It took me about 3.5 hours. First 2 hours, I couldn't get it. I got it when I went to the Tower in Darkshore for the second time. It took me 1.5 hours, killed all the Dark strand Voilcaller for 8 times (around 50 of them), and finally got it.

If you are a horde in Eldre' Thalas and need this robe of arcana, just send me a message with the material and I will make it for you. Send the message to Kartini.

For those without tloc the Yorgen Farmstead is in the middle of the map where the road turns south to Stranglethorn Vale. The farmstead is on the right.

Let me recount my experience.

I read all the comments here on thotbott and sure enough, the recipe drops in
-Darkshore, Kalimdor in the Tower of Althalaxx (56,26)
-The Yorgen Farmstead in Darkshire (48,76) or
-Darkshire, Addle's Stead (21,27).

I started out farming at half past midnight on my lvl 60 warlock, and 3 hours later with a lot of time waiting for mobs to spawn I got impatient.

Then I moved my lvl 39 mage to darkshire and farmed the 3 defias enchanters there too for good measure.

By this time, I conjured up a plan to log on the mage, aoe everything, log on my lock, curse of agony all the mobs in the tower while letting my felhunter lap up the rest. And now it is 5.30am, when I finally got a mob in darkshore in the tower to drop it.

It might be useful for you to just park three characters if you have them, one at the Yorgen farmstead (48,76), one at the Addle's Stead (21,27), and one in the Tower of Althalaxx (56,26) and just log in each to kill all mobs, move on. That's 3x as fast if all your characters are at a decent level to quickly kill all the mobs. And hey, no need to wait for them to respawn ;)

First time run and the pattern dropped right away in Addle's Stead, Darkshire. I started farming outside the barn. When there were no more Defias I headed inside the barn. There were three Defias but the Enchanter dropped it.

I tried the Yorgen Farmstead but no drop.

After a week of random loggin onto my main that I left in the Tower of A, I finally got the pattern. Guess the drop rate really is just crappy and I wasn't doing anything wrong

It's strange, but recipe for me have been drepped by mob that shown on Screenshot (summoner inside Tower). May be it's useless to grind all-i-can-see, and all u need is just w8 for 10-15 respawns of only one mob?

95 kills to get for me.

The Robes go for at least 7g on my server so I decided to get the pattern myself... yesterday it finally dropped from the enchanters in duskwood..

umh, this pattern just dropped, and it was checked up here to show a friend how this site works. and umh, i can't help finding this a bit hillarious, first of all, you get a lot better robes as easy to get boss drops. Secondly, it's friggin ugly. Third, the mats are so amazingly easy to get the robe is hardly even worth 2g, and i wont sell it for anything over that price, as it would be hillarious to sell it for more.

Greedy ppl will ofc always excist:P

I'm really surprised nobody here has commented on the fact that the Robes of Arcana is a required ingredient in the long warlock quest chain that rewards the lock with the Enchanted Gold Bloodrobe. The pattern only drops off of some Defias in Allianceland, it requires Spider's Silk, and it's a required ingredient for a quest. THAT's why people charge for robe. Most of those who buy it at AH are warlocks who need it for their quest.

My toon Kazdhoom has this pattern.

Any Horde player who needs these robes on the Aman'Thul server, just send me a mail with 2G50S with no mats or 50S with mats.

I got the recipe by grinding the Voidcallers for about an hour. It was tedious, especially being on Horde & getting to Darkshore.

Here's a macro I made that I found very useful as a lock (for which u're prolly grinding this in the first place):

/petattack Voidwalker Minion
/cast Shadow Ward
/target Dark Strand Voidcaller

With ur VW out, this should facilitate ur grinding somewhat since while the enemy VW is tanked, u can DoT up/nuke (depending on ur spec) or wand the fragile Voidcallers while u absorb at least 2 of their Shadow Bolts with ur Shadow Ward buff.

