Agreeably, yes this is good for hunters, but its more of a sidebar item that is situational at best.

This is actually a nice pvp hunter chest piece for multiple reasons:

Flat magic damage *reduction* 24/7 - no dampen magic buff needed.

Not resistance. This means more damage reduction in the end than +10 resistance to all schools of magic.

Flat attack power instead of agi's 2rap/1map means you get twice the melee attack power you normally would for those big ol raptor crits when you clip.

1% crit ain't a lot, but it's better than nothin on a relatively defensive minded piece of gear.

No offense, but you're a retard if you contemplated using this in PVP.

Where do you get this? Oh, that's right: one of the hardest PVE (and PVP if on a PVP server) encounters in the game. What is this items purpose? For Hunters and Shamans to receive a flat decrease in spell damage received. I would think that the "10 points" would scale much like Spell Damage would. Dependant upon the spell received would reduce or increase the damage take -- 3000 Pyro = 2990 Pyro; 400 Scorch = 397 Scorch. (Approximations, obviously).

Then again it could just be a flat 10 to a spell regardless -- which is still nice given that a fire splash could do 60x10=600, become 50x10 = 100; effectively reducing damage taken by 100.

Shaman's have a totem that effectively reduces Physical Damage taken -- +this and it reduces both.

A person's concept of numbers in this game baffles me. If you do PVP - use the PVP rewards; there might actually be a reason there's a significant difference between the two (pve and pvp).

The magic damage reduction is really only applicable in solo where you're taking 100-300 damage per spell hit.

And actually, they look just like the icon.

I honestly don't really mind the spell damage on it, the other equip stats are much better, from a Hunter's view.

wow, i'm glad i've ditched my mage for my hunter. seems in this patch BLizz has devised even more ways to nerf casters.
