They are all over the place! try the nortwest part or the southeast part near the shimmering flats of 1000 needles.

Not worth it, needs to be reviewed differently, maybe a 50% chance to drop off of them, they aren't rare if you know where to look (specific spots) but their drop rate is so low it's annoying. You wont even get it done in your time in 1K needles killing at least 5 everytime you're out of town.

i searched over an hour now found 3 and no drops there no were to be seen on map still aint got it another tem mins and im abadonin it ( 28 rogue / balv / kul taris / undead

Got it on first kill with my warlock.

But I remember doing this quest with my two other hunters and... well.. forget about it.

Got it off the first Digger I found who was mining at 63,49.

Seems like the guy around that co-ord drops it almost everytime b/c I've found it on him with my other characters as well.

These locations pretty much pinpoint where to search.

It's a quick and easy drop quest.

You either get the drop, or not. Some people have to kill 100 of the guys, some get it on the first drop. Check the map given in the post above this one and farm in that area. There is no magical 'single' location that it drops, so it's really not necessary to give the exact coordinates of where it dropped for you. That does no good whatsoever.

I've had toons that got it on one of the first few kills and others that I just gave up on and went on to other quests.

I couldnt even find the guys...I walked around at the botttom and top for an hour and i killed about 32 guys none of them dropped it. I finally just gave up and went onto another quest. But like its been said it all is just random on the spawns and the drops. So if you dont get it first just give up is my advice. But it did give good xp just grinding mainly.

best place to do this is around 63, 49. there are two spawn points close to each other, and in between them are plenty of mobs to grind on while waitin for respawn. I got mine after abuot 15 mins there. It is by a wrecked hut.

Note: initially he wasn't there.. but waited a few minutes..and he spawned. killed him, he dropped the ore.

Co-ordinates 63,49 is confirmed... killed surveyor right after he had mined and then got it... Dont know if that had something to do with that i got the ore but i didnt get it before thou...

when you find it, let it for a while to see where it's going, until it's starts to dig! then kill it and the quest item is yours

Worst quest in the game dont accept it if you did accept it drop it! its a wast of time.

Found one at 51,48, waited for him to mine just in case, then killed him and looted the sample the first try.
