This is one of the trinkets acquired by defeating four bosses in the Edge of Madness section of Zul'Gurub. The bosses are Gri'lek, Renataki, Wushoolay, and Hazza'rah. Each two weeks the current Edge of Madness boss changes in a predictable rotation, so constructing this trinket takes a minimum of six weeks.

It has been confirmed that the Charm will be converted to the "rating system" come 2.0 (or whatever they're numbering the next patch!) which will hurt its scaling to level 70. This one may not be worth constructing at this point. It does add quite a bit of bite to the usual Hammer combo, especially for a heavy Holy build that can trinket, Holy Shock, Hammer, Judgement of Command, and Holy Light with a 10% higher chance of hitting that sweet Illumination.

10% is simply too low. Considering paladin's can't do much in the way of holy damage (holy shock, hammer, and 2 undead spells) this is often used for healing. 10% is not dependable, so it's irrelevant for healing. Better than some trinkets, but of the ZG class ones: Weak.

I'm trying to work out the math on this "epic" trinket versus the pally DM trinket (Royal Seal of Eldre'Thalas). Royal Seal gives us +22 to healing.

Let us assume an 8 minute fight (say, a really long Hakkar fight). If we do nothing but Flash of Light (a 1.5 second cast) in those 480 seconds, we can theoretically cast 320 flash heals. The +22 healing of the Royal Seal actually only gives 9.438 to each flash heal (1.5 second casts only get .429 times the +heal value) for a grand total of

3020 EXTRA HEALING OVER THE DURATION OF AN 8 MINUTE FIGHT.

Let us examine Gri'lek's Charm of Valor. Given it's 3 minute cooldown we can only pop it TWICE in an 8 minute fight. That is a total of 30 total seconds during the fight wherein we have 10% extra chance to crit on holy spells (Flash of Light, of course, being one of those holy spells). In 30 seconds we can cast 20 1.5 second Flash of light heals. 10% of 20 is two, so

IN AN 8 MINUTE FIGHT GRI'LEK'S CHARM OF VALOR GIVES US TWO EXTRA FLASH OF LIGHT HEALS.

I don't know about you, but my crit Flash of Lights land for about 700-800 extra on top of the base heal. That's only, roughly, 1600 extra healing over the entire duration of the 8 minute fight. Granted, if you pallys are Illumination spec, that's a total of 280 mana you get back.

So, if we go with Royal Seal of Eldre'Thalas we add over 3000 to our heals in an 8 minute fight, not to mention +10 fr and some armor. When we go with Gri'lek's Charm of Valor here, we only add ~1600 to total heals for free mana cost.

I'm torn. I need some advice folks and can anyone double check my logic on this?

Use: Increases the critical hit chance of Holy spells by 10% for 15 seconds.

compare that to chance to get a critical strike with spells. The use of the word hit has me kinda confused. Does this add 10% to spell crit or does it mean a higher chance to crit with moves like judgement of right?

Great in combo with Holy Wrath, Excorsicm and afcource Seal of Command, great for pvp and pve so stop the whining that it sucks, sure better trinkets are out there but the set bonus of Freethinkers aint so bad either, so think before posting!

Does the cooldown share with Sanctified Orb? Be pretty neat if you could use one then the other right after. Probably not, possibly on the same timer since they have just about the same effect.

This item will be very useful in the next 40-man Raid instance Naxx, lots of elite 60 undead!

What is the cooldown on this bad boy?

edit: found it. cooldown is 3 minutes, on a shared 20 second coooldown timer with things such as ZHC.
