This is an easy quest for a pretty good staff...basicly all u have to do is run shadow fang keep once then black fathom deeps once

Yes it is only a quest item, but it still has like a &% drop rate. Run SFK about ten times and you may get the drop. Don't expect to get it the first run.

Well it must be rare enough a drop... I have the quest and didn't find it at all, now I have to go back and try sfk again and just hope it comes? This sucks.

These are mainly in the area that in the path to the right of the Butcher. I got it on the second kill.

solo'd my way thru SFK as a 33 warlock, just me and my VW. so what if the quest is grey for me, i am having fun. q:�

once i got to the darksouls, the large fragment dropped off my second kill.

Cleared every mob in there, had 2 hunters tracking anything. No luck.

I hit level 29 in there, I may not bother trying again. Never finished it with my main warlock, either.

Just finished and nothing. Would help if we had an actual idea of droprates instead of people without the quest affecting the above rate. :/

60 lock ran me through this tonight... we killed everything in the keep and it didn't drop. :(

they are just up the ramp to the left of the fel steed stable, very close to entrance so won't have to get deep into the zone to find them. didn't have to clear much more than about a dozen mobs before reaching them. got mine off the 2nd darksoul i killed. for those of you wondering where this instance is, its in silverpine forest, one of the hordes undead territories for lowbies. keep is located on the far west side of the map, about the middle of the zone. if you are alliance the best way to reach silverpine forest is thru southshore, just run west, its the next zone.

At Level 20, you can pick up quest The Orb of Soran'ruk from Doan Karhan. Doan is a human NPC standing at a tent just Northeast of Camp Taurajo in The Barrens.

1. The Orb of Soran'ruk
-loot 3 Soran'ruk Fragment from Twilight Acolyte, they can be found in BFD in a champer leading up to Twilight Lord Kelris OR outside of BFD in Zoram'gar Strand standing at the temple just outside the water entrance.
-loot 1 Large Soran'ruk Fragment from Shadowfang Darksoul in Shadowfang Keep, they are in the courtyard and in a hallway leading up to final boss.
*Must have quest in order to loot these items.

Return to Doan Karhan, turn in The Orb of Soran'ruk, pick up...

2. Rumors Abound
-Loot the Orb of Des at the top of the Tower of Ilgalar in Redridge Mountains.
-Loot the Bough of Altek at the top of the Tower of Althalaxx in Darkshore.
*Both towers are filled with enemies level 28-30.
*Both items sit on a table and can be looted without killing any mobs (if you can get to the rune without pulling aggro)
*Both items can be looted before picking up the quest.

Return to Doan Karhan, turn in Rumors Abound and pick up...

3. The Conjuring
-loot 10 Blood of the Legion from demons in Felfire Hill in Southeast Ashenvale.
*will drop off of Mannoroc Lasher, Felguard, Legion Hound, and Searing Infernal.
-Follow pathway south in to canyon in Felfire Hill.
-When you see the Monument to Grommash Hellscream, look north and take the pathway heading West up the hill.
-Use the Obelisk near a purple summoning portal in the Northwest corner of this area to turn in The Conjuring.
-You will contend with 4 waves of level 25 mobs. The fourth wave will be a lone Searing Infernal.
-You must be casting Drain Soul on the Infernal while standing within the purple rune on the floor when the Searing Infernal is defeated.
-A Mysterious Traveler will appear and you will receive quest Mysterious Traveler.

Return to Doan Karhan, turn in Mysterious Traveler and receive Rune of Metamorphosis.

For warlocks who do their rune Rune of Metamorphosis.

The mobs Shadowfang Darksoul are completely immune to any shadow damage and fear regardless of your level and gear. So bring your non-shadow wand and use your fire spells only.

To find the mobs it's pretty simple. Enter the instance and follow the usual route to the captured Deathstalker Adamant, open his cell and ask him to open the door to the courtyard.

Go to the doorframe that leads down to the boss and instead of going down follow the path up along the curved pathway. Done, the quest mobs are here. Got my quest item from the 4th mob.

Patch SoD 1.15.1.53623 (Phase 2).