Then handle the VW, loot, repeat.

If u're kicking around on the EU Terenas server on Horde side and u cba grinding for this recipe (for which I don't blame u), PM either Stromrak (my main) or Kalamitus (my lock) to get the robe crafted.

Hey hope this helps you guys, I'm on greymane and somehow i was able to purchase this from the tailor merchant that lives in the windmill in wetlands. So its odd that it shows on here as only a drop and it was pretty cheap to, can't remeber exactly but not more then 1g.

I'm on Shadowsong server with pattern, I made this for Warlock quest that I had to do. If anyone wants to have this robe made for quest or use, mail me all reagents(Nillaa), and I will mail back cloak. You can also buy this in AH on my server, its ussualy always in AH, for around 1gold, but rounding up all regeants is free if you have patience. Silk Cloth drops common from 30+ humanoids, spider silk drops rare off lots of spiders, I got mine off spiders in dustwood, rare but easy. Find Thread is vendor bought off tailoring merchants. This was just for non-tailorers that wonder where to get regeants.

As for getting pattern, I got it in tower off darkshore, I forgot name, only came once. I slaughtered to top once and it dropped. Its nasty place to solo because adds are easy, and each one comes with void. Good thing to do though, is to wait outside a minute and watch patrol inside. When she walks up stairs, you can then attack first caster/pet by theirself, you'll have minute before patrol caster/pet comes back down, makes it alot easier. Lot of them walk around, where you'll only get adds if you time it wrong or take too long to kill. Don't forget you can Banish voidwalkers, but fear at your own risk.

I never tried the other area, this one has higher drop rate and was easy enough for me. Left after I got pattern.

If you are on Argent Dawn, look me up. I don't ask for a tip for a combine if you have all the mats. After all, I'm just clicking a button.

Making it for horde on Draenor as well. If you have ALL the mats, I'll make it for free, send mail or whisper (Infected). I'll even provide my own thread. I usually end up making a robe every week or two, and auction it for 2g, sells like bottled water. It's also a quest item for warlocks.

The pattern, as reported, can be a real pain to get. Best place to farm it is in the tower in northern Darkshore, alliance area, ugh. I got mine on the 11th kill; I was ready to give up after 12. The bottom of the tower has 3 sets of mob that drop it, you can solo them one at a time, wait for respawn, repeat.

If you got the following mats, it will be even cheaper:

2 Spider's Silk (in AH pretty expensive (3g+ per one) so I suggest grinding some spiders - Hillsbrad foothils is my bet (droped like 2 in an hour or so)

I know the frustration of finding this pattern, and beleive me everything that people say about this pattern is true. It has to be the hardest drop that I've run across.

I recommend asking around for someone who has the pattern. I had mine made for me and then finished the Golden Bloodrobe quest that turned it into a +17 Int & +10 Sta.

Send and email to Torous within WoW on Arthas server and either supply me with the reagents or ask me to make it from scratch. I'll make it for 1 gold (negotible) for anyone supplying the reagents.

or, I'll maker it for 1.25 gold if I have to get the reagents.

For the time you send looking for the pattern you could almost level twice.

Attempted to buy this on AH, but after several days, only one became available at a minimum bid of over 4g. After 4 days, 240+ kills, and a LOT of frustration, I FINALLY got this pattern to drop. Coupled with the total pain of getting spider's silk to drop ANYWHERE, the effort to create these is tremendous, but the end product for the warlock quest is awesome.

For those on the DRAGONMAW server, I can create these for 2.5g if you supply the spider's silk (2 pieces). Cost will be higher if I have to obtain the silk from AH as it is outrageously expensive...

I'll cut price further if you are able to donate silk towards the creation (need 16 pieces, or 4 bolts).

Return to Classic, farm at the tower on 2.5 hours and finally grab it, total kill 128 mobs, the drop rate as a pattern should be fine, however as a quest item it is insane and waste player time on it.
