont.. Blizzard havent made any items with just +dmg, but they should so all you nabby healers wont roll on these kind of items..

I am a warlock and I got this last ZG run with my guild. It was priest and I who had the other piece of the set and the priest let me have it. In return I let a priest have the leggings that dropped. Please if you are a healer check out the Primalist's Seal and the Primalist's Band these are way better for healing then this set is. But you do not get the Extra damage with that set.

this is absolutly one of the best rings in this game.. i have some epic rings also, but i always get back to the Zazil's Band.. it's awesome for a mage.

If your guild is in the beginning stages of Naxx, this ring should be priest only until they have enough +hit. There are 2 encounters in Naxx where priests must Mind Control adds, and a resist in there can mean a wipe. Once all the priests who will be doing the Mind Controlling have 4-6 +hit, then these rings should go to offensive casters (mages/warlocks) only for the most part.

Yes, youre absolutely right, give alle the good things to the priests and warriors for some bull$%^& like naxxramas (of course a guild goes to naxx straight ahead after zul). Wasted some evenings on this event (and we even managed some encounters in a few weeks! wow what a sucess), it is yust keeping people still paying your account in order to become a little better but without any fun. This is why the game absolutely sucks at lvl 60. Hope at b.c. i can have some fun without any priests around that have all their brain in the ass.

This ring is for every caster class, look:

Mages: For the DPS !
Warlocks: DPS
Shammies: Healing and DPS
Pallas: Healing and if they cast alot .. DPS
Priests: Healing a little bit but if they want real healing go primalist, and ofc... DPS!

The stats are good for all the classes.

Okay, sure. If you are a guild doing ZG and a bit of Molten Core or only ZG, priests wouldn't need this yet.

But when you are doing Naxxramas, there is a fight in which priests have to mind control. If their spell is resisted, however, it is a guaranteed wipe (or so I have heard). That's why priests are gonna need + chance to hit with spells.

Most guilds that are in Naxx have ZG on farm so these items can easily go to priests, as other classes already got better items from BWL or AQ.

As far as I have heard, priests in the guild Im in are constantly being encouraged to use their dkp on items with + chance to hit (we are a bit preparing for Naxx).

So, if your guild has ZG on farm and is preparing for Naxx, then this item would be to roll on if you are a priest.

All terrible jokes aside, what classes would you guys say would benefit the most from this? I see that one poster said warlock, and I don't see anything wrong with that.

We had this ring drop off the Bloodlord and had a shaman roll on it and win. When I made a friendly suggestion to try for the Primalist set (+healing) that also drops off of him, he took offense.

As a resto druid, I didn't want the ring, so there was no motivation for him to drop out of the roll so that I could stand a better chance at winning.

I just felt that it was a much more friendly ring for a DPS caster (I don't know about mages, since I guess they'd prefer +crit, but that's an uneducated guess).

a player's magic resist and your chance to hit with spells are affecting two different things. resistances increase your chance to partially resist damage. chance to hit only works against a mob's chance to completely resist a spell. the chance to resist a spell entirely depends only on the level of the caster and the target, not resistances.

if you want to counter people with resist gear, look for items that have the "lowers target's resistances by x" bonus. equal level mobs have a 4% chance to resist spells, so as far as pvp is concerned you'll only need +4% chance to hit with spells.

as far as calculating damage is concerned: if you have double damage on spell crits, count +1% hit like +1% crit (they're not exactly the same, but close). if you don't have double damage on spell crits, +1% chance to hit with spells is better.

for a level 60 player:
level 60 mobs have a 4% resist chance
level 61 mobs have a 5% resist chance
level 62 mobs have a 6% resist chance
level 63 mobs have a 17% resist chance

so with these rings and the +2% hit staff from ZG you'll be in very good shape.

for a warlock i'd always take +hit over +crit (unless i already had a sufficient quantity of +hit). in pvp i cast many spells that can't crit.

for mages and warlocks, +hit gives you a steadier dps. i'd rather have all my spells hit and waste no mana on resisted spells than get two big crits and pull aggro.

Right. Let's see. Ever heard of RESISTANCES? We mages (and locks too) have huge pvp problems with players resisting many of our combat-spells due to resistances. chance-to-hit for spells is a chance to ignore resistances (Blizz stated so a week or two ago). My Songstone of Ironforge is a goner once I grab this baby!

It amuses me, mages and locks whine about resists ...yet, apart from MC/BWL Drops there are not really many items which give resists without dropping stats, anyway to my point:
Every other class has to compete with armour, which is much more balanced than blizzards crappy resistance formulas.

This ring set is AMAZING... 3% chance to hit... 17 dmg/healing... 23 intellect and 10 stam... one of the best I have seen.

To comment seriously on this ring, and the Concentration Set in general:

It's definatly not the best out there, but if you're lacking in Epics such as Freezing Band or Ring of Spell Power, the total 23 intelect, 10 stamina, 2% crit chance, +17 to damage/healing, and 4 mana every 5 seconds is amazing.

This amazing item drops of Bloodlord Mandokir. Mandokir is the third boss located in the Zul Gurrub Instance. He is not one of Hakkars high priests and does not have to be killed to kill fight Hakkar. He is located just past that of Venoxis, and up a large series of stairs.

Bis for warrior tanks when tanking the 4 horseman as you need 16% spell hit, you get 5% from t3 10% from zg trinket and the remaining 1% from this ring.
