Forest ooze is on a shared pop with Chillwind Ravagers. So if you can't find any ooze and there's lots of chimeras floating around, go on a chimera killing spree :) You'll see more ooze soon.

you can also "pickpock" the Oozes to get the pappers
not sure if it can drop 2 if you do it.
but anyway There are FAR to low Forest Oozes in the zone
so if ya se one, Kill it before another Rogue get to it ;)

Well I have to agree with my learned friends who stated that this was quite possibly the most useless , boring and time-consuming quests that Blizz have ever given us.

Anyway, moan over...

Oozes are in the NE part of the map where you got the quest from.

There aren't very many of them so do the quest when everybody else is either in bed, at work, or dead.

Kill the Chimeras too as they are on the same respawn cycle (also if you are a leatherworker they drop Chimera Leather so it's handy to harvest this while you're waiting).

Pickpocket the Oozes before attacking them. The sometimes drop the quest items.

Always loot all. They'll respawn quicker.

It's possible to get more than 1 when pickpocketing. I happened to get 2 fragments pickpocketing one mob. ... An hour later, I was finished. Not nearly enough spawns of the oozes and too many various mobs patrolling around them.

Yes, this quest is boring. After an hour of random running and killing here is what I did.

1) Create a macro with "/target Forest Ooze", put it in your taskbar.

2) There are two parallel elevations on NE Azshara. Circle around them anti-clockwise, be sure to pass near the cliffs facing the south shore.

3) Keep clicking your macro to locate the Oozes

4) Always pickpocket them! Sometimes they even have two stacked Encoded Fragments.

5) Kill, always loot to speed respawn, repeat from point 2.

If you don't want competition do it late at night, 4am sounds good.

in loc 64.25 / 65.24 / 71.29 / 77.27 i kill Ooze, but hereon he stop spawn((, after i kill all mobs in this plase and he spawn again

I spent the first 45 minutes of this quest looking for the oozes. I found like 3, got one drop off of them. I was irritated to say the least that they were such a low spawn rate and such a low drop rate. Here's how to do this quest in 15- 20 minutes tops.

If you look up the North East of the map, there are two hills. Undernearth the first one, just scour around that area from east to west (maybe 900 yards or so) Always keep under the hill. There are 3 spawn points, left, center and right for the oozes. Just pick pocket them, and then kill them. In one instance I got 3 fragments off of one ooze. I pick pocketed and got 2, and killed and looted and got 1.

Kill the ravagers also and make sure you fully loot the oozes and ravagers so that they spawn faster. If you do it like this, you'll complete it in 15-20 minutes tops.

I killed a total of 12 Forest Oozes to get my 10 fragments. Pickpocketed each before I killed it, on two occasions I got 2 fragents off the pickpocket. Total of about 20-25 minutes.

It took me two trips in a circular path around the twin mountain peaks you see on the map in NE Azshara to find all the oozes. As described above, make sure you kill the chimeras (Mistwind Ravager) because they share spawn points with the oozes.

People said this quest was so hard and took so long. I killed the first 3 forest oozes and they dropped nothing. I thought it would be so hard. I made the macro and pickpocketed and finished in a half an hour. =D

TBH, i found this quest fairly easy. Perhaps Blizzard modified it in a later patch than some of u guys, but oozes wernt to hard to come buy. Noone elso was doing the quest apart from me, and i finished in in around 40min with my 50 rogue. Stayed in Stealth most of the time following the two mountains to the N.E. as explained above.
A little tip tho:
1) forget all that crap about killing gryphons in order to increase the spawn rate of oozes.
2) Stay to the more western mountin. I found No oozes at all around the eastern mountain. I just circled the western mountain bout 4 time.

This quest is easily solo-able at level 50. just watch the giants. The hippogryphs are useless to kill, unless it is simply clearing the way. it's the Chimera (Mistwing Ravager) with the shared spawn. kill any of these as well as oozes. btw, pickpocketing ftw. picked a stack of 2 frags and also got one in regular loot, off the same ooze.

i just pickpocketed the last 2 fragments in one go! there were acctually 2 fragments when i pickpocketed, so be sure to pickpocket them.. might get luckky like me!

althought it did take me a good fricking hour or two to finish it.

A good idea is to pickpocket and then kill. Sometimes they both pickpocket and drop it.

This quest is easy, I'll give you the co-ordinates of the Forest Ooze Spawn points. They respawn at roughly 5 minute intervals and they are not affected by other mob counts so don't feel pressure to kill stuff because other mobs are unrelated to the Forest Ooze Spawn event.

**These co-ordinates are created using CTRAID. I don't know if other programs use the same co-ordinates.

I went around the two hills about 5 times, only found 3 oozes, then I followed the above post, followed the co-ordinates, and found 5 of them in less than 3 min

Encoded Fragments, Rogue quest for lvl 50.

The Forest Oozes is not easy to find because they are not so many... I ran around for like 1 hour or more to find all Fragments....
But if you pick-pocket them and then kill then you have a small chance of getting 2 Fragments on 1 mob. I ran around so mouch that I know the place off by heart now :P.
When I pickpecketed a Ooze I got 2 Fragments and when I killed it I got one more Fragment ;D.You will find the Forest Oozes in North-East Azshara.
You can run around for hours without finishing the quest.. If you need help to get up to ArchMage Xylem you just kill some Hippogryph's until you get some Undammaged Feather's and find his little tower on the map (pink little housroof on map) in the mountains. When you see it, try find a Blood Elf that stands near the mountain from where you can see his roof. There is like a sign in the ground there. If there is , you are right. Talk to him. He will teleport you to another portal. Don't talk to upper-portal-guy. Keep going straight ahead and follow the road until you come to his tower. Not far. When talked to him, go back to the portal you came from and talk to the upper-portal-guy and you will be teleported down. I'm not good at writing this stuff, but I hope you get it :P.

Well.. I read all of your comments thoroughly. I stocked up on MD and pissed myself empty. Considered myself prepared for the hour or two of improving the ass groove in my chair. Gotta say.. part of me was disappointed.

Quest accepted -> Quest turned in: 23 minutes.

Three times in a row, I pickpocketed 2 fragments at the same time. "You receive loot:x2." Only killed 6 oozes.

To make this quest easier.

You can pickpocket the oozes for 1-2+ Fragments, as well as getting some more on the kill.

So it looks like Wowhead is a bit off. Almost every animal in the area with the Forest Ooze drops these Encoded fragments. The Mosshoof Courser and the Mistwing Rogue do and they are all over the closer area at 37, 70. Not sure if the Mistwing Ravager does because I just stayed to the near spot.
I got the quest done in less than 15 minutes by looting the other animals. They had the majority of the drops
