For horde players, the Badlands are a better place to farm these than Desolace. I've tried both, and the larger population of Coyotes in the Badlands made collecting a stack much faster.

Be aware that there is a limit to the amount of these you can hand in for tickets. I farmed them for ages only to get to 172 tickets and the option to hand them in disappeared. Off to get my Evil Bat Eyes I guess.

For every 5 of these you turn in at the Darkmoon Faire, you will get 8 Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets and gain 100 Reputation with Darkmoon Faire.

I started farming the coyotes for their heavy leather, to gain faction with the Thorium Brotherhood. The tails are a nice little cherry on top. I've picked up a ton of them. By the time I reach friendly with the Thorium Brothers, I'll probably have enough of these for myself and each of my 6 "cousins."

I made a little spreadsheet, to figure out the best way to get to 1200 tickets. If you take the 5 free tickets quest, you can turn in at most 16 stacks of Soft Bushy Tails, which leaves you at most 8 stacks of Vibrant Plumes to turn in. (I totally ignored the lower turn-ins, just because the Tails and Plumes give a reasonable number of tickets. Doing turn-ins for 1 and 4 tickets each just doesn't cut it, as far as I can tell.)

Anyway, it broke down something like this:

Turn in 16 stacks of Tails and 8 of Plumes, you need to turn in 49 stacks of the "always repeatables" to reach 1200.

If you skip the Tails and turn in the max of 24 Plumes, you need to turn in 46 stacks of the "always repeatables."

If you skip both Tails and Plumes, you need to turn in 60 stacks of the "always repeatables."

For myself, some mix of Tails and Plumes makes sense, especially as I need Thorium Brotherhood rep anyway, and my blacksmith tends to pick up Plumes when he makes his run through Needles and visits the harpy cave. So getting these two items isn't really out of the way, so to speak. And it just kills me to have to turn in Scorpid Blood that I could sell to a vendor for bloody 24s a pop.
