Of the three trinkets you can choose for completing the Sunken Temple quest, I believe this to be the best and the most useful, and probably will last you the longest of the three, mainly for the fact that it can restore up to 500 mana. This is great for the later boss fights that take a few minutes to complete, especially when you consider it only has a 3 minute cooldown. Very helpful trinket, and the one I always choose from the mage quest.

With its 3 minute cooldown its probably not worth wearing over a passive +damage trinket (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=12930), and definitely not over an activaetable item like a ZHC.

The necklace from this quest in perspective to this is far better!

Out of the three I would definately pick the necklace, compared to the others it is far superior, and the highest +DMG neck for its level.

The trinket could be very good if stacked with the offhand from the mage quest, https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=7515 - unfortunately that one has 30min CD. And stacking with a mana gem and pot you could get lots of mana back with a free +damage to next fire spell which could appeal to fire mages very well and any other mage if they just need to get their target down with a fireblast but don't have enough mana.

At 70 as a fire mage, this trinket is STILL useful. Since the buff lasts a minute you can stack it with one of the numerous +dam trinkets and get some really nice crits. The small potion effect is also a help, a lot of the time it's like a free fireball.

This stone doesn't share a time with the other stones and it only has a 3 min cooldown! This is an awesome item for any fire mage

im a frost mage and i would use this, a free unlinked mana boost is always great, and i still have to use some fire attacks anyway.

Used it with Arcane Power + Pyroblast and had a 2228 crit on a lvl54 tar elemental. I'm a lvl54 mage :D

way better than the dagger since u get 1-500 mana for a "right-click on it", average would be 250... way better than 300 mana for 100 frostbolts lol

this is very nice for a fire/arc mage like me =) just make a macro with ArcanePower, Presence Of mind, Fire Ruby and pyroblast and boom your target has not much hp left ^^

The cooldown of the trinket seems to be on its own timer.

I can confirm that it has NOT a shared cooldown with:
- Conjured Mana Stones
- Celestial Orb (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=10416)
- Robe of the Archmage (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=26850)

It DOES trigger a 15 second cooldown on the following trinktet:
- Draconic Infused Emblem (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=53239)

This however is not much of a problem since the (lets call it) buff of the ruby will hold for a minute.

My personal opinion is, that this is a very nice mana squeeze every 3 minutes. Together with the robe of the archmage (also 3 min. cooldown) i get an average of 750 mana for free. The mana together with the +100 dmg for the next firespell (frostmages do have a fireblast, dont they?) is enough to pull out the last bit of damage to end a close call in your favour.
Beeing a firemage this thingy is also fun if you like to see big numbers (combustion + ruby + emblem + pyro = Hellfire).

FYI: The Celestial Orb and the Robe of the Archmage DO unfortunaltey share one cooldown.

I think it's funny how Blizzard made certain items share cooldowns.. like this for instance. This item is only for mages (it's from a mage quest) and yet it shares a cooldown with stuff that's only for other classes, or armor other than cloth, etc. basically stuff that mages can never equip and use anyway... wtfroflcopter

i havnt twinked myself realy. havnt even been to an instence since SM (other then solo last boss in uldaman ofc) im level 49 with +225 spell damage (full fire)

Nice burst, activate Fire Ruby, then activate ZHC, TOEP, or The Restrained Essence of Sapphiron.. They can be on at the same time (2 effects that is.. moron)..

Sure the Scythe is sweet looking, but really you're going to upgrade out of it and the robes soon enough, not to mention some 'locks prefer to go with one handed weapons so they can make use of spellstones. The free VW once every half an hour is great but is a completely unnessescary trinket to have, one that in a pinch I don't even use because you can't swap trinkets during combat. Basically I only use it when getting ready to grind.

There's no trinket that comes close to what this does pre-MC and on a three minute cooldown to boot.

level 50 mage... i got this trinket, im arc/fire spec, I use fire+ gear when im goofing around, and this trinket made my PoM Pyro crit for 1700... at lvl 50 thats pretty damn nice and it still hits well w/o critting... sorry i dont see the problem, and the mana restore isn't that bad either, i've seen 1 below 100 out of using this for 4 lvls... lol neway thats my 2 copper
