My warrior got this last week in a pug aq20 =) no hunters at all, I was dancing because my guild has so many hunters who want it XD.

Probably the second or third best rogue/warrior bow in the game behind Striker's Mark and Soulstring. Great for both DPS Warriors and Tanks, if you give this to a hunter you need to have your head examined since there are alot of weapons out there that are much better.

I'm sorry, but the fact that it has strength on it, if going from a purely raid perspective, means that it should go to a warrior/rogue. The strength would be a wasted stat on a hunter and the +hit is so easily come by for hunters and they need very little of it as opposed to the duel wielding requirements of over double digits in plus to hit.

According to those who did more math than I want to (see wow's hunter forums for spreadsheets and calculators), this is one of the best hunter weapons in the game due to it's speed and how it fits into a shot rotation. Only Huhuran's Stinger (AQ40), Larvae of the Great Worm (AQ40), and the Nerubian Slavemaker (Naxx) have higher dps. XBow of Smiting is extremely close but lower by a fraction of a dps, and even the HWL ranged weapons and Rhok are beneath it.

The desirable warrior & others' stats are for when the guild puts AQ20 on farm status - when hunters upgrade weapons, warriors can have free reign on this. It is similar to a hunter getting the Hakkari MH and the Fang of the Faceless -- they are the best pre-AQ40 melee weapons for a raiding hunter, but hunters shouldn't expect to roll on it the first time their guild is clearing ZG.

Just to support previous posts, in running the math on this bow vs. Rhok'delar, they are very very close. Rhok'delar does deal slightly higher base DPS, however the max damage for crits is slightly higher for the crossbow, and the baseline damage for crits is MUCH higher. I did this analysis using my current MM spec, not accounting for ImpAOH, and an AGI of ~350, with a 16% chance to crit not including talents.

Also, consider that this xbow has 1% hit.

Let's say you've hit the cap of 6% hit before you get this, so after you have it, you're at 7% which means that the 1% hit on this is worthless. With this extra 1% hit you can drop another piece of your hit gear for better.

I.E. - You use Band of Accuria and Ring of the Qiraji Fury, after getting this xbow over Rhok you gain 1% hit to put you at 7% which makes the 2% hit on Accuria obsolete, so you can now upgrade to a Master Dragonslayer's Signet to up your DPS further.

Before you had 16 agi, now you have 48ap; which is definately an upgrade for horde hunters.

There are several other cases also.

Man... i wish I knew Rhok sucked so much for PvP, or would have saved my DKP for this X-bow. I'm using my Bloodseeker instead of Rhok because it crits higher and has a tighter damage range.

guys ive been raiding for quite some time now and the fact of the matter is any ranged weapon worth a damn takes an organized raid, usually a guild, to get to. if a ranged weapon drops that is an upgrade to a hunter and they want to spend a dkp on the item they get it. warriors and rogue can emo whisper their buddies about how they wanted it this and that, but it still will go to the hunter that needs everytime.

the only fight about who should be getting these weapons only ever occurs on thottbot where people with no cance of getting these items come to bicker about the hypothetical situation that this item dropped and somehow u were there.

also, if anyone on my raid was to fly off the handle and go into one of these rogue/warrior/hunter tangents they would just be gkicked for being an annoying pain in everyones ass, and then u get no loot at all lol, gg.

so please shut ur mouths people, stop making post, and go grind your way to 60 : ). have a nice day in thousand needles.

I was given this crossbow by my guild without question, as a hunter. i was using Mandokir's Sting (bleh). now, im proud to say still MM specced i out-dps MM and Surv specced hunters using Rhok consistently (by consistently i mean every single MC and BWL raid). i dont need formulas or idiots on Thottbot telling me what i already know. this crossbow is IMO a GREAT hunter upgrade, and unless any hunter that wants it already has, youd be a moron to give this to a tank/rogue first.

my 2 cents are on the table

Sure a hunter will get this IF he doesn't have rhok'delar, but its rather a stats buff for warrior/rogue...

It's quite simple.

If your guild has Domo and Ony on farm then Rogues and Warriors (let them fight for it).

If you guild does not have Domo and Ony on farm (or not doing MC for that matter) it's Hunter (best pre-40 man ranged weapon imo) and if all Hunters have it then what I said before applies.

man i love these threads, this bow is great for hunters, and great for rogues/warriors, any normal guild will give it to hunters first so there is no point arguing on this thread

the reason i love these threads is because it gives hunters a taste of what they do to all other classes, i mean, check out threads on thottbot about fang of the faceless, the arguments hunters use for this is exactly the arguments rogues use for that.

Hunter weapon. The rogues and warriors aren't going to use the damage, the hunters are. High damage outweighs the 5 strength. Hunter weapon through and through.

Of course there will be something better than this crossbow. It drops from a 20-man instance...while the others drop from 40-man.

You know what though? Not everyone has a chance or desire to go to the 40-man dungeons to get the 'best' items. So, you can hardly write this weapon off as being bad for hunters.

this drops of Ossirian the Unscarred, the last boss in aq20.
im a rogue and i got this xbow on our first ossirian kill and i love it. its definately rogue/warrior item, why shouldnt hunter be allowed to get this? simple, the stats already tell you this aint for hunter (strengh) and also the dps is too low for a hunter. he should get his epic quest bow instead. this one is perfect for rogues and looks cool too ;)

This is one of the best bows in the game pre-naxx (Chroms crossbow is the only weapon to beat it before then) in the game. People complain about hunters being greedy - however.. it seems that every other class in the game is a loot %^&*! but. Most of the "better" hunters in "end game" pass on items for other classes and get them when all others have them (Melee weaps for stats for example).

That said, I've yet to be in a guild that is in end game that hasn't used some sort of priority system for loot. I highly suspect a lot of people posting here have never seen inside of ZG let alone further.

This is a significant upgrade from rhok if used right. If you want to flame me or don't understand why, that's fine. I suggest you look up shot cycles. Any hunter with rhok should get this if they don't have Chroms crossbow yet, period.

If your guild has killed Ossi, you've probably killed domo and ony, as this guy is a bit hard.. The DPS on this simply sucks for hunters - There's alot better for rogues or warriors, but this is a start.

There's one flaw in the whole "there's a better weapon for XX class in yy instance or from ZZ quest so go get that instead & give this to the hunter / tank / rogue" argument.

Simply put, and this applies to all class-oriented items not just bows, if the player of said class - hunter in this case - doesn't have better right then, then HANDS OFF other classes, & wait your turn to get it ok?

Sure, hunters can get Rhok & this is a very nice bow for rogues / warriors for the stats, but we're talking about a bow that drops in a 20 man instance. And we're talking about the main source of dps of a class into the bargain.
We're not talking about 2 different items that drop in two different 40 man raids that you *might* be lucky enough to get. Oh, and once you have them, you then have to go solo a couple of elite demons before you actually see your hunter epic weapon.
So the hunter should pass on this upgrade to their main means of doing damage in a raid, merely becuase they might at some point be able to get something else from a different place? Hunters must just meekly pass on what could be a significant upgrade to their damage output just so that another class can have a nice boost to their stats?

Blizzard don't need to nerf hunters - the WoW commuinity does a pretty good job of it for them.

well if its meant for hunters explain the benefit of those 5 strength points then

while it may be better than other ranged weps since normalization anyone whos part of a guild with any sense of pride will give it to who it benefits most so for this item id say tanks rogues and dps warriors have strikers mark assuming they want the 1% hit only 2 ranged weps in the game with it

and to defend hunters soulstring id say you guys have priority on
