They're found in EPL, from Banshees, to find them you have to use the "Ectoplasm Distiller" that the guy that gives you the quest gives you, which you have to have goblin fuel to use it, but he gives you 8 of that too. And that gives u a 2 second buff that allows you to loot them, so kill them close to it.

Those are the ones that drop from the ghosts and banshees in EPL.

I've been killing Torn Screamers in EPL, they are banshees, but they won't drop the stable ectoplasms... which banshees do I have to kill? and where to find ghosts and stuff?

Finaly i found em!
the spirits and ghosts in Corin's cross
kill em and u get it. but its hard and look after ur own back!

hard to find banshees/ghosts grouped together, even in corrins crossing. you'll have to drop the collector several times to get all 12

Northdale is by far the best place to find the mobs that drop the Ectoplasm. Tons of them there and no annoying other mobs to deal with.

Hate Shriekers drop the Ectoplasm, but Torn Screamers do not.

Northdale is indeed a great place to farm these... The watchers that spawn also drop the ectoplasm. EPL was by far the easiest place to complete. Winterspring wasn't too bad (other than competing with lower level questers). Silithis was a nightmare... every kill spawned some tough bugs.

I've been killing in northdale now like 300 of these, and have yet to see one stable ectoplasm drop, I've also killed every single kind of ghost in the whole plagueland, not one single drop, god knows I've waste truckloads of rocketfuel on this but what can a man do?

So, what am I doing wrong? Nothing afaik :/

This one is very easy Druids/palas or shadow priest and mayby shammys can solo the silithus one only DONT USE HEAL GEAR

I did this solo in 2 hours - all three areas.
60 Frostmage (18/0/33).

Easy as hell..

My aim was to not by extra rocket fuel and i succeeded :)
Remember! You need to say within the "buff-range" of the totem when you kill the mobs to gain the drop.

Stable Ectoplasms
Northdale is absolutely the best in EPL. If you're good (as i am - sry, but i just love brag) then you can gather a few banshees and 2 or 3 guardians and aoe them to death and in that way getting 5-8 ectoplasms in no time. The guardians or patrols or whatever seems to spawn all the time so they're great.
TLOC: 70,30

Frozen Ectoplasms
In Winterspring it's piece of cake. The only reason you need 2 fuels here is because there's such a long distance between them there.

Scorched Ectoplasms
In Silithus you put on your +dmg gear and combine it with some of your +int gear and then you nuke 1 druid at the time and then aoe the spawns. Will need 2 or 3 fuels because of the regen time you will need.
TLOC: 61,50

G.l. with the quest - i spend approx. 230g on it so far and i will add up to a total of approx. 400g.

i've just done Silithus using 3fuels, omw to Winterspring.
It's good to go inside their 'fortress' or whatever it is, there u can find more druids/sentinels close together.
If u r lucky after their death no insect will appear, if not u can end up with 3-4 up ur ass :D

if u r engineer pwn mobs dropping ectoplasm with your mind control cap on ur head in case some ally/horde guy appears so he can help u with ur quest a bit ^^

the noxxius glade or whatever it is called sucks. dont go there. you will be feared into mobs like to other.

I tried do this in Northdale. I had I good plan I decided to wack the device inside one of the shacks there. Almost got 6 on my first run but I got feared into the fire place and got stuck but 5 was good for a 1st run (luckly a respawn feared me out of shorly after). Almost got 7 on my next but I just missed out. My 3rd run I was cheated out on the loot, I must have been feared out of range before it died (though I was certain I was in range :S. That fear though then brought another banshee on me, which then brought on two more shadows on me and then I got owned ;(

soloed all three areas in well under 2 hours (even with a server restart and got the rod in winterspring). just spent 7 goblin rocket fuels aswell. I'm a arcane/fire mage

btw; use dwr's co-ords. they are accurate.

epl and winterspring is easy, only hard bit is the bloody hive thing, hard for a healing specced priest:)

I think the best way to do these quests is in pairs. Have one person plant the ectoplasmic thing right as you're finishing off the first mob. Since the ectoplasmic thing seems to despawn if you run too far away from it, have that person stay in range and finish off the mobs you drag to them. Take turns so that it's fair, and one person is not using more fuel than the other.

As far as the Silithus druids are concerned, if you pick off the sentinels first, druids will usually spawn in their place by the time you finish killing the ones that are already there.

if you are at corin's crossing, watch out for the courier and the bodyguards , they sometimes pass through there (and hack through you :p)

Drops in Noxious glade, one of the harder ones to get, be sure to bring more goblin rocket fuel.

try northdale.all mobs drop it there,u ll probably be alone and u wont spent more than 2 rocket fuels.took me 10 mins

northdale, absolutely perfect place. yes, eventually the eyeless pop up and fear y ou, but if you cannot handle that, you're in no condition to try to solo this quest anyways.

did it easily with 60 shadow priest solo, took me two beacons (first placed waay too off, only managed to get 4, second i got 8 and then i left before it timed out, probably could have got all 12 in one try if i'd placed it better.)

yeah northdale is the best, took me 2 fuels, unfortunately after i killed the last one needed i had aggroed both a ghost and an eyeless thing, i got feared and ambushed by many more mobs in the area and died

but otherwise was very good
