As of October 18, 2005, you can talk to any innkeeper and get a random "trick" or "treat" for free. Once you have gotten a trick or treat, you have to wait at least 1 hour before getting another one.

I have done this 5 times with 5 different characters, and I will share the results.

TREATS:
-------

3 times I have gotten a "treat" in the form of a Treat Bag. When you open it, it contains a random item. So far I have seen:
- Flimsy Male Human Mask
- Lollipop x 6 (I got this twice)

I have seen all kinds of other masks on other people. The Masks are bind on acquire, so you can't sell them. The mask says "Duration: 7 days" when you get it, so I guess it will disappear after 7 days? For all practical purposes it seems to be head armor. It goes in the head slot. You can take it on or off as you please. And the interface option to show/hide your head armor still applies. The mask is kinda big and kinda cartoonic, so it's obvious that it's a mask. (You couldn't really trick anyone into thinking that you're a different race/gender.)

TRICKS:
-------

2 times I have gotten a "trick" instead of a Treat Bag. Both times I got a 60-minute costume buff. So far I have seen:
- Ninja Costume
- Wisp Costume

But just look around the major cities and look at everyone running around and you will see more masks and costumes. :)

wish i got one of those, i got a trick that didn't let me attack or cast spells for 45 seconds :(

Another trick is that you are turned into a ghost for an hour. You become transparent and you wear "ghost" clothes (and your weapons and armor no longer show until you use them).

i always got tricked.3 out of 5 times i was tricked.....but 1 time i was a mini diablo for 45 secs pretty cool.i want a bag..............

i have done this over 100 times atleast! i have been grinding my main late and just go pick up trick or treat every hour. i just wanna know if anyone has heard of anyone getting a rare halloween epic or green or blue or something.

16 slot Pumpkin bags are world drop. I got one last year of a lvl 55+ mob. They are also bop.

If you get the ghost costume it makes any mount you ride transparent! :D See-through bats! :D

the tricks r normally frog for lyk 45seconds
and the treats r these treatbags nd costumes such as
-Random
-Wisp
-Ninja(the kewlest on my server cough*Archimonde*cough*Alliance*cough* we put on the ninja costume and danced in front of the bank in a line! sooo kewl)
-Pirate
-Bat
and dats all dat i can remember

you can also get 2 other kinds of food which are the same as lollipop in effect, aswell as wands which you can use on party/raid-members to turn them into ghosts etc. You can't target yourself though.

Possible Costumes/Wands:
Ninja
Wisp
Bat
Ghost
Skeleton
Pirate
Leper Gnome

A few forms are special, whisp doesn't allow casting nor fighting (=boring), bat doesn't allow casting (so bad for casters, warriors and rogues are fine).
The other forms allow everything normal, apart from shapeshifting limitations (you can't mount or fly). Some have multiple possible outcomes, eg. Pirate can turn you into an undead with pirate hat, or into a goblin (check /beg and /dance when you get that btw ^^).

Tricks will generally get you a costume, or a special, 30s debuff that turns you into a worm, cat, etc.

Wow this is insane ive seen the Weirdest stuff just walking around IF.... dead ppl, whisps of Gnomes, and Ninjas and Pirates fighting... this almost makes me miss christmas last year............ ummmmmmm Snowballs.
