Can anyone shed some light on how to use this orb. It is used from the off hand, I see it with my Sword, but I don't notice my Mana going up at all. Is there an "alt-fire" if you would..

If you came here because you were wondering... yeah the STAFF is the better pick. Sure, OOM happens a lot if you are questing in your correct area. But the orb has a 30 MINUTE cooldown. Not seconds, but minutes. While out and about in Loch Modan / Westfall for example, this "emergency" mana replenisher is only useful after a 30 minute downtime. The staff reward will be much better in helping you to sustain questing. While questing you will pick up mana drinks that are superior to your mage water. Also food too. This food/drink is real quick. You will also have Frost Nova at this stage to help you run away if you will be soon OOM.

Let's weigh the pros and cons of Ley Staff vs. Ley Orb:

Vendor Price: Ley Orb for 4s
Disenchant: Ley Staff higher chance of Lesser Magic Essence
Aesthetics: Ley Orb has a pretty glow effect
Stats: Ley Staff +1 Intellect and Spirit

So, if you like:

pretty or money, get the Ley Orb
stats or materials, get the Ley Staff

The choice is yours!

Has an equip CD, basically like a 'free' minor mana pot every 30min with a 30sec equip CD, which is not very good. If you are just gonna vendor them regardless, you still pick this.
